Growing Without Bloom Nutes By Farside05

I was going back through some of the earliest journals I subbed back in 2017 and found this:
Thanks. I'm on the fence at starting another grow. If I do its just because I want to, not for need. The wife is on hiatus from consuming at this time due to some other medication changes and a possible career change. I'll have north of 20 oz (a very conservative estimate) on hand from this grow and previous grows, won't know an exact number until i weigh out this crop. That much in inventory and no one really using, I'd strictly be growing for a few friends and not for personal consumption. I do have a new feed formula for bloom that I'd like to try out, so we'll see how long before curiosity gets the best of me.
"I do have a new feed formula for bloom that I'd like to try out, so we'll see how long before curiosity gets the best of me."

Did you ever get to that?

Had to recreate the wheel a little and scour the memory banks. History goes something like this:

1st grow 9/2015. Used Dyna Gro Foliage Pro and Pro Tekt. Under lit and under fed. Shit results.

2nd grow 12/2015. More lights, same nutes still not feeding enough. Getting better but still not much to write home about.

3rd grow 3/16. Starting to figure shit out. Getting closer on this feed thing.

4th grow 5/2016. Getting a good handle on the Foliage Pro and Pro Tekt feed regiment. Best crop to date.

5th grow 8/2016 Comparison grow of Foliage Pro only vs using Bloom Nutes. There wasn't a difference in the outcome but I favored using the Bloom Nutes for one reason...At the time I thought I needed to pH my nutrient solution before adding it to my soil-less mix. The Bloom formula came out at the right range without having to adjust with pH down. Now that I know that I dont have to pH my nutes for soil-less, why fuss with extra products when bloom nutes DID NOT produce a superior plant.

6th grow (the one @InTheShed quoted) 4/2017. Using the full Dyna Gro product line (like I did in grow 5 above) to feed plants.

7th grow 12/2017. Turned the tent over to the son and modified the feed. Instead of using Foliage Pro, Bloom, Pro Tekt and Mag Pro, we dropped out the Bloom component. It probably would have been the best crop to date but a cold winter and no supplemental heat in the grow space hurt yield in the end.

8th grow 3/2018. 1st attempt at a real low P grow using Orchidgain orchid food (a close copy of MSU fertilizer. Worked ok. Poor genetic autos and lighting were limiting factors.

9th grow 6/2018. A return to my roots with Foliage Pro and Pro Tekt. New light was a game changer. Great grow.

10th grow 10/2018. Tried coco. You can keep that s##t! Frequent waterings and having to adjust pH isn't for me. I did manage a POTM for the Purple Kush though.

The remaining grows are all in this journal. This journal has had: a switch to Mega Crop for several grows (earning POTM #2), moth balling my pH pen, adding a second tent, a grow with Jack's 15-5-20 for more Ammoniacal Nitrogen to try to stabilize the pH of my soil-less mixes when using higher alkalinity tap water, a second attempt at real low P via MSU fertilizer, and the development of FN Nutes®.

I really didn't mean for you to test your memory but thanks for that excellent recap! I look forward to your POTM using your own FN nutes. :high-five:

It is kinda funny that my new feed for the bloom stage, was to remove the Bloom product. Almost a precursor to this thread's title.

I'll probably add the NAA for December's POTM but shes still got a lot of bud swell to come. Nowhere near dense nugs yet. She'll be an even better January entry if she comes up short in December.

I think it was the first grow that you used only MC and silica (Summer 2019) to yield nearly 2 lbs - from 2 Blue Dream (autos?) and a GSC - that got my attention.
:bravo:

I wish every grow went like that one. The planets all were in alignment.

I don't think there's any way that the veggers will wait till the NAA is out of the other tent. I'll probably have to flip them later this week.

Who else in here is growing indoors and in soil-less?

Yes, except for 2 feeds where she got 170ppm of N.
Take the advice and learn from the pros. And how old is she?
Looks like she’d easily last next bout three weeks before the leaves would lose their colors or start to ripen.

The seed was dropped for her all the way back near the 4th of July. She was supposed to be an auto flower but never did auto. Nearly culled her because she wasn't the nicest looking adolescent. She was flipped to flower on October 23rd.

The veggers will get flipped in the AM. I really can't wait much longer if these things decide to get a good stretch on. They really got pissed when I topped them and cleaned up bottoms.

Not really a plant pic, but notice that I finally, after many years, finished painting the doors and trim in the weed office/lab.

Before

After

Everyone will need a feed of FN Nutes in the AM.

Also while working on painting, I found the missing jibbitz for my Crocs. Somehow it ended up behind the heater in the closet that houses the veg tent.

That’s like my baseboards - installed the floors years ago..

If the veggers were pissed off - I’d have to see what they would do if they weren’t - they are looking spectacular going into flip! Better stand back during stretch!
:yummy:
