Hutch's Canadian Grow Comparison Featuring Black Sugar

I would hesitate to compare anyone's plants to anyone else's unless the strains were identical and the environmental conditions very similar! I think I just have some great genetics this time out.

In terms of amounts, I started feeding mine a bit late, then raced from 3.0 to 4.5 in an attempt to fix the deficiencies, and over-corrected to end up with burned tips. I'm now back at 4.0 and they seem happy, at 48 days. They're still in 1 gallon pots and I am itching to get them to 7 gallons...if they would just tell me what sex they are!

Her last feeding was at 4.5g/gallon and there were no ill effects and don't expect any problems bumping her up. You guys have me scared  now so I'll probably leave her at 4 to 5g for now.
On top of what Shed said here's another reason why you should only increase as the plants change stages or they show a need for more.
By adding extra MC over that of what the plant can uptake you are building up a toxic storm under the soil. P and K are not in high demand yet, so there's going to be a buildup of those two major nutrients. Too much N at this stage and then all that K can't get used up because too much N causes a decrease in availability of K and creates more of a demand on Mg.
So others are running into trouble trying to make sense of it all and others are finding the hard way that PK boosters and supplements don't work with MC.

Your plants look great if not a little on the dark green side, which is a sign of feeding at the high end.

Excellent explanation! I understand much better now. Would the best approach be to go down to say 3.5 for a couple of feedings to use up the P and K?

She's looking pretty good today, no ill effects yet and those new branches are still growing! Might have dodged a bullet here!

Seedsman Black Sugar #1 - Day 29 - 2.75" tall - Two gallon pot

Apparently ive been feeding my lambs breath auto more than i suspected...after learning last week ea 1gr/gallon is roughly 150ppm. My last feed was monday day 21... at what i thought was 4gr/g but if i did the calculation ppm was 1050 minus my tap at 200ppm...it was actually 5.3gr/g....havent seen any ill etfects yet but now i have a scale and will most likely give her 5gr next feed again

Edit: with that said, i most likely have been overfeeding since seedling but have not ran into any issues. Well except that its preflowering after day 23...but dont believe thats MC related.
Leaves do look slightly darker so may scale back depending how they look during next feeding

Yes I think 3.5g for another week and then look at bumping up to 4g will work fine. More often than not after one month of growth if your plants are light on the amount of MC a Mg def will start to show with a lighter color of green. You'll notice that first but as soon as you increase by half a gram the problem normally disappears. Early Mg def can be corrected.

I think you topped yours last Saturday so I'm guessing you're almost at the one month mark now. The slow growth this week could easily have been attributed to the topping as well.

Glad you got the scale! That's an even higher dose of feed than I've been giving! No harm done though. I'm sure you've read MrSauga's posts here and his explanation why things could go haywire.

I got my first bag of MC in October and immediately started feeding my Lambs Breath. It was day 23 and I fed her 4g/gallon. :bong: Must have been her first big drink because I didn't water/feed again until day 32 and then bumped it to 5g/gallon. She turned out really well, much better than my previous two. For some reason I'm finding her to be a much stronger sativa as well, sometimes almost too strong for me.:hookah:

Hello folks, here's another update on our Seedsman Black Sugar grow

Seedsman Black Sugar #1 - Day 31 - 3.25" tall - Two gallon pot
A few more days and we'll be tying her down in quadline formation.

Here's Black Sugar #2, her "wonky but getting better" sister:

Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy the Superbowl if you're into that sort of thing!

They look supah healthy, nice decapitations!

If you really want to make the plant perform better, take the decapitated part and put on top of a stick in the dirt next to the plant. Big-time motivator!

I wasn't enjoying the Super Bowl until the fourth quarter, then I enjoyed it more :). Plants look good Hutch!
So you're saying the Kansas coach used the old head-on-a-stick routine to inspire the team?

Seedsman Black Sugar - Day 33 - 3" tall - Two gallon pot

Here's our Seedsman Black Sugar (formerly known as Black Sugar #1) after we have begun the next stage of quadlining. The shoots are very small but tying down the top two will allow the bottom two shoots to grow faster and in a couple of days they will be tied down as well.

She was fed yesterday, 500ml water with MC at 3.5gm/gallon. I'll feed her the same in two or three days after which the soil should be free of any excess nutrients and I will then bump her feed to the recommended amount.
