Thanks Kriaze! yea I definitely love the way I have things set up right now, wish I had more room for more tents :) I would love to expand the amount of tents I could have going so I could try a few "experiments" :)

Yea it definitely made me happy to hear about it, now I just have to order a backcopy :) frame it and hang it on my wall with all the music albums I produced :) haha Thats awesome to be in a magazine in another country! sweet!

Exciting things to come with this grow, just flipped them to 12/12 on friday, well 12.25/11.75 to be exact :)

Here is a data driven post...LOL... someone on another forum had asked about my experience with Mars II vs Advanced..in terms of PAR readings that I personally took, and so I went back to my youtube video tests and wrote down all the values. Since it is valuable data, I included the other lights I tested as well and wrote it up in a nice little chart....so I figured I would share it here too since I spend some time on writing it up :) lol


The question was in reference to comparing the PAR output of both lights, Mars 400w and the XTE 300 by Advanced LED.


(note.... the apogee is a great reference tool, but for LED measurements, the readings can be off and underestimated by a good 5-15% depending on the wavelengths used and quantity of the diodes in the deep red and deep blue regions)...



Another note.... These numbers/measurements are my personal measurements with an Apogee MQ200 Par meter and are only my personal datapoints. For more accurate readings, contact each manufacturer for their data, and ask what they used to measure it as each type of device has error percentages.

So exiting news everyone!!!!

I decided it was time......

Time to flip them to 12/12

Well actually 12.25/11.25 but flowering...!!!!

So today makes day 2 of flowering (from the flip is when I count)

The plants are not as picture perfect and healthy as they should be, except the ogiesel in the middle which is thriving. The black cherry cola and harlequin have been very tempermental with me showing signs of calcium deficiency and slight K deficiency as well. I have been working to correct the problem but its slow, so this last feeding today, I mixed up a good compost t and J tea.

To 5 gallons of water I added:
1 spoonful of biominerals
1 spoonful of azomite
1 spoonful of TandJ tea activator
about 10ml of yucca extract
40ml of earthjuice catalyst
40 ml of earthjuice microblast
30 ml of General Hydro florablend tea extract.

I started this mix bubbling for about 5 hours and fed the girls. I also gave them a nice foliar spray of the mix as well. I added water to fill the bucket up to the top again, and will feed the plants this mix for the next 2 days.

I also decided it was time to clean up the plants a little, doing some gentle lollipopping of them as well as removing some dead material. I also added some more wire ties bridging from bamboo pole to one another, to help support the soon to be fatty buds :) Also to add some organization to the canopy.

So last night I took some brix readings of my Ogiesel and was surprised and also confused at the results. Generally a brix of 12 or higher you are in the high brix territory, the higher the number the better the plant is doing.... usually I test both the sap of the stem, as well as a crushed leaf ball juice and compare the results..

Usually when I test the sap, and then the crushed leaf, the sap brix is always lower than the crushed leaf brix, but this was not the case in this specific test last night.

The sap read 22 brix, and the crushed leaf juice read 16 brix....


I dropped by Docbud's thread to see if he can make any sense of why the sap would be higher in only this test, but all others with multiple strains remained different, and so I am still waiting on a response from his expertice, but I wanted to post it here because I found it very interesting.

I then repeated the test tonight, just to make sure that the data was not skewed in any way, and to see if the numbers were consistant.

Everything was the same: I took a leaf sample of same size and node position from the plant, plants were watered with the exact same compost tea, 2-3 hours before the test was taken (on both days). The time of day was approximately the same that the test was taken, 5 hours after the lights turned on.

I also tested the refractometer with 0ppm R/o water to make sure that the meter was reading correctly, which it was.

The plant also shows signs of high brix including good leaf posture....

and a strong waxy shine to the leaves, even though a older calcium deficiency is showing...

I wanted to share this as I found it very interesting that all my other readings, the sap was lower than the leafs measurement.

Hey MysterySeeds.... I did use the GLR for many many grows, however when I started doing LED testing I chose to run the plants at 18/6 because it is what most growers use, and I wanted to have my grow tests me more actual to what the majority of growers do. I actually should switch back, but haven't thought of it in a while. I may try it in my all blue LED tent, but not sure if it will work because the lack of red and IR in the all blue spectrum. I may try it on a single plant to test the waters, but will have to clear up some space first :)

Really GLR works great and if I wasn't doing the LED testing I would have still been using it. Out of about 20 strains I used it on, only 2 gave me issues and wanted to flower, but this was in extended veg periods of over 5 months.

Happy 4th of July,/Independence Day weekend everyone!!!!

Today makes Day 15 of flowering, from the flip.....


So things are looking good in the garden and the ladies popped their flowers around day 10 of flowering. Currently I am running at 12.25/11.75 flowering schedule and will drop it down to about 11.5/12.5 at the midway point of flowering around day 40.

I have been feeding the girls pretty much compost teas and earthjuice teas for the past 2 weeks since the last update, and decided to give them a plain water feeding for the next 2 days, and then will hit them with another earthjuice tea. I have been trying to rotate between organic food for the microbes (earthjuice) and then bumping up the microbe populations on other feedings.

Well not much else to report on other than the ladies are looking good, and I think I have stopped the K deficiiency that I had going in my Harlequin.
