Hyena's Never-Ending Adventures In Growing

Highya HM,

Great pics, as always. Love looking into a sea of colas!! The smell must be awesome. And the next generation in place looking big and strong!! The indica's become you (in growing).

Glad you're doing well through this epic event. Looks like it may be over next month (amid conflicting reports). Depends who's your news provider. Happy Smokin'

Thanks pal I agree, most people are already sick of this thing, no pun intended.

Thankfully I self-designated "weed grower" as an essential business. :hmmmm::ganjamon:

Stay healthy and high!

Peace, Hyena

If you know the end result, you could maybe put the buckets with the slightly shorter ones on a small riser or something? Put them on one side of the room and lower the light on that side a tick?

Well I doubt the slight difference in height will make any difference since each plant fills in the same pretty much. I was just curious why and when I figured it out I kind of wondered why it took me so long...

But I have an idea.

Here it is Thursday so let's have a

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

Another week, another week closer...

Ya think we're gettin' it done? Yeah. And every bud looks the same...it's a sea of frosty white!

The perfect stretch and the perfect canopy height. All from the same 2 plants so no clowns or surprises. Man I'm liking this clone grow.

Getting nice development in the budz...

Four or even five weeks away, their moms went 9 weeks 3 days. I expect better nug density this time so hold on tight. This crop could be the One.

And it's soooo cool because right now I'm smoking their mom. Their actual mom. She is gooooood. So I know exactly what this reefer will be like and it's super duper! It tastes very fruity at first which I totally love, then a nice solid cedar-y spice on the exhale. It's like it changes flavors. And the buzz is cerebral but also motivating, the half-pound I kept for stash contains a lot of nugs with some purple sugar leaves, a lot of random purp in this strain. The half I have is mainly the two mother plants as I wanted to really get to know the strain before I bring in a monster crop of it. From the great sweet bag nose to the taste, aroma, and finish...this shit is fire.

And the buzz is

So I'm probably gonna price this shit out of the world. I hate to be that guy but drought right now + my shit = yeah, that's gonna cost you bro. They still love me. I'm Baskin Robbins to my stoner friends.

Then I turned to the Indicas. Exotic beauties just entering their teenage...weeks.

They are stout and incredibly beefy, both in build and components.

I top the plants now right about at the scrog line. Been having some trouble getting a main stem under the scrog net again once it gets more than 4-5 inches above it so I'm seeing what even with the scrog does. Had to supercrop one already. Obviously one of the talls...

Plucking strategic mega fan leaves and each one exposes an entire branch for God's sake! These are the size of my hand plus at below-scrog level...

Gosh I'm excited for what this crop might become!

Probably take it down about Independence Day. Can't think of a better way to celebrate our freedoms...

Whether we're allowed them, or we simply take them because they are given by God, not by men. That's the Constitutional view anyway...

And don't forget tomorrow! 11 days til 420! Not a thing I just thought of it. Okay I'm high. :hookah:

Until next,

Peace, Hyena

The indicas are thick! Is now the first time you’ve topped them?

Yes. I know, right? Gorilla's blurb claimed up to 1000g/m...what the what?? Of course it's marketing but they post the number so I'm looking for serious excellence. I must say so far these 12 are little beasts. I have only topped 2 or 3 so far.

It's exciting!

Highya HM,

It's still impressive to look atop the colas, and see all the buddage. I can't imagine the smell, but the way you describe the mom, it has to be awesome! Happy Smokin'

Hello out there...anybody up for a

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE :ganjamon: PRE-4/20 update?

This week's journey into growing excellence was just what one would hope...smooth and easy!

I left the heat a little higher 6 days ago and that extra 4-5 degrees made a noticeable difference in the rate of transpiration in both tents. I expect a tent packed with 12 blooming bushes would eat up a lot of water each day but to my amazement, the Indicas in Tent #2 used up OVER 75 GALLONS in SIX DAYS.

I have never run a room full of stout little monsters like these but it's impressive. They are growing out as much as up right now and while that might mean an extra bit in veg to get them up to the right height, from the strength of the stems I think they can handle any size cola they can produce so we'll go wide.

The gigantic fan leaves are so huge I hesitate to remove them, but they don't just shade emerging branches, they completely cover them so I removed a whole bunch of them. Then a bit of scrogging and in the end the look was disheveled but it was necessary and I think they will grow better.

I'm leaning toward cloning these for the next project in Tent #1. I figure I have to prune the lower branches next visit so why not use those for clones? That would mean I would have 4 weeks until I could plant them. Seems perfect. Stay tuned on that...

