Growin' Again

Main Tent: Day 93 / 43 of flowering.

All good. Fan leaves yellowing off and i'm plucking them from time to time. Have seeds developing and trichomes blobbing up. Reckon i'm 10 - 14 days away from harvesting.

Spacebox clones grow: Day 57 / 29 of flowering.

Well filled up the box. :) All looking good to me.

DWC Spacebox grow: Day 25.

pH 5.9, ppm 331. Added some seaweed concentrate to the tank yesterday and some trace element poweder to the tank to night. All not completely well, as have signs of some discoloration on the leaves. May have overfed to early. :( But, dont think its anything disastrous. Did see the first root poking out of the bottom of one of the pots so happy things progressing.

Will keep an eye on them as first hydro type attempt.

As an aside, did an ethanol tincture prep with 230g of the defoliated leaf i had collected and decarbed. Have 2 x 25 bottles of extract out of that. 4 drops in a large cup of tea and quite nicely buzzed. :) And still have about 130g of slow dried leaf from this grow in a jar in the cupboard. :)

Day 99 / 49 of Flowering.

Got some travel coming up, trichomes all cloudy but no amber, and over half the pistils gone brown. Seeds largely dark.
So......bit the bullet and harvested. :) Went through and trimmed then hung to slow dry.

Big bag of leaf. :) When i trim off the buds after drying will dice up the stems and use those and the leaf to do some tincture or butter.

Still running the Spacebox grow of the cuttings. Day 62 / 35 of flowering.

The Spacebox DWC grow is at Day 31. Topped all 4 plants yesterday as they are coming on as short and bushy i think.
 
Day 64 / 37 of Flowering:

The Spacebox Clones are close to harvest. Had a look under the microscope and am seeing amber trichomes which i didnt expect at this stage.

Topped these and the lower branches (pretty much the first nodes) are starting to sprout. :)
Think will be able to LST these nicely.

Reckon i'll crank up the main tent after current harvests are dry and put the DWC box in there. Will give more room for LST as well.

I'm finding the DWC a bit of a pain with pH maintenance. Seems to have gotten a bit easier though as the ppm has gone up with me tossing in various nutes. Solution will have more buffering capacity i guess. pH 5.8 last measured and ppm 461.

Am being a cheapskate and using Thrive, GoJuice (a seaweed prep), and a Trace Element powder as nutes. Not sure how well it will work but wanted to try out. Will gradually work it up a few pinches at a time to a ppm of around 700 i think.

The perlite is working well i think Each pot has about 3 cm actually in the solution and the perlite is dry on top, but damp just below the surface. So, its wicking up the solution but there will be plenty of air in there. :)

Will be interesting to see when done if these plants grow any better than the lower maintenance soil grows i have done.
 
So: Harvested. :)

Dried, culled out the seeds and weighed. Seeds in the dark to dry out more for a couple of months.

Harvest weighs in @ 144g dried buds from 20 small female plants.

100g m2 or 7.2g / plant or 1.45g/day

Leaf harvest 400g over the whole grow. :)

Still have to harvest the Spacebox grow in a week 10 days i think.

Will shift the DWC box from a Spacebox setup to the main tent this week and grow that experiment out.

On the main grow, not as good a yield as i'd hoped. But, know i made a couple of mistakes with this grow.

Soil mix was too heavy. Vermiculite is NOT a substitute for Perlite.

Too many plants. Next time strictly 1 plant / pot and more room for LST.

Multiple plants / pot are a pain for LST and I dont think will do it again. Next grow will be 4 plants ( i am confident in my female seeds now) each in its own 250mm pot, in a 50% soil / perlite mix. May rearrange the smartvalve watering though........just to have something to tinker with. :)

Still have the Spacebox / LED grow going. Day 73, Day 46 of flowering.

Been looking at trichomes under the microscope. Am going to harvest in the next week i reckon.

Ok...spacebox grow harvested @ day 75, day 48 of flower. Wont get a lot out of this as most of the plants were single stems.

so.....now letting the main tent with the DWC experiment run its course. :) Those plants doing well
 
Dried the Spacebox harvest and weighed up.

Harvest weighs in @ 23.10g dried from 16 female plants.
86.84g m2 1.44g / plant 0.308g/day

Got a few seeds but not many. Have this separate and in a jar for curing. Yield is low i think but this was all under cheapish LED in only a 0.266 m2 space.

Main tent DWC seems to be going well. Am going to sort some more tie downs a little further from the plants to LST more widely. The problem i have inflicted on myself is multiple plants / pot meaning not as much room to LST properly . And, from what i am seeing on 420 and from my own experience now, I think i may get better g/m2 going fewer, larger plants, than the lots of small ones i have been tending towards. Means longer veg time so be interesting to see how it affects g/day result.

Day 47 in the main tent.

pH 6.5 ppm 980 Plants all look happy to me. Am keeping an eye on the tie downs for LST and moving them out every couple of days as the branches grow.

Had some nute issues early on while establishing roots i think. Leaves going crispy when they got bigger and dark mottling. pH was a lot more unstable until the ppm got higher...more buffering now i think. Will see how things go and if the ppm creeps up much over 1000 will drain half the tank and refill with pH adjusted water. For nutes am keen to do the whole grow on Thive and Seaweed "GoJuice" as part of the experiment. :) Last thing i added wa actually a couple teaspoons of "flowering" Thrive as i thin k the dark mid leaf color was P deficiency.

Am going to focus on the plants rather than the meters though and keep an eye out for symptoms.

Pots in soil mix thats very standard, but 50% vermiculite.

Bottom up watering by an Autopot smartvalve.

I have used the smartvalve and trays before, but issue has always been too much water in the trayaround the pots. Takes a long time to get used and I have wanted the wet/dry cycle to happen more often. Tried a few ways of filling the space between pots, and went to saucers connected to the smartvalve last time.

Anyway, this time got some polystyrene thats thicker than the depth the smartvales cut off at.

Cut holes for the pots so that the the pots drain holes are on the tray floor
Then cut a hole for the smartvalve to sit on the tray floor.
Cut a connecting channel on the bottom of the polystyrene from that to each pot hole to distribute the water.
Sheet sits in the tray, held down by some dive weights and pots go in their holes.
Smartvalves and hoses carefully placed so the vales can operate freely.

They are pretty variable. :( But in a couple of weeks that will even out. Have some more seeds in germination and am hoping over the next few days to get two plants in each pot. Will see how that goes. Would prefer smaller, but more plants.

These are seeds from my last grow all the seeds were from self fertilised hermi plants. So, unless i have screwed up again i think they should all be female plants i have just put in. :)

If your dive weights are like mine then they are made of 100% lead. That metal is not something you want running loose is your grow.
