Hyena's Never-Ending Adventures In Growing

I got another unexpected opportunity to go upstairs and got a couple hours in. OMGGGGGGGG the stuff in the middle is some fine chunky shit mon!

I'm used to mainly sativa mixes, everything I just cut is Blue Dream plus all 3 of my hybrids are roughly 75/25 sativa so I live in a world where huge chunky buds are not the rule. So this Indica section in the middle is amazingly yummy with all the prizewinners on parade!

Today I dug into the Cheese Berry...a super-nice, dense bunch of lollipops. Very heavy colas and what a smell. Two plants yielded what will probably be at least six zips dry of premium bud plus lots of popcorn.

Plus I have three or four times that from the 6 BD's already hanging.

But the best is yet to come tomorrow...the Plush Berry. The biggest buds of all and plenty of them.

PLUS,

The White Hyena which is White Widow x Blue Dream...the first one I've grown...the colas are everything I could dream and more. At least a dozen big fatties. I have not seen them up close until now and they are impressive.

Pictures tomorrow, I know I will have at least an hour or more. Chop chop!

Peace, Hyena

Happy Sunday!

I give thanks for FINAL CHOP PICTURES!

I woke up at 4:45 this morning and she was sound asleep. I didn't even need coffee (my daily bread!) I was stoked to finish this. I shut off the water yesterday...the new kids are all over a foot tall...yikes!

This time I had a couple hours and took some shots.

The main grow was Blue Dream and it's always pretty. Pretty stony!

Many of the buds didn't plump up as much as last time but when I add everything up, the total weight is still there. There's simply a lot more buds, and the average size is a little smaller. I filled four rows in the drying area with BD buds alone, and I cut and trim sections that average 12-18 inches so it's a lot.

The Plush Berry is simply yummy looking...big sticky buds with a sweet fruity aroma...oh God trimming each one is so delightful. I wish I had more time but I have to work like a maniac.

The Cheese Berry is similar to Plush Berry but the flowers are not as red:

20170422_140115.jpg

It's some of the frostiest shit I ever handled. I can't wait to try it.

The trichomes are about 20% amber on everything so I think I pulled all this down at the right time.

I trim each lollipop as fast as my little fingers can fly. Desperation makes you focus. I have not been getting high during these trimming sessions...I don't want to cut off the end of my finger. And the precision trim snips I use would easily do it.

This was the bulk of the trimmed-up Plush Berry:

20170423_061017.jpg

The photo can't do the buds justice...everything is frosty as hell and solid.

I also chopped and trimmed two other plants, the White Widow x Blue Dream (White Hyena) and I think those buds might be the best of all. High degree of frostation. Very stinky.

I trimmed like a madman and the snips flew. I like my buds trimmed down well into the sugar zone...I clip all the bigger ones off each bud but any leaf that's more than half frosted I simply trim down even with the bud. Those frosty leaves may contain even more trichomes per square inch than the buds. Even with that it took a total of 5 hours to take down and process this grow.

So I finished everything, filling every row in the drying area to absolute capacity. There's so much it's amazing. I'm pretty sure it will be a couple pounds. The proof will ultimately be in the quality. This is for my own consumption so that's what I care about!

I will render further analysis and a smoke report on all these in a week or two.

Next the task of reconditioning the room, then some changes to the lighting and an updating of the water delivery system. Finally, transplanting the new kids in which will be a bitch since they are all over a foot high.

But seeing all that tasty weed hanging there as I closed the secret door made it all worthwhile.

I need a rest, but wifey is taking off for church in a minute so I can get an hour plus more done. Duty calls.

Peace, Hyena

Congrats on the harvest.. Pictures never do a bud justice. BD has always been a good strain for alot of peoples. Hope she smokes well for ya.. Keepem Green

Great job Hyena
Looks like you were very very busy trimming like a mad man. Great looking smoke too.
Later Bud
Always wanted to try that Blue Dream.

