Hello all!
This is my first grow and journal EVER, to create a mother plant. The growth will be in a dedicated shower stall and the clones from it will be placed in a homemade rotating garden, both are built by me, links about both you will find in my signature.
Strain info:
Grow medium
- 6 parts calcium nitrate (15.5-0-0)
- 2 parts magnesium sulfate (0-0-0) also known as Epsom salt.
Strenght: variable but will start with 700 ppm (700 scale) PH 5.5
Why Masterblend?
Last but not least…..I am very impressed with the knowledge on this forum and the advice that is given me until now. I hope to return the favor by sharing the results of my “DIY rotating garden on the cheap”
Wish me luck!

Strain info:
- Harlequin 1:18 FEM
- Harlequin is a 75/25 sativa-dominant strain renowned for its reliable expression of CBD. A descendant of Colombian Gold, a Nepali indica, and Thai and Swiss landrace strains, you can depend on Harlequin to provide clear-headed, alert sativa effects. Harlequin's high levels of CBD make this strain one of the most effective out there for treatment of pain and anxiety, as CBD can counteract THC’s paranoia while amplifying its painkilling properties. Flavors can range from earthy musk to sweet mango, but without a doubt, what draws crowds to Harlequin is its ability to relax without sedation and to relieve without intoxication.
- Dedicated shower stall 90 x 90 x 200 cm.
- Light 300 led 5000K, wrapped around a 100 mm duct with a reflective dome above it, no heat so no cooling. Height will be variable and light will stay on as this will be a mother plant.
- Shower stall is in the basement, average temperature inside 22C
- Small dehumidifier installed that can keep RH between 40 & 60
- Deep water culture, 5 gallon bucket with air stones
Grow medium
- Modified Masterblend 4–18-38 solution, modified as follows:
- 6 parts calcium nitrate (15.5-0-0)
- 2 parts magnesium sulfate (0-0-0) also known as Epsom salt.
Strenght: variable but will start with 700 ppm (700 scale) PH 5.5
Why Masterblend?
- First of all, I have TON’S of it, left over from my greenhouse that I have rebuilt into a spa room.
- Second, Masterblend did very well on all my veggies despite that fact that, at that time I did not have reliable meters for PH and PPM (I do have now)
- Third, I have spoken to Masterblend in the past and mentioned all those different liquid nute’s in the market. They laughed about that and said that 80% of those were based on Masterblend, with some different additives and sold as a liquid concentrated fertilizer with a margin of 800%++
- I have read posts on several cannabis forums about using Masterblend with good results.
- The test I did a few days ago (see picture) gives me enough confidence to start with above mentioned conditions.
