I am trying to locate seeds for Doug's Varin or Jack the Ripper: so far impossible

Ok, you think we can recreate the genetics from a cross: Harlequin and the Thai Land race?
Because I'm looking for a product that has a lot of THCV and is 100% Sativa.
In the trade, I can't find a grain that is equivalent to Doug's Varin.

I'm not sure. I would think someone would have tried that before, but I haven't heard anything. You could try.
I have been looking for a high THCV strain for a few years now and they all seem to be unreliable, unobtainable, or ridiculously expensive.
None of them seem to have the same potential levels of it as Doug's Varin either.
The original story I heard was that it was a single mutant Harlequin plant, then I heard it was an unknown cross, and then a couple of other stories. I don't know if any of them are true.
I'm going to have the bud from my current grow tested. I'm hoping it'll at least have some THCV.
I hope I'm understanding your questions right. My French isn't as good as I would like.

It should be some months before these Doug's Varin, Willie Nelson and CANUK CBG seeds are grown out.
Next October, probably.
When they are, I'd love to get them tested.
The only CBD plants I was EVER more or less sure of, when I was into that, was CBDCREW stuff. They guarantee a minimum level of CBD.
Failing that, what choice is there?
Once done, I don't know how I'll have them tested. But I'll have to get 'er done, somehow.
This is crucial medicine for me. I need to be sure.

The Doug's Varin from WSE was a bust.
I'd need to see test results showing significant levels of THCV before I considered buying any seeds.

BTW. Jack the Ripper Strain has been tested and comes in at anywhere from 5.05-6.49% THCv.
There's a detailed letter to the cannabis community by the breeder Subcool, where he posts the Lab tests:
Test 1

Jack The Ripper

Primary Cannabinoid: THCV
Ratio Rarity: 42%
Form: Raw Plant Material
Moisture: 6.98%
Calculated Active Cannabinoids
CBD: 0.38%
CBN: 0.42%
THC: 20.22%
CBC: 0%
THCV: 5.05%
Total Active Cannabinoids: 26.06%

Test 2

Jack The Ripper

Primary Cannabinoid: THCV
Ratio Rarity: 64%
Form: Raw Plant Material
Moisture: 10.07%
Calculated Active Cannabinoids
CBD: 0.22%
CBN: 0.32%
THC: 13.82%
CBC: 0%
THCV: 6.49%
Total Active Cannabinoids: 20.84%.

The ratios of THCv:CBD are key here. According to human trials by GW Pharmaceuticals, it is thought that THCv and CBD don't play well together, competing perhaps for preeminence at CB1 receptors. While I admit I've seen relatively few THCv dominant lab reports, those I've seen so far confirm that nature doesn't do stupid shit: if THCv levels are high, CBD levels are low. And vice versa, obviously.
Cheers

If you're in Canada you can mail a 1 or 2 gram sample to one of the labs licensed by Health Canada (there's a list on the HC website).
I did that, and it cost $60 for a full cannabinoid panel, and $3 for the scentproof mailer.
The cost of postage to the lab was included in the price, and they sent a shipping label.
If you're in the states, @Rimrock Analytical does testing.

How extensive are these tests? Do they do "minor" cannabinoids like THCP, CBG, THCv, CBC, CBDv and so on?
I'm particularly interested in THCv and CBG. But I wouldn't mind getting a full rundown. Maybe I can manage to breed for a high THCP expression or something. 20% THCP at 30x the stone as THC? Yes please. Do you mind if I'm EXTRA cautious?

Thx very much for the info. I will be doing that.

I dunno. Went to the Health Canada website and found no mention of testing. Can you give me a clue where it is? It's not on the "drugs and health" page, as far as I can see.

Yeah I found the page. From what they say, they my only test for THC:CBD levels.

Barbarians. I was told in a chat with a SQDC employee that there was NO CBG or THCv in any of their strains. I told him I was about to go downtown to buy an OZ of Trainwreck (1% CBG) from them. Then he told me that there is no evidence that marijuana has any medicinal effect.

So I started quoting human trials and so on and asked him why he as lying.
He "hung up".

Barbarians.

If I lived in Ontario, I could access their lines of THCv and CBG products, of which here is an increasing supply.

The SQDC told me they're basically only interested in getting people stoned. They have no interest in promoting or even believing marijuana can provide health. Gotta wonder if they've even heard of the ECS. So I called them pushers then hung up on them.

Barbarians.

Which is strange. Because a 70 yr old friend of my landlady's told me he has Crohn's disease. He's had pieces of both intestines removed. As a result, he has a hard time digesting enough food to keep himself alive. And so, on his doctor's recommendation, he uses pot to give himself the munchies.

He asked me to look into the best appetite enhancing strains.

Thing is, a bit of research and I found evidence that CBN can help with Crohn's. You'd think his doctor could have spent a few minutes finding that out.

Found this: Novarine Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds | Crop King Seeds Canada

Now it may well be bogus.

Novarine Strain Feminized Marijuana Seeds, a marvel of Sativa-Dominant feminized marijuana seeds that thrill growers and connoisseurs alike. With a THC level reaching a delightful 15% and minimal CBD content ranging from 0-1%, Novarine Strain offers a balanced, uplifting experience perfect for daytime indulgence. This strain flourishes within a reasonable 8-10 week growth period, making it a practical choice for both novice gardeners and seasoned cultivators seeking a rewarding harvest. This strain ensures a cerebral high that sparks creativity and enhances mood without overwhelming intensity. For those ready to embark on a cultivation journey with Novarine Strain, look no further than Crop King Seeds Canada.

From other places I read that The Novarine has a 50:50 split between THCv:THC. Ad here they state that the CBD levels are low. So that tracks. Although low CBD levels aren't exactly rare. It's encouraging they got the 15% THC right. Right?
Gonna have to pull the trigger on this sucker. It well worth taking the chance.

This strain ensures a cerebral high that sparks creativity and enhances mood without overwhelming intensity

Evidence that may denote the presence of THCv. Hardly definitive, though.

Here's a link to the test results. It's a full cannabinoid panel, and tests for more than just THC and CBD.
A simple potency test for just those two was half the price, $30 instead of $60.
