Grand Daddy Black Grows A Stack

Hello grow gang.

My Forbidden Fruit monster-cropped clones have been in soil for 29 days. They now look like "normal" plants so I guess the re-veg process is complete.

I finished the up-pot today. Now both are in 5 gallon pots and resting comfortably in the 4x4 tent.

They'll be under the bright lights of the @ViparSpectra XS3000 Pros! The lights are 14 inches above the plants and running at 50%. I could probably get away with running just one of them now but that wouldn't last long, so I went ahead and turned them both on.

The one on the left will be called "Copy" and the other will be named "Paste." I have a reason for distinguishing between the two but I'll talk more about that later. Right now, Copy is 12 inches from soil to tip and Paste is at 10 inches.

This morning, after completing the 2nd up-pot, they both got EWC scratched into the soil surface and were watered to run-off. I watered around the perimeter of an imaginary 1 gallon pot, but not directly on the surface of that imagined pot.

I don't want to let these veg for very long because they'll likely stretch as prolifically as their mom after they're flipped. I'm going to try my best to keep them down. (But I did that with their mom, only to be dissed, big-time! :) )

Training will start as soon as I believe they're settled in.

Thanks for your visit.

Dollar Store Crawling!

I went Dollar Store crawling today. Not the worst way to spend an hour or two. I'm lucky to live where there are about 5 Dollar Stores within a few miles of me (that I know of -- there are probably more).

Anyhow, I was looking for something new to put in the big saucers I use with the 5 gallon pots. I like to keep my pots slightly elevated to promote drying out the bottoms a little quicker. Those little net baskets I use are okay, but I need to use 2 of them (of different sizes) in each saucer and it bothers me to look at them because of that.

Current baskets.jpg

I went looking for a circular baking tray or some sort of cake stand that would fit it my saucers and suit the purpose.

No luck at any of the first 3 stores I visited. Then at the last store I went to, again no such items in the kitchen department. But the last store I went to has a book section. So I went back there and picked up 4 hardback novels. I love reading, so if the liner notes in a book sound even remotely interesting, I pluck down a dollar store price for it!

On the way to the register I walked through the Christmas decorations section and saw these things:

Wreath Support.jpg

They're described as Christmas Wreath supports.

Okay, I've got some wreaths they can support! :Rasta:

They just happen to perfectly fit my saucers! I got 4 of them.

Oh the joy of Dollar Store crawling! :)

And for anyone who may be interested, here are the books:

Dollar store books.jpg
Savage News: "A smart and timely novel about "Reporting While Female" and the dance between media and the White House" (written by former CNN White House correspondent Jessica Yellin).

The Liar: "A psychological page turner" about a young woman who told a lie that changed her life.

The Way of the Reaper: "A gripping account from a man whose lethal aim took out thirty-three Taliban fighters on one deployment, a record."

Interference: Science Fiction. "An unknown alien sentience has landed on Pax. It has only one directive -- annihilation."

And last, a container of the "Limited Edition" Sprite-flavored tic-tac mints. They are pretty damn awful! 😖

All of these items were $1.25. (One dollar items are rare at the Dollar stores around here.)

Total bill with tax, $11.90.

If I ever go broke it won't be due to lavish spending! 😁

Those look perfect for pot elevators! It's fun repurposing things from the dollar store...
and hey, if it doesn't work, you're only out a buck or 2..💸

Hello all.

I'm just posting a pic of the clones on the day after their uppot. The reaction to an uppot is something I always try to document.

Copy on the left seems unfazed. In fact she looks happy. Paste on the right looks fazed, but not too much! It's their day 30 in the soil.

(BTW, check out the perfect fit of my Wreath Supports in my saucers!)

Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Stone.

I plan on making a wreath for the holidays too! :)

Love the dollar store near me. I now live now in a gated community that has lots of rentals all year round so people shop there to both stock the rentals for customers as well as have everything a renter would need for a weekend.

BTW, check out the perfect fit of my Wreath Supports in my saucers!
It's like they were made for it- nice find, GDB!

I think I'll pick up a couple of them to have in case I start growing in regular pots again.. 🤔

Wait, what?
Ha! That won't happen till next season, and only for the 1 outdoor plant...makes for easier schlepping...although, that's more of a thought than a plan right now...:hmmmm:

Those wreath supports look pretty handy- I'll find something to use them for if I end up not needing pot elevators.👍

"Ha!" is right! You caved to the SIP lobby in record time with that post! Shameless, IMO.😁

I ain't buying it. You're doing too well in the SIPs to do a u-turn.

If I see you grow in a fabric pot again, I'll grow in a SIP! I promise. (Just don't tell Azimuth I said that.🙄)

Growing weed in a "gated community." These are the days! :Rasta:

Ha, is right. Like he's never heard of a hand truck to schlep the fully loaded SIP around.

But now I might just encourage him to do a fabric grow ONE TIME for nostalgia. Ok not really nostalgia, more to see you try your hand at one. :thumb:

Hello growers.

The Forbidden Fruit clones have been in soil for 31 days. While Paste (right) continues to pout about her recent uppot, Copy looks ready, willing and able.

So as you can see, as a reward for her cooperation, Copy got beat up this morning!

Let's talk more about your upcoming SIP...d.i.y., or store-bought? 😄
Don't do it to me Carcass! Please. 😁

I'm a big fan of what the SIPs can do but, honestly, pouring water down a tube has zero appeal for me.

Fixed it for ya!
Thanks for the fix. I'd say your version is a little more accurate! :Rasta:
