How To - 7 Gal Rim Mount SCROG Pots In 2 X 4 Tent - 8.25 Sq Ft

Thanks Buddy

BTW I have not forgotten the Final Product totals for the 7 and 10 gal pots, just
waiting for the 7 gal (GSCE) to finish so when I do the totals it wont be split up.

I am really having a hard time deciding if I want to go with 2 Ten's this time ? the 7 gal
looks like it may be big enough for my style, but need to have a look at the root mass
when she finishes up to make a better judgment.

If I could just go a little bigger say 4 X 4 instead of my 2 X 4 I could get double my
finish by adding 2 more pots and cut the cost per plant totals listed earlier nearly in half :)

10 GALLON POT
ROOT MASS @ HARVEST

OK Here are some photos of the ROOT MASS at Harvest.
NOTE Something I have begun to notice, is it common for
the TAP ROOT to be EQUAL in LENGTH to the top height ?

Just saying I seem to always get TAP Roots that are EQUAL in
length to the top, I should count the big side root branches and see
if they equal the top number of branches. Could it be copying what
it does above ground ? Just my sideways thinking coming into play

OH BTW Something I wanted to ADD
Looks like I still had a good amount of soil not yet
root bound. I could easily breakaway the soil up to
the original 1 gal starter pot area, that part was very
solid.

SO maybe I can get away with 7 gal pots ?

I knew you hadn't forgotten.
I've heard that the Blackberry is hard to trim. Can't see it from the pics, but let us know...

Yes I can see how it could be if I were to trim it tight, but since there IS a lot of good stuff
on the leaf I dont trim near as close so not to bad. :slide:

Nice ladies Gazoo! I bet you get a pretty good pull from those. It is rather interesting that the root structure does look similar to the branching structure... great job noticing that!
I think you probably could get away with 7gal in there, I plan on running Groot in a 10gal for her first run. So I sure hope she utilizes the soil... that is a bummer when the roots dont develop the way you think they are/should. I know I was very confused on my last run, pulled her outa the soil with very little effort.
Anywho... You did great work there, and that delicious smoke is gonna reward you for it!!:goodjob:

Thanks, it did go fairly well :D

You know I cant remember who or were it was someone was commenting on the idea that
maybe certain branches/Leafs are fed by a specific root. I kinda wanted to offer this picture as food
for thought on that idea ;)

Looking great Gazoo! Congrats on the very nice harvest! Still 1 tho go right? Go 4x4 if you can and double your output! If You get as much yeild from the 7 as the 10 then maybe stick with 7s but if the 10 yeilds significantly more then go with the 10s. I'm a little disappointed with my 15s but let's see where they are in a week and what the yield is.

Damn that sucked, I did a stem removal from the hanging BLACKBERRY,
been 3 days @ 66/72 F and 55/62 RH. in the past I have had the problem
with them drying do much before jarring so did it a little sooner

BAD IDEA

After trimming all the buds from the Hanging stems/branches I put them into
the canning jars with a 62 BOVIDA Pack and my humidity gauge. Did the whole
plant 6 qt jars and then noticed the HUMIDITY was over 75% in the jar.

Took it all out to put on a flat net to finish more BUT when I removed them from
the jars they WERE ALL STUCK TOGETHER so so so sticky just putting one of the
larger buds down on the plastic tray when I went to pick it back up STUCK DOWN
by its own weight (really stuck)

Anyway took for ever once I realized they needed to open air to dry more, sadly they
don't look near as nice since I glued them all together

I have that problem with fully dried buds, they all stick and clump together.
I no longer keep much in jars, have been using a CVault for current use weed and food grade 5 gallon buckets with gamma lid and a 62 integra pack.
They still stick but I am not trying to fish them out of the mouth of a jar.

Thanks for the tip, I need to figure out a better way. Yes it was the removal from the jars
that did the damage, had to deform them to get them out then squeeze and pull apart,

Thanks again I will need to look into something with a larger opening. Sticky buds just my bad luck :)

I originally saw the food grade bucket with gamma lid idea from medgrower1 or hygrohybrid on the tube, but I see many here do the same but with a turkey bag inside. I have no idea why they add the bag, or if it makes any real difference.

Wow Gazoo, sounds like a pain but at the same time sounds like great sticky smoke!! Gotta say, too wet is better than too dry... at least you’ll keep the flavor and smell. I over dried my last harvest, still nice and smooth and had a good smell but the taste isn’t there. Sorry for your troubles, but I’m sure In the end you’ll be happy with the finished product.

Oh I am very happy with the Result, but I can't ever remember having a batch as STICKY STICKY as this :)
Seriously It like glue when I put a large bud down on a ribbed plastic cloning tray and then went to pick it
back up the whole tray was lifted with the bud and actually had to give it a twist to remove it. I am sure I could
take a small bud throw it at the wall and it would stick, if I could even throw it , probably stick to my hand. I
was having a real hard time getting the smaller buds off the scissors once trimmed :)

Smell is very strange cant put my finger on it but very strong once handled, not so much just sitting.

Thanks again I will look into the FOOD GRADE 5 gal. is the Turkey bag filled with the bud and then placed into
bucket ? or is just the bucket lined ?

The rim of the gamma lids lock onto the bucket and then they have a threaded lid the spins open and closed.
I think shiggity was putting the bags as a liner into the bucket, then locking it in with a gamma lid (rim), so when he spun the center lid out he had a plastic bag lined bucket.

I could be wrong about that and some others may speak up and tell you how they do it. I don't use a bag and don't really see much purpose for it. If there is a good reason maybe someone could fill us in.

btw, you can find them at your local mega hardware store.

Cool thanks again, was just internet searching them and looks like I only need to purchase the Gamma lid that
will fit the typical 5 gal bucket. They don't look very expensive but will to by usual CL search to save a buck :)

Maybe shiggity used regular 5 gallon buckets and lined them with the turkey bag.
Food Grade buckets are more expensive than regular ones.

Yup, Sounds like the reason, I have some food grade buckets already so just the lids are needed I suspect.
Again thanks for the Heads-Up Really dont like the look of the buds now BUT only because I had viewed
them before the sticky episode :)
