Grow journal of my second grow

Hey fellow croppers, its about time i grew again, and this time I'll be posting all kinds of info. From germinating, to harvesting (I hope). So keep checking back for a whole poo-load of advice and DIY instructions.

Lighting- I just picked up a light fixture a few days ago. Its a 400-Watt HPS, self-ballast system, and puts out 55,000 lumens. Should be good for many plants, but I am only growing two or three, depending on my rate of females.

Thanks all. I just received my seeds today, 10 Hindu Kush and 10 Big Bud. Got pics, but image is awaiting approval. In the meantime, for the new growers, I have stuck seeds in moist soil about an inch deep, and covered loosely with half inch of soil. I find I have had much greater success germinating in soil than in wet paper towels, rockwool cubes, or those crappy jiffy peat discs. Image is also awaiting approval but will add soon. I am also growing baggie seeds again, and might keep 1 female possibly, just for comparison purposes. As of now those plants are three days old, and of course, the image is pending approval. In addition I also have a three day old jack herrer plant as well. Pics will be added as soon as they are approved. Peace.

All right, pics are approved. Here is the jack.

They are still in makeshift plastic milk containers, until I get my grow space squared away. Today I purchased 3 5-gal buckets and filled with foxfarm organic soil, to go along with my two other 6.5 gal pots. A double fan with a thermostat also will be hooked up to a duct pipe leading out of the grow space, with one fan blowing on the plants and the other on reverse sucking air out of the HPS fixture, and out of the room. Temp is holding steady at 80F and humidity is around 40%. Pics of the entire setup will be posted soon. Late all

Update. Here are the i week old baggie seed plants, and my one jack herrer. They were a bit stressed due to my constant tinkering with grow room space, ventilation, lighting, transplanting, etc. but their schedule remained consistent. Today I have transplanted all but two into bigger pots, with the two sickly lookin ones getting tossed. I just don't have the space to keep more than six plants, and I have 8 more germinating (4 BB, 4 HKush) I will most likely scrap a few of these baggie seed plants once I get the good ones growing good. 5 of the germinating ones actually sprouted and have been transplanted into their final pots.

I actually expanded the space today by about three more feet, maybe now I can accommodate a couple more plants.

2.5 X 6 X 7 ft. Smell will be an issue I have to address. I am in the market for a de-ionizer. Heard they work well. I am also rigging duct pipes to my AC/heater intake which goes out to the roof. If anyone has suggestions please do tell.

There is an ac/heat vent in the closet already which blows air in. So its almost like exchange system already.

I just moved to this place, and still working out the details. I'll have to just see how it goes, as it goes. I'll keep you posted.

I hooked up a duct from my AC vent blowing air above the light, and another vent sucking hot air from the HPS through a cut-out vent on the fixture, leading to the AC/heater vent. once i start flowering, i will put a carbon powder air scrubber in between vent and grow room. its a cool, crisp 75 F in the room at all times, 45% humidity.
About the plants-they just started to grow like crazy again, since the transplanting a week ago. I figured they would have been stressed with all the tearing and mashing of baby roots when i moved them into their big pots, so I checked out a root accelelator formula, but it cost about $70 for a 10 oz bottle. I told the dude I would be back for it in a week if the plants didn't respond, but thankfully, they seem to be picking up real quick in the past two days. I will post pics of the almost-final grow-room setup, and the plants when I get back from my trip this weekend.

Allright-back from my trip. I finally saw my rocks in my field area! They're beautiful.
Anyway, these are pics of 4 of my plants.
The rest would be too much to wait for the upload time, but I will also take pics of the rest soon. Pots are 18 inches in diameter.

This one above, is the jack herrer. When I left on Friday the stem was pretty thin, almost like 20 gauge wire. Came back last night, its almost as thick as a straw! Nice, dark green glossy leaves, can't really tell its true beauty in the glow of the HPS, but it is perhaps the best looking plant I have raised at this point in growth so far. I hope it is a female!

This one's the baggie seed plant, the only one I kept out of 6. Growin real nice too.

This is one of my kush plants. The stress from transplanting is evident in the leaves. New leaves are looking much healthier. Its also starting to grow nicely.

One of my big buds. Same symptoms as the kush. Likewise, new growth is much healtier.

For some reason (I suspect transplanting, or giving nutes too early in the growth cycle) the growth of the kush and big buds looks retarded. I doubt the seeds were bad, because I also got the herrer from nirvana, and doubt they sent me shitty seeds. That, and the fact that I have killed a total of 8 seeds already after germination, leads me to believe I am the culprit. You grow, you learn I guess. Anyway, I also have a pic of the grow room setup after the last configuration, but too lazy to upload it now. It looks good, though =0 I'll post in a week when I update the plant growth.

I hope about 18 inches tall, but some are growing faster than others, so I will have to wait and see. At this rate, I think I will go 12/12 in about three weeks. I plan on using scrog method to deal with space restrictions, too.
What kind of light you got? Last year I used 6 200-watt spiral fluoros, and got decent results, and i am also interested in seeing my yield with the new HPS.

yeah, im lettin mine get pretty big(i hope) Because i only have 1 now...

plannin on taking clones though, I'm runnin 2 sets of 4 foot floro's and 3 100w cfl's...

Alright, I couldn't wait anymore, I had to take pics. I can't stop looking at my plants. Its gonna be a looooong time until harvest. At least it will feel that way. Anyway, these are the latest pics of my six plants. The first four I posted pics of, above. The last two are the runts.

All of it looks good man, but that baggie seed is lookin' like it could be a sleeper if femme! Nice.

^Hey thanks all. Skatter-i really hope the baggie is a fem. It will be good comparison with the good strains, and yeah, it is lookin pretty swanky.

Blue- it will be my first time with the scrog, so i'll have to learn on the fly. It shouldn't be that hard, its basically spreading out the stems and directing them sideways instead of upward. Gets more light to lower stems, saves space, and a uniform grow. Hard part will be to train stems without breaking them.

Tomorrow I am switching light schedule from 24/0 to 18/6. Last time I switched directly from 24 to 12/12, so this time I'm trying something different. Anyway, here are the pics. Tell me what you think.

This one's the retard-DEE DEE DEE. Its recovered well.

The top two emerging fan leaves on this plant have 11 leaves on them. That's a first, never saw that happen before.
