How do you personally begin your plants? Check this out it may save you time!

How old are these ladies? Were they all growing at the same rate until a certain extent? I'm wondering if they all were even until each one hit it's capacity in its grow container. Solo cup root ball would be able to accommodate a lot less than 3gal.
The pic was taken on day 42 form seed so about a month of actual veg and yes they grew same rate until about the 2 week point then the 7 gal just left em behind obviously thats what would happen given enough time no matter what...I just feel like each transplant sets a thriving consistent veg back a week or so if not more

It don’t matter. It was never a controlled test of anything, just a ? Mistake... forgot or didn’t want to up-pot. Lol . Goofy

Haha all good man. I was mainly curious is all. I was thinking maybe they all stayed even to an extent but would make for a good test.

Yeah gotta agree a one off doesn't really mean anything.
Could be the genetics of that phenotype.
But, personally I prefer to plant a germinated seed directly in my final pot. This is because of my chosen method of growing and my medium.

There is nothing at all difficult about it, in fact its much easier than phucking around up potting 2,3 4 times where you have to pick the right times before you get root bound and then the constant replanting.
That to me just seems ridiculous and totally unnecessary.
I prefer my grow to be as natural as possible.
In my situation I have to do one transplant solely because the worms in my pot will undermine a tiny just germinated seed and plant thats only a couple days old so I plant seed in solo cup then in 7 days which is when roots will be at bottom of solo cup, that 7 day root mass is enough to stand up against the worms rummaging around under them.
Its also nice to start the seed in a lite seedling soil thats not as rich as my regular soil for those first few days.
It also gives me the opportunity to totally coat the roots with a dusting of mycorrhazae when I transplant from solo cup.
But overall if I didn't have so many worms I would plant the germinated seed directly into my 20+ gallon fabric pot.
In a properly aerated soil and properly watered the roots will completely fill a 20 gallon pot very quickly.
All I do is just water in a circle around the plant about 3" away from seedling, I water with aloe vera and Yucca extract which is like a root tonic and also is a wetting agent so disperses the water evenly .
The roots will reach out to the water, in a few days I do a 4" circle then a 5" circle and within 10 days or so you just water the whole pot.
Now when I say a circle around the seedling, like 3" I am watering lightly the rest of my whole pot just not within that 3" circle near the plant.
I still have cover crop, worms, bugs, microbes that needs moisture.
You just don't want too much moisture right at the tap root of that tender seedling the first week or so.
Now when I use solo cups the first 7 days is in the cup, when I transplant into 20+ gallon fabric pot I just water the whole pot day one.
The plants roots will find and follow the worm tunnels that are like little nutrient pipe lines full of oxygen and they spread and grow like wild fire.

If you grow in soil your best bet is a Living Organic Soil with a proper soil tilth and aeration in large fabric pots.
If you wish to bottle feed then you're better off just growing in coco mixed with some pumice and maybe a handful of worm castings.
Neither of these two methods require transplanting , rootballs, or wet/dry cycle, in fact just the opposite.

Good point. The smaller the container of soil the sooner the plant will become root bound and start growing slower.

Thinking about it, farmers plant one time with seeds or transplant seedlings into the final spot in the row. Can't say as I remember reading about them doing multiple transplants.

The very best way to get any grow started....

Seeds: using a UVA Bulb, yes a UVA BULSB. Take a small plastic container with a plastic grill of some sort that fits into container. Place grill so it has a slope resting at bottom. Place a water soaked paper towel, folded to fit over grill.
Now, if your smart, use a product at kelp4less.com, the Root enhancer there is above board.
Now, soak seeds for a day, keep in dark area.
Now, place seeds on higher side of grill. Top of container should not be sealed! Place seed mat underneath with a short gap between container and pad (so they will not fry.)
Immediately use UV light. The UVB Bulb should be in to 60-80watt at 385 nm area so you do not need to be so close, 40 watt might fry because it simply cannot get close enough!
Buy a bloody LUX meter for pete sake!
Now lower until you reach 1150LUX. Run for 15 minutes only! You see the magic number is 385, which is also.....PAR. Multiply PAR by 3.05 and you get 1150lux.
May have to open container when doing so, might get too hot...
Then they stay completely dark for another 23 hours and 45 minutes.
If using kelp4less, will pop in 24-48hrs! Second day, same thing 15 minutes. Keep at 79-81°, Place seed pad thermometer inside container, on grill.
You could continue on for days like that, they will continue growing.
After that, plant in 4" pots, not for plugs, they get too long!
Using a 315CMH at 4k lux with humidity at 75RH at 78-81° for pots

