Grow journal of my second grow

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

Yo, where did you get those clamps that are secured to the pots holding up the cfls????????? Are they made for that specifically? Or would you find em in some obscure place in a store? I want some of those.

Very nice man, Im praying for all females for you. Gonna love watching this grow...:headbanger:

This ones for you:bongrip:

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

What about the nutes and schedule??

My second grow is almost like yours. 400 HPS, small location, humidity hovering in the 50% range and fox farm organic soil. Oh, it's got some Jamaican bat guano sprinkled on since flowering.

Good luck gorwing, hope all comes out well. I look forward to the updates!

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

Hey, and thanks to all. Sorry i haven't updated in a while but i'm in the midst of a brutal three week stretch that includes two 15-page papers, proposal and meeting, two lecture presentations and seminar leads, and oh yeah, grading 46 rock exams. I'm just about fucked. At times like these I wonder why the fuck I am here. Sorry for the rant, back to business. I put my six plants into flowering and switched to foxfarm tiger bloom nutes last week, and ended up with two females and four males. The one girl is my beautiful Jack herrer, and the other is a super-strong growing plant, either a hindu kush or big bud. I got them mixed up earlier. Either way, my two best growing plants turned out fems. I am a little disappointed 'cause I was hoping for three or four, but what the hell, at least now I'll get to learn how to clone. I actually killed three of the males today and saved one for cloning practice so that I don't fuck up my girls unnecessarily. But if I can get the cloning down, i might consider taking two more plants on. We'll see. If any of you have any tips on cloning, i'll really appreciate it, since this is my first try. I am using clonex gel for cloning and rockwool cubes. Anyway, pics will be posted soon, maybe after my hellish month of torture ends next wednesday. Peace all.

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

I never used a heating pad and have a 100% survival rate on clones almost all the time.

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

^Thanks for the advice, both. I found some good info on this site, so I went ahead and took two clippings, just to experiment with. Meh, we'll see how it goes. As for the girls, here are a couple of pics. Enjoy.
This one's a kush, or big bud. I'll find out soon enough.

And this one's the Jack.

They were my two favorite plants, glad they were both girls. Now I just need names.

Your plants are gonna really take off in flowering stikee. Nice job

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

Hey, thanks skatter-
I already noticed a difference, have to buy a screen and keep 'em short. They're at about 2-2.5 feet tall with ~50 days left in flowering. Pics will be up sometime soon.
Peace

those lights are tight i need a cpl of them looks like there doing a pretty good job are they like 200 watt a piece ?

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

yeah, 200 watts each, except for the smaller one, that's only 65 watts. I have a 400 watt hps on them too.

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

Here are the latest pics everyone. I apologize for being a bad grow journalist, but this semester has been kicking my ass. Anyway, I'm close to the end of the semester and have about 6 weeks left in flowering, just as it gets exciting. So I will be posting more often in a couple of weeks.
The plant on the right is my jack herer, and the one on the left is either a big bud or hindu kush. Judging from the leaf structure and stretching during flowering, I would guess that it is the kush. Sativa all the way so far. As for nutes and watering schedule, I switched to foxfarm tigerbloom right after I went to 12/12, and last week started supplementing with high-P bat guano. I water about half a gallon every three to four days, depending on the soil conditions. As a word of caution to new growers, always water based on soil moisture and not on a strict schedule. I found that my jack needs much more water than the kush/BB due to the fact that it has way more foliage, therefore more water use and loss from transpiration.

You can't really see the separation between the two plants below, but notice the fat, wide indica fan leaves on the right, and the slimmer sativa leaves on the left.

This grow has also evolved into a modified SCROG grow. The plants are way too big for a proper SCROG, but there is a screen that separates the individual branches and spreads out the plants for better exposure to light. I also have tied down several of the biggest branches and main colas to keep them from reaching the HPS. The suspected KUSH is still stretching 3 1/2 weeks into flowering and is nearly 4 feet tall. As you can see from the pic below, I have tied it down and forcing it to grow sideways. Both plants are tied, but this one seems to have a mind of its own; it just keeps growing. Good thing about it is that it is still filling in and getting bushier as well. Bud production is NICE! I can't wait for the last month of this grow. The buds are starting to get frosty already. The difference from the HPS light is clearly visible-last grow I used CFL's and the main colas of those plants were smaller than the side branches of these plants. That, and the organic soil, nutes, ventilation, temp control, and the good seeds really made the difference.

Here's a pic of the sativa buds. Can't really get good pics with that damn yellow glow from the HPS.

High phosphorus Bat Guano and Tiger Bloom are a great combo, works well for me too. :Rasta:

Re: Grow journal of my second grow, with pics, setup, nutes, schedule, etc.

Hey, thanks to both^

Roor, I have a question for you-do you water a little more often with the guano and tiger bloom? I was thinking about this the other day, and it seems to me that if you water the same amount, the plants are getting the same amount of nutes, but half in guano-P, and half of tiger bloom. Should I mix the guano and the tiger bloom in the same gallon of water? It seems to me that might result in nute burn, or is that the point-to give plants extra kick of P during flowering? Thanks bro

Eyeless-thanks, that's what I'm hoping for too. The pics I uploaded were actually taken on the 17th, so it would have been about 40-45 more days of flowering left at the time. I'll post some pics after Monday. Peace
