Cookie Time!!
It’s been a long, long, long time since I made anything edible. And as it turns out, I only ever did it right once - by accident. Back in the taboo days, there was very little information online (at least from what I found), I didn’t know about decarbing and the one time it turned out good, it was with vape poo. I didn’t even know why it turned out good that one time until I joined this forum! Anyhow, my history of naïveté aside, armed with my new Magic Butter machine, I made some treats!
Mr. Hybrid went to the weed shop and bought a half of OG Kush bits that were made for rolling joints (cheaper). I also added a couple more grams do OG Kush buds, just for fun. I bought some turkey bags, and they are way too big for this, but it did the job and I decarbed at 240°F (my oven runs hot) for 30 minutes and there was no smell at all.
I let it cool and then added it to the MB machine. Next I melted 5 sticks of unsalted butter and separated out the butter fat, for an end result of 2 cups clarified butter.
Clarified butter added to the MB machine. I didn’t have any Lecithin, and it’s listed as optional, so we went without it this time around. 160°F for 2 hours. Set it and forget it! The machine was pretty quiet except for the stir cycle, but no bother. The smell was relatively contained, but standing right next to it, you could catch a whiff.
After it was done (2 hours on the dot) I strained it through a cheese cloth and fine mesh strainer, and poured the butter into its 2 Tbs cube mold and put it in the fridge overnight.
And voilà!
After figuring out the potency of the butter at 106.3mg per Tbs (thanks
@InTheShed) I decided to only use 8 Tbs (1 stick or 1/2 cup). My personal preference for edibles is to go on the lighter side and establish a nice baseline buzz, then I smoke buds as needed, so I don’t get too high. I also like to have one before bed to help me sleep through the night.
And now, the cookies! Assemble the ingredients.
Make the cookie dough according to the back of the bag and scoop onto baking sheets.

The clarified butter did make them cook differently than I’m used to. I’m glad I decided to use one stick of regular unsalted butter, just for the fat component. I ended up with 42 cookies, using 8 Tbs of weed butter at 106.3 mg = 850.4mg for the total batch. 850.4//42 cookies = 20.25mg per cookie. Shit! I must’ve figured out my math wrong last night. I’m really glad I wrote this post out before eating any!
I was hoping for between 5-10mg per cookie. So I’ll be eating half a cookie and report back later.
Mr. Hybrid already ate one last night. I usually eat a 5mg edible from the weed shop, with a true 5mg THC dosage, so that will be my base for comparison. Will report back later. So happy to be baking again!
