thank you again but unless i read wrong that thread only talks about ways to lower ph before you pot your plants by mixing different things into the soil mix.

yes because the soil is what will stabilize the ph of the water
adding certain things to drop or raise ph, ph up or down is not good to use in soil

Normally amendments are added to the soil/compost prior to planting.

A sort term solution to apply amendments would be top dressing the surface of the soil & gentle rake in the top half inch of the soil/compost