No not really a mistake but did have to do with being too lazy to up-pot...got 3 others in solos just like her...just put em into flower 2 days ago just to not let em go to waste was gonna try to get em outside but its too early still and if I didnt flower i would have to transplant but now my room is full so thats out of the question

I like to get about a 1/2 inch of tap root then plant half inch below the surface leaving plenty of room in the pot/cup to fill in in case of stretching...but thats a seedling that looks like it wants to grow for sure!

Hey @Nunyabiz , What you say resonates with me and the approach I take.
With bottled nutes and indoor growing where things are done differently, and plants are often vegged for a couple of weeks and then flipped to flower to gain an oz or two at harvest. I'm vegging outdoor sometimes for 4.5 months. I still clearly remember when I was in my early 20's backpacking, and seeing a wild cannabis plant growing in Nepal, it was at least 15 feet tall without any up-potting! Plus I find with training it can be a PITA to mess around with too. I've always wondered at the desire to 'build the root ball' and multi up-potting, by not doing it I never feel I am missing out and as far I can tell the results are like @Detroit Shroomz found. But 'horses for courses' and whatever works for each grower's circumstances is best for sure. That's why to grow this 'weed', it is great that there are so many different approaches that can be taken to get to harvest.

I also have loads of worms in my containers too, so I think what you doing to start them off in a cup for the first week is a good thing from my perspective. In my current grow, I started off with the intention of trying to do the multi up-potting approach, but I got pissed off with it early, and ended up putting them into their final pots as small seedlings before they had any root ball at all, just some wispy hanging roots, and now at their stage of growth, I am not sure if anyone could tell me that my plants would be bigger if I followed the suggested up-pottings, but each to their own and whatever works best for them is the right way to go. Cheers.

I wonder how many plants I can fit in this 2x2? One 7gal.... or 22 In smaller cups from the dollar store? I guess it depends on how many plants you want and how many different kinds of weed you want.

or you can try some. Dwc and play in the water. I’m not trying to argue with you @Detroit Shroomz brother, just trying to show you what I like to do...I was never dogging your experiment.... just was kinda confused. Lol

Hey Enjoil, Wow, you are sure packing them in with 22 plants, unreal! I can see if the number of plants isn't an issue that you'll be able to obtain a real smorgasbord of variety on harvest. 22 in 2x2 seems incredible!

I am only growing outside, so for me it is once a year, and with that limitation I want to make the most of the outdoor growing season, that means trying to grow them as chunky as I can without exceeding their 2 foot height restrictions for stealth. Also for me, it is not legal to grow in NZ, so if I have the misfortune to get caught I gather from reading prosecution cases here, that it would look better in court to have 2 or 3 plants instead of 22, I imagine the Judge would think that is a high number. I love the big gaggle of roots coming off your DWC plant! I look forward to seeing your incredible 22 varieties progress, I know nothing about indoor growing but 22 should be amazing!

Here's a pic of my 3 plants catching some sunshine! Like I said, I couldn't find joy in the multi up-potting and perhaps they would be a bigger size if I did but I don't really know if it would have made any difference or just more hassle, but we make our choices and take our chances. I feel I should still get a decent harvest from them if I don't screw up at this stage of the home run!

A judge? Lol. Anything under 100 plants isn’t a felony. I’m already a felon. This is a legal grow. High cbd hemp.
