Grow room build round three: Full environment control and no compromises

Definatly my type of grow but probably not as hectic as mine haha. Oh man i hate those Halo feeders aye. I built my own in the end.
Im late to the journal but better late than never.
:goodluck::blunt:

Thanks!

Yea I don’t love them either. If you give them enough pressure to spread out the pattern they’re really kicking out some water. I was expecting to be determining my watering times in minutes instead it’s in seconds. Around two shots of ten seconds each is enough to do the job with my current setup.

How did you make yours? If it’s in your journal no worries repeating it I’ll give it a look through tonight.

Cheers! :passitleft:

Yeah man the wife is good and yep still growing....keep around 3 flowering all the time.....you know enough for personal use......I'll get some pics up sometime around here, man that new back yard is smoking ..... I remember your old one....LMAO nice upgrade.....

Yeah that auto irrigation is sweet, really the whole grow is so techy.....lol sounds just like you, tell Beth we said hello.....

All in my journal mate. Cause my rootball is very important, I up-pot to retain it, Due to this, i found the Halo's wouldn't give me an even spread onto my rootball but instead feed in a circle closer to the ring itself. Feed mostly once a day atm. Might go twice if they're thirsty but my feeders are very efficient at soaking substrate with 5 mini inlets from the main feed ring. I built a nifty little intake system with two connections to the feeder ring so i can rotate the plants without removing the feeders, steaks or taps. Its hard to explain but all the pics in my journal. The only thing is that I find it cheaper and easier to buy the feeders. Its takes me days, hell weeks even (especially if im stoned as ten chooks) to actually make the fucken things.:smokin2: So if time is an issue then the shop feeders are a much better option especially when you have to do things like
measure twice - cut once, Cut all the 4mm stuff first before starting the 13mm and then onto the 19mm poly, make a couple prototypes plus all sorts of other stuff like spending half my life at the hardware store and more time in my tent flaps than my wife's flaps:laugh:

I put in a ball valve and line back into the rez that i can crack open to relieve some of the pressure and do longer drip times. See my tutorial in my sig. Works good.

Nice, I have a valve on my main line that will lower the flow rate but the problem with the halo rings is if you lower the pressure under a certain amount the water doesn't spread out anymore it just dribbles around the ring. Its not bad now I can have it still spread out without totally flooding the plants.

Haha yes thats what I was trying to avoid. These kind of projects can start out seeming to be one price and after 5 more trips to the store it can turn into a couple x the original price. I have already had a few of those lately so i tried to keep trying keep it simple as possible  I found plans for a neat auto draining system for the saucers if overflow turns into a problem but I have been able to keep it under control so i'm not gonna muck with all that unless it turns into one.:meditate:

id be interested to see that since I'm switching from individual stands and buckets to a tray with just the single outlet
:thanks:

I don't think i ever got to save the link but I have the items saved in amazon. It was basically a five gal bucket with one of these Little Giant 550521 1-ABS Discharge Shallow Pan Condensate Removal Pump, 115 Volt 205 GPH In it.

He had two saucers per plant but I was going to change it to use only one. The saucers get 2x4 mounted to the bottom so you have room to run a 1/2 drain tube out of the bottom of the saucer that will feed to the bottom of the five gal bucket with the above pump in it. To keep the tubing from getting clogged with soil / whatever there are these that u can take apart and get a filter out of that makes it pretty easy to mount to the saucer. Taozun Faucet Aerators 6-Pac 15/16-Inch Male Threaded Brass Sink Aerators for Kitchen Bathroom, Polished Chrome.

So each saucer is sitting about 3 3/4" off the ground with a tube coming out the bottom running into a five gal bucket with that pump in it. The holes for the drain lines to enter the bucket go at the bottom of the side of the bucket, he had them about 1/4” from the bottom or so spread around the bucket but it will depend a bit on your layout exactly where you will want the holes but remember they need to be lower than the saucers or it won’t drain in right. That pump turns on and pumps the water out of the bucket as it comes in and drains it out into whatever you want to run its outlet tube to.

Let me know if you have any questions :passitleft:

plants look great cuz. Im going for a munch more rudimental, super basic setup. two 8 x 2 trays on bricks with 1 oultet each going straight into the backyard with only gravity. Same as my current except atm its the bucket method with each having its own outlet feeding into main line and then into the backyard using gravity again. but with super wide poly so no blockages, I just run vinegar and bi-carb soda between grows to clean it out. I'll post some pics pnce its all up. I'll document it in my journal.
Looking forward to seeing your buds cuz

Thanks!

The last batch got messed up while I was still getting the new gear setup so it’s nice to finally have some semi healthy looking plants.

That’s an awesome idea to run the drain to the outside and yet now that I think about it, it seems like it should of been my first thought too  I have bushes and roses on that side of the garage that would probably love some nute rich run off. Plus it eliminates the need for at least one bucket possibly two which was my big hold up. My room is just barely big enough to fit everything already. Not to mention no need for the expensive pump. :high-five:

Edit, I almost forgot I only had time to briefly look at you journals so far but you’re setup and level of detail and care is incredible. It’s obvious you really understand what’s going on with your plants and why the stuff your doing like the cloner setup actually works. Can’t wait to get caught up.

Nice healthy plants smoke.

Thanks bud it’s nice to finally have things clicking. The irrigation is already the single biggest improvement to the health of my plants. I always had days when the plants need watered but I’m in to much pain to deal with it so they would go without or get a half ass job at best. Now I can just hit a button. My controller lets you pull up history of the settings from a past grow and program it to follow the settings for a future grow. Assuming it works as advertised I should be able to manually turn it on and off for this first grow with it and then use that data as a base for the auto watering times and amounts for future grows :nomo:

Looking nice and healthy in there. What are all the strains again? Do you have a female cherry queen in flower?

Thanks bud :high-five:

In the flower tent there’s
Front right Malawi x pck
Front left Jack hereer
Back left A5 x panama

In the veg tent
Two big plants are cherry queens not sure of their sex yet

Fresh out of the cloner there’s an A5 x Panama a Malawi x pck and two of the JH.

I have some cuts from one of the cherry queens in the cloner now along with another A5 cut that should be good to pull out maybe tonight and plant.

I’ll get the cherry queens flipped in another week or so hopefully one of them is a female this time... :meditate:

Have a great day all :passitleft:

Sounds like a solid line up. I'm loving the A5 x Panama, did you get a look at the test result I posted for it? It's a terpene beast.
I'm looking forward to the cherry queens.

Can’t find it, ace isn’t listening that strain atm it seems. I was hoping I would get a nice fruity haze flavor out her, what’s yours taste like?

How does the buzz compare to the killer A5?

ACE won't be releasing anymore A5 crosses other than the Killer. Someone put some restrictions on them, I guess once they saw how big a hit it was they put some restrictions on it so keep a clone. It's different than the Killer, it's not as intense, it's a great anytime sativa and it tastes wonderful. Here's the link to the labs, click on the report tab in the upper left of the screen to see the full report.

Well that’s a bummer. At least they got to keep the best one.

The melt your face intensity of the killer is the best part for me I loved smoking that stuff :lot-o-toke::drool::drool::drool:
