Gov's Pineapple Chunk Mars II Excursion

Happy Friday night! :slide:

I got home early and finished the other junk I had to do and decided I would grab some pics and post a photo update since it's been a week again. I gave them a quart of water today with some part B and LK and pH adjusted to 5.9 (ppm was very low at 122), but I'm feeding again tomorrow morning and want to give them all they may need as they finish, so a cool drink today (typically an off day for watering).

So Paka's knuckes are starting to shoot out more and she would probably have buds shaped like starfish if she could flower another month. They're really odd.

Here are a couple a few nodes down. Not huge buds, but they are REALLY hard.

I got a peek under her skirt too showing some of the popcorn that decorates her ankles. I would normally pull these off, but again they are so hard, I figured I'd wait and see how much resin they can produce with a blanket over them. Not too bad.

...and some Paka-porn. She's more classic in bud formation, and more aromatic too, though they both have a distinct citrus-y smell.

Just curious, backbuilding is just a new millennium way of saying, tipping, right? :peace:

Have you seen the backbuilding technique for your colas? Light Addict has shared his wisdom & I stumbled across it earlier so thought I'd share :thumb:

I'm not sure it'd work on Paka with all those foxtails

LA's Quick Guide To Simple Backbuilding Technique For Buds!

Thanks Skunny. We discussed that a few pages back, and I came to the same conclusion (re:Paka and her ugly knuckles), but I nipped a few on Lolo last week and using those as my own little "control" test.

Yup. Often the bud tips will continue to grow and throw new pistils even in the last days. That takes energy that we would rather have the plant using to produce resin and swell the calyx's too. Backbuilding/tipping helps the plant do what we want.

Nice pics Gov! Such great clarity it's like I'm there. :thumb:

Thanks man.

Yeah, thanks stealth. I could really care less about the uglybumps as long as they're making good resin, and right now it looks like they are. Still 2 weeks to go so still hoping they fire up a bit. Don't get me wrong, they look and smell tasty, but this strain is a cup winner and known for its wicked potency so I DO have some expectations. I try to be realistic though and I have a strong grasp on the "open marketing" that this industry is going through. Ultimately, we'll see in the next week.

One of your plants has many downward curled leaves, downward curled leaves are a sign of too high of nitrogen in flowering.

Yes, they've been doing that since very early in this grow, but only on the one plant and only on the upper leaves. The growth a little farther away is still flat and healthy. It's been a challenge because these are supposed to be the same strain, yet if they are, they are different phenotypes that have different nute requirements. On one plant I've had slight phosphorous issues and the other has these curling leaves and foxtails on the buds. They've had minimal stress throughout, yet still been a bit finicky. Flower production still looks good and they both have nicely resinous buds. I'm supplementing this week with about 20-30 mins/day of UVB, but they are starting to ripen nicely.

Day 46/55, D-10

Well, Tomorrow may be the last full feeding I give them. They are looking like they know they are approaching the end of their life. Some leaves are turning and the flowers are nicely swollen and resin-covered with woody stalks. So, the plan is a full feeding tomorrow, then start the flush on Saturday. I'll continue to flush Sunday and again Monday. Then, 2 days to dry out and chop on Wednesday or Thursday.

I'll have a picture update Friday or Saturday as the last before the arrival of the executioner.

peace
