Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

Yeah so this is what happens when you try and smash before it’s time . Your looking at 2 smashes , one at 190 degrees and pressure I’m clueless. The other smash was at 209 degrees. My plates locked up and handle brought 3/4 down as per every video I can find . Most of the resin is still in the bags. Plates left locked for 3 minutes.. it’s a sappy mess I can’t get off the parchment. I left it overnight open with a fan blowing over it in a room with RH 55%. It still will not come up.
The weed was 7 days from chop when attempted to do this . I Hung to dry as individual branches , after 4 days cut from branches , left in open paper sacks inside the tent with ex’s tractor fan and two small fans with a temperature of 70 degrees and RH 50% for 14 hours not thinking they would dry to 55% in that time frame . They did . Crispy so I put into a larger ball container with a Boveda pack and it brought it up to 62%. It stayed like that for 24 hours or more so I felt it was safe to Smash
Anyone else with similar experience? I feel like it will be another two weeks or more before I get anything I can dab

dont know what pressure you are at when u say handle down 3/4 of way .. wtf..

get a real press with a gauge .. like mine :)

try putting the paper on a cold plate then scape off easy ..

right after the press..

im using RAW paper..

Good for you , you have a pressure gauge . I don’t and I don’t need one . Lock the plates up and bring down lever 3/4 way on full lock . It’s terminology with the press I have . I know what my problem is as stated already . My buds were 7 days from chop . I’ve pressed 27% from the same strain just a little bit further into the cure . I know how to press rosin and I have a real press just not one with pressure gauge

And I did aol that , put my cold plate in freezer , put the rosin in freezer etc, it’s finally drying out in a room with a fan blowing . My material was simply not ready , that simple and I realize this now

yes you know how to press rosin put the handle 3/4 way down eh!! comical

Awesome tutorial and thank you very much.
Does the 230f and 225f heat decarb the cannabis? Or do you decarb before the press. I guess you don’t need to decarb for dabs, but I would use the extract for edibles.
It is a nice process and I love it.
teh temperatures and times required for decarbing weed are ridiculously short if you heat it. like taking adab is enough time to decarb it. it only takes a few seconds at 200C you also decarb your weed simply by baking it in the oven.

I was decarbing trim and buds last night in my oven its a heavy smell but enjoy it .. 250 f for 30 mins depending on volume stir a little.. dry it out.. i did 70 gram s into a lbs of butter.. before decar.. didnt way after forgot lol..

im baked on betty crocker cookies chocolate chip mmmm tasty ..

It takes 116 degrees Celsius -240 degrees Fahrenheit for thirty minutes or till the bubbling stops for the decarb . The longest was 35 minutes. This is what I’ve learned in this thread and GT’s oil thread !

What about pressing rosin makes you think you absolutely need a pressure guage? I have two presses... ones a 10 ton drip tech with psi guage, and the other is a Nugsmasher OG and I can tell you without a doubt the nugsmasher is hands down the all around better product... in my opinion the psi guage is not needed at all. I just pulled a 28.5% return off a 7 gram squish from the nugsmasher @ 205F... it continuously outperforms my other press and it has a LIFE TIME warranty with amazing customer service. Just wanted jump in and ask why you care about the guage so much?
I thought I needed one too when I first started but quickly realized I made a mistake in purchasing that. Oh well live and learn.

I like my sponsor press, want larger plates for as much as we’ve squished . The gauge helps because I start at 1k and work my way to 5k for the finish .

I'm a cheap MF :D been over a year ago since I got my dabpress plate kit and a 6 ton harbor freight 75$ press.
Only 275$ invested.
At some point I'll end up with a dabpress 10 ton press that's ready to go.
But it's my frugal press till then :lot-o-toke:
Wished I’d waited and built one like Grandpa Tokin I have $700 invested but with the neighbor using it , it has payed for itself.

Here’s GT’s setup

I just pulled a 28.5% return off a 7 gram squish
:adore::bravo:
That’s insane! :high-five:
How consistent is that for you? Is that down to the variety do you think or your rig? Or technique perhaps?

I run a dabpress (weren’t they a sponsor?!) ten ton driptech without a gauge. One of the best investments I ever made.

Some cannabis varieties give up more of the sticky stuff than others. I’d be interested what it was you were pressing?

20% for me is amazing. I normally push between 15 and 20.

Cheers
