Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

Can someone here watching this thread point me towards some good parchment and filter bag folding techniques? I just stuck my pre-pressed puck into the bag and then cut off the excess and pointed the opening of the bag towards the fold of the parchment.

Just wondering if there are some specific ways to fold either to maximize the squish and minimize blowouts!

Do you use two sheets and sandwich the puck? Or use one sheet and fold it somehow?

Just one sheet and fold , you can trim to fit but I just fold the ends up to fit . I tried using my wife’s parchment paper (Wilton) couldn’t get it all off .
 
So when you pre press, do you pre press in the bag? Or do you pre press the nugs naked then place in the bag?

I pre press flower then put it in bag to final press. Lots of video on the tube. Here's similar pre press i have
 
@Dankman_420 yeah there sure are tons of videos, but who knows which of them really know their stuff, trying to get some info from the cats mouth.

Btw just did my second nug squishin' today after work. Squished 3gs of cement shoes flower again, same as my first go, but I changed my technique, for pre pressing, and total time on the press. Went for as close to "bottle tech" as I could with my square 1.5x1.5 pre-press. And I prepressed IN the bag.

Plates were at 200f. dunno if I should bump that up or down...

ended up with .55 grams of rosin off the single press of 3gs.

Not super stellar returns at 18.x% . But still a big improvement over the first go of less than .5gs and just under 15%. So almost a full 4% increase in return, and I didn't press the puck a second time.

The color of the rosin is much nicer too. First press almost came out a muddy color, this one is a reddish amber color, hard to tell in the pics I got, sorry about that btw, was in a little bit of a hurry today and forgot to get pics during the process...

I also am curious about squishing some nugs naked, without the bag. Just simply because I know there is a ton still in both bags from both runs. Looks like I get to learn how to do alcohol extractions!

I didn’t have any bags when I started and did bare press . At that time we were just smoking the rosin ! Sorry for the late reply had to go back to work today , sucks .
 
I am going out of town with the daughter and wife, Monday is her 10th birthday! We're taking a short little weekend trip to celebrate. When I get back i will be trying a naked press, just to see, for science. Lol @West Hippie gotta love the work grind, I spent the day on top of the roof of a walk in freezer patching and resealing the spots where the evaporator is hung by threaded rods. Was an interesting day.

Anyone here got any words to the wise for squishin' something like this 3g dry sift hash/kief/ whatever you call the kief from dry trimming!! Lol. Its just squished hand tight, not actually pressed into a true puck yet.

Temps? What micron bag? What kind of techniques? Any difference in procedure when actually pressing?

What size bags do you use for keif
S’up Dank! I’ve used 25 micron. I’ve even doubled with 25 and 160. Depends on the kief and amount.

and this convo:
When u press keif
Temp,?
Time?
Still same process as normal bud pucks
Also just jamb it in the bag,? Or do u puck it somehow
Low temp 130/140deg. For kief maybe lower
I press with 25u bag.
1. Put kief in bag.
2. Pre-press to compact. Flat is good. I don’t put extreme pressure.
3. Press at low temps to start. Around 140-160F. Low pressure but steadily increasing slowly until you start to see a flow. (Or bubbles)
4. Second press at higher temps.
5. Dab it.
