GreenThunder Grow Journal #1 - Four Strains In Coco - 1000W - Sprouted 8/15/17

I wouldn't harvest until almost all of the clear trichs went cloudy. That said, if you see the amber ratio start to bump up quickly then take it down regardless of the clear trichomes. And at this stage you really need to be checking trichomes almost daily!

We have AMBER!!! The moment I have been waiting for . Only on one of the three and cannot get a pic but I did see one . So I clipped a frosty leaf from the center for a more steady view and sure enough... I see bits of amber!! So I'm going to switch to water only and see what happens in the next few days. I want to try stem splitting but her stem is too thick for me to feel comfortable trying my first attempt.

Dianna, sour diesel bag seed (and the super hero of the group)

Congratulations! For what it's worth, there was a guy in my first grow thread who had two identical plants and split one about a week before harvest. He saw no difference in the number of trichomes or the size of the buds between the two plants. Your mileage may vary :).

I wondered if it really makes much difference... I sometimes wonder if the little 'extras' we do for them are really just for us
I get torn between wanting to try everything I read and trying to keep it simple

Cannabis is a weed. It will grow even if you toss the seeds in a roadside ditch, if the temps are within its tolerance level. Experimentation depends on your budget, and how OCD you are. :laughtwo:

A few years ago I grew a bag seed in the closet with a cheap florescent and nothing more than rain water.... got maybe 10g
Next plant had T5 florescents and some nutes, moved into a tent with 1000w HPS aboutjust before flowering and got 83g. Didn't know about pH with her.

Current grow:
A couple weeks ago we clipped a couple branches and weighed around 64g wet and 9g going into the jar. An early sample to compare
A couple days ago we clipped another branch because I thought I found bananas... 35g still drying.
So I've already surpassed both my previous plants with just 'little samples' I'm still learning and will play with a scrog on 2 clones for my next grow.

Back to the possible bananas...

Yes! Very informative ✌
The gal definitely has bananas... several. I gently pulled off twins and gave a little rub.... sure enough, pollen So she's been banned from the tent and will be chopped later today.

I am going to go pick up some mesh to make a drying rack. The idea just came together last night... I gutted an old dresser that's sturdy but drawers were difficult to open. It's got sentimental value so I was hoping to find another use for it... a drying rack is going to be perfect, I hope!!

The dresser is 40" tall, 31" wide and 17" deep. I plan to add 'shelves' of mesh and cut some venting holes. I also have a small fan to circulate air (not directed at the buds but into a corner)

Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm not sure how big to make vent holes and whether I should add some kind of exhaust. What else might I be missing? Is this dresser-dryrack a viable idea?

I'm soooooooo excited to be chopping one down ✌

Seems like a good call to me! Great diy solution

Sorry about the nanners chopping is a smart move

You should save the pollen in a zip lock bag in case you want to cross breed something some day! Who knows!

Pretty elaborate drying rack. I would have soaped the rails on the dresser personally. But I dry in a cardboard box :).
Elaborate indeed but the ladies are worth it
I did bring home a cardboard box but I don't think it will be big enough when we cut the biggest girl. Also, it's important to hubby to incorporate the dresser in our process because it came from a dear friend when he left the state and he's since passed. If we needed a dresser I'd put effort into restoring it but it's not a valuable piece and the buddy would have gotten a kick outta it becoming a drying rack

Last week I clipped a branch from the one with bananas and put the buds in a paper bag. The humidity in the bag has dropped to 54% but when I put them in a jar it jumps up to 67% even with a bovida pack How long is it ok to be at 54 or less? I think over 65 is too high to be in the jar, right?
I'm using a pint size jar.... maybe a bigger one would be better?

54% represents a mix of the ambient RH and the bud RH. The jar is the RH of just the bud. 67% isn't too high if you're burping every few hours. If your ambient RH is lower than 62% (which it sounds like it is) then let the jar air for 30 mins at a time and lower it over a day or two to 62%. If ambient is higher than 62% then you should probably go with rice balls to get it lower until you hit 62% in the jar and then seal it with the Boveda 62. Even after you seal it up, air it out a few minutes a day for a week.

Perfect!! Thanks so much ✌

Well the dresser-dryrack didn't come together as easily as I hoped and I ran out of staples for the mesh. But JJ had to be taken down because of the nanas.... sooooo we harvested this morning and 1168.2 grams are drying in 2 cardboard boxes!!!

The 9 biggest buds, what I would consider colas, totaled 229g with the largest weighing in at 49g. I'm very surprised by the yeild especially because she was the runt and we were a day away from giving up on her.

We clipped a couple branches last week when the nanas first showed up and those buds are dry enough today so we topped it with finger hash and had a post harvest treat. Still don't know the strain but it's tasty and fairly smooth despite no curing yet.

AWESOME! I didn't think you could grow anything that big in Alaska, unless you're growing in a warehouse somewhere! ;-)
Thank you AKgramma! I'm quite proud

Not a warehouse but a tent in the bedroom vacated by my one and only son (he's off driving a big rig and exploring the country, having the time of his life)
There are 2 others still growing in the tent and the sour diesel is bigger than this one. The Bubba Kush auto fem is lagging because I didn't know she shouldn't have the 12x12 schedule, but her tricomes are insane!!
