GSC outdoor grow with problems

I've tried ph up and down and I have terrible luck with them. When I want to raise the ph from 5, I put a tiny, tiny amount of ph up in the water, less then a drop, and I end up testing at over 8. So I throw it out a start again. Very frustrating at times. I'm over 50 and started growing in the 70's, never ever checking ph (not knowing what it was) and always having pretty good grows. Now I'm older, trying to baby these girls, and it appears I'm doing more harm then good some days. I really want to be able to clone these girls after harvest. Thanks for your post.

You are very welcome mcspade. Sounds like you would benefit from organic growing. Other than a few helper teas and some occasional top dressing of a few things I feed my plants only water. The nutrition is in the soil mix. If you are looking to enjoy the "back to basics" of growing I really suggest it. Check my current grow in my sig for more information. Sounds like you have a lot more experience than I, but am happy to share what I do know. I'm new(ish) to growing Cannabis but horticulture put me through University, so I know a couple things.

Same as you - I am no spring chicken. But I enjoy this hobby immensely. :)

I'll be doing a 'harvest - reveg - clone' very soon. Harvest happens in about 4-5 weeks and then the process starts over. I took good clones while they were in veg as well. It's all below. Perhaps our timings to do this will be close.

EDIT - whole reason for my rant, duh -> If you go the Organic route and do it right no need to measure pH at all. I don't. I did when I started, and still have the ability - just don't have a need anymore.

wood ash, quick and effective fix!

Thanks for another great tips conrad! I do know wood ash is very strong so I'll do some research first. I have kind of continued this thread at "The Mountain - Grow Support From The Over 50 Club" also. This site is full of great information.

I thought I would post an update. Since my last post i have flushed the plants with plain old RO water. Removed dead and dying leaves. I then watered with half a dose of Fox Farm BB & TB, cal/mag and aquashield in RO water. Then I left them out in the rain for a good natural flush. Now it's time to water again. The first photo shows the upper fans leaves from above. They get little rust colored spots.

This photo shows the lower fan leaves. At first they get little rust spots like the upper leaves, then eventually end up as they look. The upper leaves will eventually look like the lower leaves and die off.

This photo shows the whole plant. The plant behind her is her sister. These are girls scout cookie clones from the bay area. I"m planning on havesting then forcing veg growth indoors so I can get clones. But I need to find out what is causing the fan leaves to die off as they are. These plants have easily lost more then half of their fan leaves.

These are very special clones, every day they smell different. But I need to get to the root of the problem here because I am planning on geting a couple good mothers going. I want to grow this strain for years. I welcome any tips, Thanks!
