Hemp Art Journal

There you go Pete! Pete's hempy jewelry and 420 Girls together. A marriage of cannabis proportions.

As good as this all sounds I don't think it's going to happen any time soon.Back to Hemping I got a sick plan in my stoned out head, and it came to me when I was stoned.I'm going to make 2 thick bands like in that ^Pic,I;m going to have them meet in a V and weave them together with small glass beads in a design around the V then have the length left turn into 2 twisted bands that go down in an oval and meet together with a bead hanging down.I hope this made sense as I was boned as I posted it.Will post pics but this one could take 3 days, but you'll see it eventually.:grinjoint:Somke on smokey people.:smokin:

Sweet green day today.:grinjoint:A toasty day indeed, and in the mail comes this super dank bead perfect for hemp and also a spool of black hemp on top of the beads.(Thanks)This is it in the picture I have black hemp on the outside bands and a strip of natural hemp in the middle. This one will be Dank indeed.:grinjoint:

Here is todays labors, not much but I wanted to show how sweet the bead was for hemp.I pondered putting black beads on the sides, but figured the black hemp was enough.I wanted to keep it simple but at the same time making something you don't see everyday.I'm glad I used the natural hemp as well,it contrasts the black and also screams its hemp and not just some crap out of a factory. Will post pics if I ever stop smoking long enough to do more.:grinjoint:

You're an amazing artisan. The way the hemp relaxes is cool. Nice work brother.

Pete's work is definitely a work of art.

Many who weave hemp use a thicker diameter of thread so that it takes less time/work to create a piece. Also, many will leave the strands essentially untied...using only a few knots throughout the piece to hold it together. Pete uses 1 mm hemp, which is about the thinnest diameter you can find. He weaves his whole piece and does so evenly.

Fine work indeed.

In the states, hemp thread is not too difficult to find...albiet a bit more hard to come by in rural areas. You can find it in nearly every craft shop and most head shops. Depending on the grade, color, diameter and amount, it can run anywhere from $4 to about $8 around here.

Hey thanks you guys for the great feedback, and thanks for calling my work art,and me an artisan(thanks freak)MsRedeyes is right about the cost of the hemp spools. For several years I always bought my hemp from the same place, the same head shop I've been using since I was 16.From there(Shout out to the Bench Shop)they sold spools from 6-10bucks depending on the diameter. They were made from Transylvania, Romania was of the highest quality Hemp.As far as the clothes go Moose the hemp jacket ran me 75-85 bucks and was the best money ever spent.Every thing I wear rips in the armpits but this hasn't in 7 years.
As far as the art of this, the black hemp not just nicely contrasts the hemps but it shows how I have to pull the two strands at the same time without pulling too tight or in the wrong place. Its allot of work having 24 strands and knowing which strand should go where. So thanks for all the support and Reps and just thanks for all the encouragementThe green bead with the black hemp should be done by late tonight,or tomorrow.:peace:Smoke on Smokey People.

An owner at a local bead shop here told me you have to be careful with colored hemp made in China. He says the dye often contains lead. Same with the beads. He told me you can test your colored hemp for lead by putting hand sanitizer on it...if it turns white, it contains lead. I'm not sure if this is true, but thought I'd pass it along....

Me again:grinjoint:not quite done but getting there. This gives the main gist of what it will look like when done.I'm proud, hours and hours of fun.I sometime wonder why I would spend so much time and care into something I get so little for in return. But seeing my stuff on people I care for is the reason I do it.:smokin:
