Growing on little to no money

Cool thread!

Using fish tank water is classic aquaponics. You can grow some real monsters with aquaponics.

Like coffee. There is sonthing in the caffine that the plants thrive off of.

More likely the nitrogen boost from the beans than the caffeine. You don't get wild pH swings using fresh grounds??

I started gardening when I retired. Very poor mostly clay soil in my yard. Very poor results. The next year I rescued 3 goats and made a friend that manufactures all natural and organic products for large scale farmers. Between the manure factories (goats) and my friend's products I went from zero to hero with my produce. With my friends low cost products I could grow all natural produce with higher yields and nutrient density on the cheap, as an added plus its easy. Don't know if it would work the same on marijuana but since it is used and tested on about every fruit, vegetable and grass you can think of I don't see why it wouldn't. MJ still not legal in my state so I can't put it to the test.

I am in the middle of a $0.00 grow this summer, which is *much* easier outdoors. I make my own soil amendments in a large compost pit tilled by chickens, and use comfrey tea. A comfrey plant is the single best thing you can get if you have any outdoor space to plant it in. Cut the leaves back and you can make a "tea" by submerging them in water for 3 weeks. It smells like manure but it is amazing fertilizer - totally free. Also, start a compost pit or bin. Pouring expensive juices isn't cost-effective - you might as well buy some non-name brand fertilizer that will give your plants balanced nutrition. But, no, you definitely don't need the expensive stuff. Better to visit a garden center or meet organic gardeners in your community and learn about composting - you don't need a lot of space to do it.
