Hell yeah! I'm in for another
@Herbies Seeds journal! Blessings on your grow!
I then used the power of rosin that was leftover on a dab tool to stick to the membrane slowly pulling it off.
YES! Brilliant idea.
Does it not have a sledge hammer effect on your brain?
It is a clearer and cleaner effect for me. A joint or blunt destroys me. I'm able to function much better with a dab and overall I prefer the flavor 1000% more.
Such a delicate procedure for a guy(me) that is used to sledgehammers and pipe wrenches.
Indeed. Cranking on some valves today that I was sure the stem would snap.
I’ve been lucky. I’ve done it twice and was successful both times but I hate doing it. I use a small plastic set of tweezers.
NTH
Yeah, I have had to do in the past a couple times. I wasn't as nervous because I have done it for many other types of seedlings (veggies and fruits). I prefer to give them a gentle mist and then cover them with a misted dome before they are about to breach. Leave them alone for the day or night and then see if the helmet comes off on its own. If not, then I use a pair of stainless tweezers. I get better tactile feel from the stainless pair I have.
Also, something I did some experimenting with this year with cucumbers and squash (notorious helmet keepers). I put a very thin layer of "turface" on the top of the soil. Turface is a type of fired clay used commonly on a baseball infield. Anyway, many bonsai growers use it in their soil mix as well. I also tried some 1/8" and smaller screened pumice and it worked well too.
Long story short, I had a 100% success rate with the seeds losing their helmets without my intervention. I haven't tried it with our precious beans yet though. I need to give it a go and just trust their vigor!
