GT's Ongoing Garden of Weeden - Keep It Simple Stupid!

Very nice! Those dense flower tops have a very GDP look to them :thumb: I see what you mean by them coming from an original genetic trait where dense bud formation was advantageous to the plant in the original hot, windy and arid climate.

The dried bud photos you posted look similar to the Blueberry Kush buds I am currently curing. :) The KUSH part of my BBKs can trace their lineage back to the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan! Pretty much the same area your plants came from originally. :thumb:

It must be very special growing and smoking weed that is your own strain!!

Those buds look very nice. They also look well dried and cured. When I get out of the closet and get more room for growing I plan on doing the same!!!

When you harvest do you hang up the whole plant with leaves or do you trim first then hang. I have always trimmed first but have noticed several articles where growers hang the whole plant up for a more even drying process. The leaves will cover the buds so they dry out more evenly.

Just curious. As I am getting ready to harvest soon. :circle-of-love:

Thanks Ganga Ananda!! I am going to do the same this time around. All my previous grows I have trimmed the bud prior to drying. This seems like it is a much better way to preserve the potency!!

I see on the bottom of your jar you use to cure, you have a filter and a substance at the bottom. What is that? It looks like it could be sand or salt. :Namaste:

You are correct, it's white rice, cheaper and greener than the desiccant granules that this jar was designed for. It removes as much as I want, then the rice comes out, is baked at low temps to remove the water, sealed in a container and used again next time. It's important to dry it completely or it [and your buds] will grow nasty stuff.

How soon do you put your plants into the jar with the rice after hanging?
This is great info BTW!!! Thanks! :Namaste:

Good lookin buds GodsTrichome hope to here some more about them hope you and yours have a great weekend :)

Hey Tater ol pal!!:high-five:
I'm trying to get my laptop running. It has that "Vista Antivrus"virus...Nasty booger, cant get desktop to come up, even in safe mode, gotta dig in with some keystrokes in the promt mode, just havent had the time...On a good note, I landed some work, not much but I ain't complaining..More updates coming up...God bless you my friend.
GT :Namaste:

GG7, Yes my friend I believe that this strain does share an ancestry with the original GDP, which I have had the pleasure of experiencing many times also, and maybe even have ties with your BBK, from the Hindukush area, because there is a strong kush taste, aroma and effect. Although my friend couldn't disclose specific details , his location was no secret:Afghanistan..Seeds were brought back in 2003...The venture of rebreeding began 2004, Sugar Cane was born 2009. Finally stabilised to 3 distinct phenotypes last year with the regulars, and an Autoflower version. I will describe all on closure of this grow. But...something strange has happenened, possibility of a new pheno: The Twins, which is an Auto version, not only produced 2 plants from one seed naturally, of both sexes, but the bud structure and swelling are new, looking like the original Motherplant's....I bred these two, and seeds are confirmed and forming nicely, only a few stalks were used, with the rest being reserved to be pollenated with female

pollen once it forms. Hit the post limit, lol, guess I pulled a "goose" and replied with an update of sorts...lol...Well, gotta take a 420 break, " Playstationthrecontrollertypingitis" setting in, then to continue the origins story...

Ooo nooooo!!! Ive had that once. Better go take some pain meds ;)

Yes my friend, I am very fortunate to be smoking something that I worked so hard to create. Best part is it's tailored to my tastes and standards, so it is easily enjoyed. Everyone else loves it too, and that tells me I'm not just and old farmer that thinks his cotton is better than the rest. As for drying, when space is limited I break down the plants, but prefer Ganja Ananda's method when space is plentyful.:Namaste:

And my friend Ganja Ananda, I see a resurrection of sorts has occured!!!! A few minutes ago I hit the character limit on a post for you, but this PS3 console is unreliable and it times out alot...So I will be brief this time say this, it is an honor to me that our paths have crossed, and it is a pleasure to have you here. Thanks you for helping CF, he has been hangin here from early on and is a great friend to have.
My friend, I hope you stick around despite my "Like's" and commonly not so eloquent posts. Peace, and God bless:Namaste:

Man GT that plant looks great. Looks like the buds will get real big and thick. Lets cross my pineapple chunk pheno (super frosty) with your sugar cane and call it "pixie stick"
Hey Majic !!! Thank you, all MJ plants are beauties to me, yours are no exception at all!! Sounds like a great cross!!! This season they were crossed with the Auto AK47 x Auto New York City Diesel males, all seeds have been labelled and stored for next experience .Stay tuned buddy, and God bless!!!

nice bud gt plants look great RoorRip

SS!! Thank you bud!!! More of the origins coming later, peace and God bless!!:Namaste:

WOW! VERY interesting GT! :hmmm:

So are you saying that you are regularly getting twin plants from single seeds now? Do you know what you did to start that kind of behavior, or did you just selectively breed it into the stock you have now?

I would also be very curious to learn about how you can create an auto-flowering plant! I have always been intrigued by the idea of a strain that would just start flowering without having to jockey around the light cycles, but up till now, I haven't found too many Auto-Flowering buds that I actually like compared to the strains I prefer and what you have been watching me grow in my journal this summer.

I would LOVE to learn how to develop an Auto-Flowering GDP or BBK! But I assume that you can't develop uch behavior from a "clone only" strain right? You need seeds to work with as you go?

Auto-flowering GDP would RULE though, wouldn't it? :thumb: :high-five:

Goose, this is 1st occurrence of the twins, but my goal is to exploit it and make it more prominent.
To get the Autoflower trait , one must introduce the Ruderalis genotype into the equation . I used a well known and very stable Auto to breed with and have about 95% successful autoflower after only 2 generations...And the potency is near that of my original SC, just not quite... As for clone only, can you not breed to these plants?? Do they not produce seeds??Female pollen??:bong:

You got me there. I've never tried, being afraid to screw up the strain in the process. I have zero experience breeding Cannabis and the thought of having loose pollen around valuable strains like my genuine GDP scares the crap out of me!

Hey GT!

Just curious...why didn't you post this bud as your Bud of the Month Entry. I like what you posted....however I believe this bud would blow away the competition!!! :partyboy::rocker::theband:

As it should, the stuff gets everywhere.

I just put a bag over the head of my male,
and put him into cannabis jail,
away from my lady,
his behaviour is shady,
to keep him from getting some tail!

Hey Ganja!

So I've heard! ;) I generally do what most home growers do when they discover anything MALE in their seeded grows... Get Rid Of Them! :laughtwo:

I'm gone to pretty much an all clone grow schedule now, so when my Northern Lights and White Rhinos are done this fall, I will probably just focus on GDP and Blueberry Kush production next year.

The yields have been fantastic so far so I figure why mess around with anything else? :)

Still... An Auto GDP would be GLORIOUS! :yahoo:
