How to: Simple Hydroponics

1) can i get the Air butter -> ionizer from America ? where exactly ?
2) How do you operate it I mean Airbutter ionizer ? Do you put it on 24/7 ? or is there any schedule ?
3) Also i went to Light market (locally) yesterday and found MH bulbs (set only) with big ballasts. I also found HPSV yes it has "V" in the end and the light is not transparent but rather white like cfl flourscent tube bulb...So will it be okay ? Will MH (it is transparent and seems okay) is okay for VEG and Flowering stage. both i mean. Is MH sufficient for the work (the shopkeeper giving 400w with 1 year ballast warranty and 6mnth bulb warranty)
4) How do you calibrate CWP 24/7 Nutrient Meter ? Is anything special is required i mean any (ph/ppm solution) to calibrate ? because if i have to purchase it separately i will buy it with the item itself...
5) What is the GREAT WHITE thing ? (in beneficial tea) company which produce it ?
6) So now i will get Phresh 6" carbon candle, 6" Max fan (i think you said it has 3 speed control already so no need for controller), UV 80H or Air butter ionizer, Ona Block Pro, 6" duct 25mtrs or less, What abt the Light HOOD ? can i DIY it ? or will i have to purchase it with the light itself ?
7) please suggest a cheap humidifier from amazon or ebay. No knowledge in that field.
8) also want to ask did you mean Ozone Air Systems, ozone, air purifiers, air deodorizer, odor control, airborne virus, healthy air, residential air purifier, commercial air purifier.

I researched the airbutler. It is important to understand that this unit runs in the room and attempts to clean the air in the room. It will not, and CAN NOT filter EVERY bit of air that goes out the exhaust. While I do like the airbutler, it is not a replacement for carbon or "inline" uv sterilization.

1. Get the UV-80H instead of the airbutler.
3. Don't get the magnetic ballast. Get something like this:

Don't get 400W. Get 600.
4. YOu need the solution if it doesn't come with it.
5. It is beneficial bacteria.
6. Yes buy a hood as shown in question 3
7. Don't buy that yet.

1) The virtual Sun light link you posted is 110v.... i also looked at the convertor (240v to 110v) it will not be very cost effective to run it...
I think the expense will be 250(light package) +100 (convertor) = 350 it will be better if i spend that amount to buy LED setup....
I am thinking of buying this LED (Mostly flowering) Mars II 700w
and CFL/T5 for Veg/clone Setup
what do you think ? will this be okay ? or shall i look somewhere else ? any other option ?


2) The UV light is so out of budget i mean

Carbon filter setup= 300$ (if we count all shipping etcs)
UV light abt 300$
Ona mostly 100$ (with the said chemical in the ona bucket solution)
Gonzo Odor Eliminator 32 ounces x2 = 35$ (including taxes and shipping)
Total = 735$ !!!!

I think to get NIRVANA - > Northern Light seed (known for good and low odour)... It is not abt Yield now it is abt sustenance...This will move to Yield after wards but currently security is major concern. What you think ?

4) Can you suggest a Very high CBD but very low THC strain ? from nirvana or bonzoseeds (only this option i have which allow my country) I do not need HIGH i need Medicinal oil... (i heard abt charlotte web but came to know that it comes as clone only...SAD)... If u don't know any cbd high but thc low strain than suggest a good strain for LOW ODOUR and standard yield.

1. Buy a digital ballast, I was just sending you that link as an example. There are plenty that run on 240V. I don't care for LED. They don't have 1/10th the intensity that a HPS bulb has, the spectrum is narrow, and there is no way to vent off the heat. Take a look at my pictures. If you like what you see and want to do the same, get HPS.

2. Yes the UV light is expensive. Go with the carbon filter for now, and see how it goes. The carbon may be enough for you. If you want to COMPLETELY cover the smell, you may need to buy the UV later when you get into flower. You can always add it later.

3. Northern lights is one of the best, classic strains. Just remember it takes 11-12 weeks to flower. Where some other strains only take 9.

