Sounds like you made it correctly. It should taste terrible. The cannabinoids in the extract is very bitter. Bad taste means good meds. Just for reference the correct name is cannabis concentrated oil/hash oil/honey oil. Yes we know Rick Simpson named it 'hemp oil' but it does cause a lot of confusion between concentrated cannabis oil and hemp oil.
420 gave you some informative links. Pay close attention to the 'dosing' one and review the oil tutorial. Lots of good info and experienced people who know the oil and are healing/healed themselves. Any questions please ask.

This past Feb, I discovered a simple holistic hack in making RSO that really cleans up the oil, effectively doubling the potency. It's very easy, so if you know how to make RSO, you will get this. Here's the magic - add distilled water to the wash before boiling out the alcohol. The water absorbs the water soubles that normally get boiled into the oil. By cleaning out the polar and semi polar compounds, winterization can be done in under an hour.
So now, you can take 2oz cured plant and have vapable decarbed winterized oil in under 2 hours. I have multiple lab test reports showing Total Cannabinoids in the high 70's. Given this is such a cleaner oil, I call it Refined Cannabis Extract, aka RxCE.

Didn't Rick S. talk about adding a table spoon or so of water in the wash ?? Or in the alcohol boil off and decarb process ? Did that do the same as your method ? Similar ?

Please link me to the detailed steps, sounds legit because I’ve added eye dropper of about 6 drops when decarbing based on some experimentation and it did seem to improve things, though I’m not big on testing equipment so my only evidence is subjective. I’d be happy to send out samples for testing if anyone with the equipment would be willing to helpHi everyone,

Yeah, he added 10 drops of water to the final boil down, but then boils out the water! That didn't do a thing, all the trash is still in the oil. You have to drain out the water if you want it to do any good.Didn't Rick S. talk about adding a table spoon or so of water in the wash ?? Or in the alcohol boil off and decarb process ? I did see some info on RxCE and I will definitely by experimenting. Anything that can streamline and improve process/. Quality gets my attention. Disclaimer, I won’t vouch for anything I haven’t tried myself and always will recommend tried and true methods that are organic and medically valid. Hence, anyone reading my stuff needs to be aware of the growing methods and oil extraction methods from links in my signature and threads that are tried and true for me.

Be mindful of transfer losses. This process requires a lot more handling than simple RSO, so you can lose yield if not careful. Here's a helpful trick when dumping the waste water. Pour the waste water through 500 MESH stainless steel woven screen to capture any sediments. You can dissolve the sediments with alcohol then use that alcohol to dissolve the contents in the boiler.
Here's what I use folded into a ball. Balled up, its small enough to fit in a jar that I can pour in warm alcohol and shake to dissolve the captured sediments. It's easiest to ball up the screen, then put it in a tea strainer for pouring through the waste water a couple times. You'll be pouring out cold icewater so the oils will easily be caught in the mesh.

There are 7 lab tests presented on the website. Subsequently, my last two lab tests have resulted in Total Cannabinoids at over 80%. This oil is clean enough to be vaped. Now if you boil down the waste water and taste than oil, its really, really bitter because it has the polar and semi-polar compounds that makes RSO really nasty. By distilling in water and dumping out the water, you get cleaner non-polar resin for winterization. This is critical. Dumping out the waste water removes the semi-polar compounds. This disrupts the balance of lipid compounds and allows waxes to crystallize at their melting point. You can actually see wax formation by placing the redissolved resins in a metal bowl and placing that in ice water. This is what I call 'Rapid Winterization'.
