in general thats a very big question as austrailia has every kind of weather from equatorial to temperate.
but it appears that for most places the temprature doesnt go below 12c or above 24c so its the perfect climate to grow all year round and yes i would consider cfls to boost days of low sun. some sort of light intensity meter will do you proud in this case so you know when to flip them on =)