4. I'm looking for a high CBD strain too, let me know if you find one. For a good strain, I would suggest something like OG kush. Odor usually depends on the phenotype so you never know.

You may want to reconsider your outlook on LED, they are actually much brighter then HPS for the same power draw. Yes you do not have a vented hood like you can with HPS, but the heat output is so much lower(main reason why they more efficient). So overall you spend less electricity on venting. Yes each individual,diode is a a narrow spectrum, but that is why the good panels have good mixes of diodes of different wavelengths. In fact with the newer panels you have a better spectrum balance then HPS. Plus during the warmer months less $$$$ on AC. Plus no bulb replacement every 6-12 months. The panels last 3-5 years. And the curve for diminishing output over time is much more 'horizontal' then HID lighting.

The consensus that I have seen from those that went from HID lighting to LED, I can not say cause I went str8 LED for the green/tech factors, is that the buds may not be as big, but denser overall. And some have said more potent. All I know I have been very happy with my buds that I have gotten under LED so far, unless I screwed it up for other reasons.

You may have gotten bad impression with the first gen LED panels, low wattage diodes and not good spectrum mix. But you may want to re evaluate them, IMO in 5-10 years no one will be using HID lighting.

The worst thing about LED IMO is the rip off artists out there selling a panel for 2-4 times as much as it should cost. So one needs to be careful about whose panels to buy and there are many bogus claims out there.

My current 'dream' grow room would have 4x~600 w actual power draw LED panels and 1 1000 w hps with a hood that disperses over wide area for each 10'x10' space.

Not trying to doubt your skills as a grower, after all I am 'copying' you method, just my 2cents.
 
Ive been at this for some time,played with soil,bb,rdwc,and for the last year the Cap'n method, i will tell you hands down,I will NEVER change back to any other "style"of growing,the man saved my game, i was ready to pack it in,not from previous poor results,but from boredom.

the plants i will show,should have died long ago,they were cuttings from plants that died of root rot(dwc) in the span of 30 hours all dwc plants died...these poor girls have seen a horrible life,they have been moved,1 hr by car on day 50 of flower,fallen over,branches taped and tied together,AND i was in an auto accident,spent 7 DAYS away from them,NOBODY checking on them,lights came on,water came on,nothing skipped a beat,the resiviore was down to its last water,I DO NOT BELIEVE any other style,would fare as well--3-4 day weekends not a problem with the "Cap'ns"method,,its pretty cool to have a long weekend,come back and the plants are 4 inches taller.To those sitting on the fence?? get off it and get some croutons,get yerself some"CAP'N STYLE"

I think the Cap'n should have bought stock in Grodan,before he let the secrets out,my local shop use to order 5-6 bags a month-now they order 30 and run out.

Your array of articles are very informative and well done and I thank you for taking the time to write and attend to them. I'm getting ready to give this a try and was hoping if you have time after Easter that you could go in depth a tad on how you constructed the PVC drip ring you made, ie; # holes, size of holes, spacing, etc...in other words, anything at all you consider relevant. Thanx so much.

Check out the picture and build one similar. 200gph will push about 30, 1/16" holes. If you don't want to go to the trouble, get the "hydro halo".

BOOM! That is a jackpot O bud right there. WOW. I'm envious. Fantastic job. Will you remind me again what strain this is? BTW the foxtailing isn't an "issue". It is just they way some strains grow. I have grown some strains that foxtail over and over again, and other strains sitting right next to it don't foxtail at all. There is no disadvantage to it, just a little harder to trim.

Looks great. How much you think you have there? That giant cola is a chonger.

That "strain" is lemon kush, Ive never grown it before, the only thing i can say,it is absolutely the most smell-less weed i have EVER SEEN,in my 30 yrs as a burner...has zero smell(weed scent) very pungent lemon/citrus smell and kind of "burns"your eyes when working on them.
for the last 30 days I didn't even run a carbon filter/straight to outside.

As cut from tree-they were 83.18 oz(I NEVER WEIGH WET,BUT I'm trying to show my son the drying loss of 75-80%)
after everything gets de-branched-trimmed and cured,I;m thinking around 15-17 oz's