Got another hour in the grow lab...started the massive chore of changing stuff on the water delivery system (hoses) plus cleaning the room (a mess) plus changing my lighting (losing a 400W HID and installing a TWILIGHT LED GS1000 to test its efficiency and power) PLUS replacing the old carbon air canister filter with a new one twice as big (Geez, it's like 30 pounds!)...plus other stuff but first...

Pulling the old plants and getting rid of the mess...that's what I did with my hour. Everything bagged and gone to the dump.

Now here's what remains...of Project 24:

20170424_085147.jpg

My drying rack is 24 inches wide and I basically filled 8 rows, many stuffed to capacity. This is all the good buddage, trimmed up and drying. I am going to be very happy with the harvest!

Plus, from each of the four varieties I got a lot of sugar trim and microbuds. They are each in separate bins. This is the usable trim and popcorn from just the Blue Dreams:

So, here's a few shots of the goodies:

20170424_091133_c.jpg

The Blue Dream is very sugary. The frostation didn't suffer even though the epic fight for light resulted in smaller nugs. There's a ton of them anyway.

One of the best BD colas, it's over a foot long:

The Plush Berry:

20170424_091158_c.jpg

A lot of nice lollies indeed!

The Cheese Berry turned out pretty cheesy...

20170424_091146_c.jpg

And there's the White Hyena too, but it's all in the middle and I couldn't take pics but it's also a beautiful set of prize nuggies!

I'm so happy! :partyboy:

So the kids in the nursery are so huge I don't know if I can separate the root masses, nor get them through the holes in the bubbler! Look at these...

20170424_085248.jpg

Can you tell which ones are my Hyenas? Yes, you can! All but the right center (a couple autos) and all screaming and chomping to get out now! The other side looks the same! Yikes!!!

Can our hero recondition/repair/replace everything in time?? Will our heroines be saved? And can the secret lab remain undiscovered by the mysterious, hopefully-still-unsuspecting queen????

It simply never ends! Stay tuned!

Peace, Hyena

Looks like you had a great harvest Bud...GL
Later.

Man Hyena you r killing it!! Best journal I been part of lately!! Jus love the story of being so stealth. Need to get you a ninja outfit!! Lol!! Man the harvest looks outstanding and if there was a better adjective to explain your success I would let rite it bold italics and underlined!! Great work bud and you are getting everything you deserve. Keep the journals rolling your are doing epic things and just so happy you are doing it for yourself and not cash cropping!! Makes all that much better. It looks like the baby Hyenas are ready to get it going. Wish I could order seeds of baby hyena I would b all over it like white on rice like flies on shit like syrup on pancakes like peanut butter on jelly!!! Lol!! Keep the goodness rolling!!

Happy Wednesday!!

This morning I popped into the lab and snagged a couple buds off the drying rack.

Kind of like sneaking a cookie off the baking tray...

Stuff dries pretty quickly in my lab, humidity at 40% and two fans circulating gentle but steady air movement does the trick in about 48-72 hours.

I like my weed totally crispy and crystalline. Fast burn. I'm a junkie. :lot-o-toke:

The random nugs look frosty and fresh. Just barely handling them my fingers are sticky.

20170426_070953.jpg

I did five hits over about ten minutes. The shit is tasty and wicked strong. God I'm so high.

It's been ten more minutes since I wrote the last line. Okay I'm useless now. Not used to such a strong body high...I'm like, pulsating.

Success.

Have a great day. I will.

Peace, Hyena

Thursday saw another hour to recon the lab...

Now we embark on PROJECT 25!

This will be a SEED GROW, where I will attempt to create 5,000 primo seeds of my sexy new strain, BLUE HYENA. If we are successful we will introduce a new seed line to the market! (And advertise on this site of course! How freaking cool would that be?)

Finally got everything cleaned and vacuumed and reconnected. What a messy job. Shit...so much to do!!

First we must get the prodigal mothers out of the nursery while it is still possible to separate the root balls.

I can buy a day or two before connecting the now-fresh, PH balanced, and nutrified reservoir, by using my utility pump to directly water however many I get transplanted. Seldom do I get six hours to take my time. Actually never I think...

So it suddenly began when she took a walk. I scrambled the fighters.

First problem is the babies are HUGE!