Now Tent #1. The bloomin' clones are going bloomin' bonkers!

This room of gorgeous flowers couldn't be more perfect. It might be the healthiest hedge I have grown yet...every leaf tip perfect from wall to wall. I guess that makes sense since it's all the same plant really. If it's good, it's all good, I guess.

I'm just tickled pink that they are all the same and they look so strong. I guess I'm so used to growing 2 or 3 varieties every grow and of course someone is always more trouble than the rest. But this run is smooth as a baby's butt.

The actual buds are looking even better than their mother plant in my opinion...

So high hopes for maybe keeping this grow blooming until May 11th, when we return from a small vacay in Florida. That will likely be stretching the run as much as a week further than I ordinarily would but if it keeps looking this good I will.

So now that the 420 countdown is on, here's a little 420 present for my 420 friends.
The week before 4/20 is always sooo special...ahhh, the memories. Especially the ones I don't remember. :lot-o-toke:

Here's my redo of a famous poem, adapted to the stoner community's special occasion. I'm giving it to you in time for you to share it with friends by 4/20. Or after, if you forget. :p Enjoy!

It's best if you read it in your favorite stoner's voice. Or Morgan Freeman's.

Peace, Hyena

Highya HM,

I agree, the flower tent looks the best that you've done! So many fat colas! Oh, and the stoners poem was very entertaining!! Thanks for that. Happy Smokin'

finally the perfect plants we were used to!! great job my friend!

Hey thanks for that, my first 4 runs here were all to "dial it in'...I think we're finally dialed! I'm starting to think about doing another one...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Peace, Hyena

Thanks Bode, good to hear from you and glad you liked my little poem. We all do strange things when we're high!

But I have a medical excuse.

Another Saturday night and another

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE
update!

When I left at 6 am to shoot up to the grow hacienda, I planned on not much work and a quick turnaround. Wrong.

The Indica girls in Tent #2 are busting loose!

I'm soooo impressed I might just clone these and run them again. I have lost track of which is Incredible Bulk and which is Delhi Friend but I love 'em both. I have an indicator in each bucket which tells me what's in it but I can't see those. Let's just say they're healthy.

Did yet another big defoliation and got this bunch just about where I want them. Going to be a nice wide hedge in another week maybe...

So I got to thinking maybe next week I will clone from these, I mean, they look so damn good why pop a bunch of $15 seeds? I thought about it and the pros and cons as I unzipped tent #1 where my first effort at growing clones is working out pretty well...

WOW, everything in here went from white to orange in 6 days! The whole room is popping, it almost seems like they grew two weeks' worth in one week.

The frostation is really coming on now...

The lower height of this canopy is allowing outstanding sidelighting and production will be a lot better this harvest! I am getting really meaningful development a LOT further down the branches than last time and the additional lighting everything gets just by being at the right height is producing a forest of fur.

So now I'm thinking it will be a real stretch to keep this running until Monday May 11th. Because we're going on a four-day beach getaway in Florida, and it takes three days to chop and hang a harvest like this, I either chop on Monday April 4th, or Monday April 11th. We'll see on the next visit whether it will be possible to let it go that long. The way it looks now it seems like it could be ready in 2 weeks.

That forced my hand. I had to clone today to have them ready...or not at all.

So we cloned.

It's the same feeling I used to get at 2:30 am on Christmas morning when I would sit down to assemble a big, complex toy of some sort...putting the whole cloning system back together took two dedicated hours. There is a lot more to it if you plan to turn it on and leave for a week.

I took branches, all lowers that I was going to trim off anyway, of various sizes. Everything I do I try to establish a variable and learn something. I have a feeling bigger might be better but hey, I love to hypothesize and test those theories. We'll see.

As soon as I stick these cuts into the cloner and turn it on, it immediately begins washing off the Clonex gel that I dipped the stems into. It worked last time but It also took two weeks to see the first root bumps, maybe having it on there longer might give the cuttings a better start. So this time I trimmed them then stuck them into the Clonex gel and they soaked for awhile, up to 15 minutes for some.

Maybe that initial shot of hormones will be better absorbed and they will root even faster. We'll see. I got everything cut and trimmed and gel'd if that's even a word, and set all the timers. They look a little worse for wear at first but in a week I fully expect to see 14 perky, healthy little clones!

So that's the status, I'm interested as hell now to see if I'm going to be able to super stretch this grow and maybe get into the bonus zone, or if it has to be hacked before our trip. Stay tuned! In six days we will know!

4/20 looms.

I'm sure I'll have a special, even more rambling and incoherent entry for 4/20. Why not? Talk is cheap!

Peace, Hyena
