Funny thing is I found HH in your thread but thought I'd @ you in case you were caught up in school work .Thanks for the link Shed!
Happy to have you aboard Amy! I love having company in the tentI’m here! Wha’d I miss?
Going back to check...
Excellent info! Thanks Shed, I think it was on a leaf that I saw the amber too, so that make perfect sense.Looking nice and frosty! It's hard to tell the color of the trichomes in the purple light, so when you get the loupe tomorrow make sure you have a white light in there when looking or taking pics.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the trichomes on the sugar leaves will go amber before those on the buds (calyxes) so those are really the ones you want to keep an eye on.
Everything looks like it's coming together well!
Voting is open in the contests now, and at the top of the contest page you can see the buttons and the link that says "Cast vote." Anyone with more than 50 posts (like you!) can vote for Member of the Month (MOTM), Plant of the Month (POTM), and Nug of the Month (NOTM). Photo of the Month (PhOTM) is voted on by the mods here.Oh yes I should then! How does the actual voting happen? I read through the rules, but it didn't mention how to vote. I can't wait until I can enter too - it's so cool they do that, with some cool prizes too!
She looks beautiful HH but I would say she's just entered the Harvest window. A little bit of patience now will pay off massively. Trust me, I'm in a similar situation lol. Happy growingHello all, just a little update this time. I guess I'm just kind of waiting around for the trichomes to tell me it's time! I still just have my camera to check them, but I should be getting my loop tomorrow. From what I can zoom in and see, it looks like their little heads are showing, but still clear for the most part. I did spy a couple amber looking ones, but it's pretty hard to tell. I welcome any opinions about it! Here's my clearest close ups
Ooooohhh, getting close!! I’m a little over week 5 flowering, the seed bank said 9 weeks to flower. I’ve seen other journals for Mango Kush that harvested at 7 weeks! I know I want to wait, haha, I’ve been patient for this long! Maybe I can have a better idea after I take some pictures with a loop tomorrow. It’s hard to judge when to start flushing though. I’m going to have a longer cure time too, so I’m thinking ready to smoke just before Christmas? We’ll see!She looks beautiful HH but I would say she's just entered the Harvest window. Hope you don't mind if I jump in on the flushing concept! They look very good for week 5. 7 weeks is a possibility but that would mean flushing now. I'd give it a week and see what they look like then
@Mr. Magoo told me about it the other day, said he heard about it from you lol. I am currently in the process of trying it out as we speak. I didn't mention it because I'd like to have tried it first before recommending it to anyone. It sounds sensible though and I have a feeling it will be better. Thanks for that by the wayHope you don't mind if I jump in on the flushing concept!
I used to think that flushing was important when I started growing, but then another member here sent me a link that was critical of the practice. After reading it I stopped flushing before the chop.
A critical look at preharvest flushing
From everything I've read, flushing deprives the plant of the nutrients it needs just when you want it to produce the biggest bud. Buds don't uptake the nutes we give them. The nutes are taken up by the rest of the plant that then produces sugars to make buds. So flushing is starving the bud-building engine of fuel. I've checked this with Pennywise and he doesn't flush either.
There are some nutrients the plant can't use or doesn't need during the final stages of ripening so there are tweaks you can make depending on what you're feeding, but I don't think straight water is the best you can do for your plants as they finish.
I'm of the belief that a good dry and cure is the way to get best tasting buds. Just something to consider as you get closer to harvest.
LOL! I've kinda become the pied piper (Johnny Appleseed?) of the no-flush movement. No one has ever complained about the flavor of my buds, but of course no one smokes them until they've been curing for at least a month!@Mr. Magoo told me about it the other day, said he heard about it from you lol. It's good to share! People should have a chance to evaluate both sides and make a decision based on science. So much of what we read is just growers passing on what someone else said they should do because that's what they were told. Botany is not some unknown or unknowable voodoo .Haha. Yeah Shed. I share that link you gave me when the subject comes up so people can read it and at least take that into consideration when considering flushing.