Look at the size of the roots on these Blue Hyenas...they are only a month old.

20170427_190401.jpg

My problem isn't the health of my girls, it's being able to get time with them.

Being 100% stealth necessitates patience. I have adapted every part of my methodology to such an unpredictable schedule of personal interaction. The kind of fabulous weed I smoke enables me to write sentences like that one. Man I am HIGH. I am testing out my new buddage and it exceeds all expectations.

Okay, focus...sorry.

I started working them out of the nursery, first reaching into the churning water of the bubbler and separating the root mass from all the others. It's like separating spaghetti blindfolded. Then out with the big girl and into the Dutch bucket, freshly lined with a 5-gallon paint strainer to contain everything and prevent the medium from draining out with the return water. I have become pretty fast at this, but the plants are very forgiving. I do three and install the buckets before turning on my pump and watering them in one by one.

Because I use Dutch buckets and a gravity-return system, it can't overflow even if the pump stays on continuously (which I once did...oops) so I can just water one in until the water is flowing back into the reservoir, that way I know there is between 2-3 inches of fresh, oxygenated nute solution in the bottom of each bucket, and the entire medium is nice and wet. That will be fine for a day. You would think such a hurried separation of massive root balls would result in a setback but it never happens...they just rock on.

Look how huge these plants are! Two feet tall!

20170427_190604.jpg

The mix...mostly perlite with a base of 2-3 inches of Hydroton balls.

20170427_190018.jpg

The first couple are in...

20170427_190011.jpg

Coming out of the bubbler one by one!

20170427_190024.jpg

Four of the remaining plants are autos, I plan to put them outside...to my surprise one is already totally flowering!!

20170427_191209.jpg

So I got five out of nine transplanted and watered in. I will have to get another hour to finish everything but I feel good about the unexpected opportunity and getting a lot of it done!

All the buds are slowly drying...probably another day. I like to wait until the stems snap cleanly. Can't wait to gather them all and trim it and jar it. Patience is such a big part of this hobby.

Peace, Hyena.

Please let me place the first order for the Blue Hyena Seeds!! Please please let me me b the first customer!! Will promise a 420 mag grow journal!!! Lol!!! Everything looks outstanding like formally!!!

Hoorah for project 25. Go Blue. Great job Hyena. Big plants.

High folks...it's Friday!

So, I got up at 3:30 am and went into the lab...got to finish this no matter what.

Got the rest transplanted and watered in. The "kids" average 18" high and some are 2 feet...so basically I brought them all into the main room, then topped them.

Connected and tested the water system and we're back in business! I will give them a few days to adjust to the new home and 24/7 light. Got to blast this grow now and make lots of amazing seeds.

I suspect it won't be quite as easy as it seems...nature, you know!

A any rate, I took all the now-pretty-dry buds down and spent a few quality hours clipping them off their twigs. Golly that's so fun!

The Cheese Berry...about 4 1/2 zips of the best buds.

20170428_080330.jpg

As always, it will not be quite as much as I hoped, but will more than exceed my expectations. As you clip and clip, it really adds up!

The Plush Berry before final de-nugging:

20170428_051304.jpg

PB came to 4 zips also. Plus a gallon bag of the lesser budlets and sugar trim from each...can't forget that.

This is the big tub of Blue Dream I haven't got to work on yet. God it's a pile. At least as much as the other stuff combined...

20170428_080019.jpg

Plus there's another couple zips I'm sure of the White Hyena. That stuff looks amazing, very frosty, but I don't have a pic yet, haven't trimmed that yet either.

I can smoke all of it now and it's as stony as it gets! I have sampled all four and they are all primo! Everything. Even the little popcorn buds do the job nicely. I am very pleased. Much more dedicated smoking is necessary before I can pen a true smoke report but give me a few days...

Right now it's almost 5 pm and I've been up for nearly 15 hours already. Going to be an early night. Lots more to do in the grow room tomorrow.

Peace, Hyena

Congrats.... That Blue Dream can be a monster.. Work your fingers to the bone and what do ya get,,, A tub full of herbs thats what...
