ok few more questions.
do you squish dried and cured bud only? or do you squish fresh cut bud at harvest aswell?
how long does the rosin last after pressed out, and how can it be stored? for instance can i press a load and store most or squish as and when you need some so its always fresh?
what are the differences, and purposes of the different micron levels? and how does it affect end product?
this is the one i got, best start eating my spinach and getting my strong arm ready lol
i guess i need some parchment paper too then, is greaseproof baking paper similar and ok?
hmm what else i need to know.. lol
duno for now
Love the videos!
wicked thanks gramps!!do you squish dried and cured bud only? or do you squish fresh cut bud at harvest aswell? I squeeze dried bud. Not necessarily cured completely, but dried for sure. I have found that fresh has a little too much moisture and chlorophyll taste for me.
how long does the rosin last after pressed out, and how can it be stored? for instance can i press a load and store most or squish as and when you need some so its always fresh? I have stored rosin in the freezer for several months in silicone containers. Had no issues. Me personally, now I mainly just squeeze a few days or a weeks worth and let it sit on my smoking table until it's gone. It waxes up nicely for me and is normally stable to the touch after a few days.
what are the differences, and purposes of the different micron levels? and how does it affect end product? The holes in the screen material get smaller as the micron number goes down. I use 160 micron for flower mainly, but I have used 120 micron and had no issues. I used 25 micron (very tiny holes) to squeeze THCa. You can see that here:
Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!
I have a little more in the freezer, I pressed two one gram buds. What would be the best way to collect it to put in a bowl. I need to get the tools to collect the rosin.✌️www.420magazine.com

Grandpa, your a sick, sick Rosin pressing demon.... Hehe.... Casper hash....lol I still got those waiting for the Rosin press blues..... Bollocks.www.420magazine.com
Basically, the bags work to hold the product and to filter some contaminants. Easy Peasy!
Yeah, maybe find some bag folding techniques. I see you got a bunch hung up in that bag. I’ll actually remove 1/4 - 1/2 of the bags excess sleeve with scissors.Update Pressing Matters
I got it and Dab Press included the mould not the same as the one in the promo but im happy to get something extra!! It was up to temp in the time it took to screw the feet on.
They included tools and extra screws and feet 2 spare fuses and 3 little magnets.
I hand pressed the mould but the 1/4 oz wasn’t small enough to fit between the plates.
So i put it in my shop vise now its tight.
Squished the bejeepers out of it ive got some learning to do.
Yield was low but for a 1/4 oz of larfy shit and a bunch lost stuck in the bag where i folded it wrong. I would not have smoked this stuff so i feel anything i get is worth the effort.
Ill be working on this and hopefully my next episode is a lil prettier like the videos you guys post. Im gonna try it with good buds too and see the diff.
Cut it off and fold it that’s exactly what I was thinking and I’m searching for techniques as we speak I can see this getting better and better...Yeah, maybe find some bag folding techniques. I see you got a bunch hung up in that bag. I’ll actually remove 1/4 - 1/2 of the bags excess sleeve with scissors.
I’ll also use a big C clamp when making bud pucks.
I see you got the good 30mm three piece pre-press mold. Excellent! I wish I did.
This post tells you how I fold the sleeves. A few posts later there is an image showing the process.
Yes. I put the whole thing, just like it is, in the alcohol. Usually, I save up about 15 or so and then run the alcohol.
How about weighing the spent material before you process with alcohol? Then weigh the yield. Would be nice to know what % is left behind from the press. And a big stack of them would give a reliable average.
I wouldn't be surprised if the yield has improved since those studies. Thanks, that's good information. I pulled the 70% out of my you know what, as a guess. It seems this was a little on the low side as the capsules hit as hard as the strongest filled with flower.
I wouldn't be surprised if the yield has improved since those studies.
Yield or potency? I may be wrong, but I consider yield to be the ratio of the weight of rosin collected, to the original weight of the material being pressed.
Potency will be dependent on the starting material. Starting with flower that has 15% THC will not produce as potent a result as flower with 25% THC.
The yield for the two may be the same, but this is not always the case.
LMAO!@!Forget which journal I’m in...

Okay... I’m officially sick of people again. Too many “Guests” (even close relatives) makes me want to choke the living shit out of half of them (fuckingbrats) and slap the other half...hard!

The pen actually saved one of those kids from getting killed. Nuff said. Today everyone leaves. It’s a good day in the neighborhood.
