Hey man looking great!
I'm looking at a late October harvest for my outdoors also. Its already getting chilly at night here I hope it will stay fairly dry.
I'm interested in the auto breeding you do.
Do you start mom and dad at the same time, or do you spray one then harvest and save the pollen for use later?
I have an off site location that I can keep dad at.
Also when I make photoperiod fem seeds I like to give them 5-6 weeks to ripen. Does this hold true for autos or is this process sped up?
Grim, I don't do dads. I use feminized autos. I force her to make pollen, which is feminized pollen.
I plant one, then about 3 weeks later, I plant another. I use the pollen from the first, to pollinate the second. This way the seeds have enough time to finish.
However, I have also had a feminized auto pollinate herself by forcing one branch to produce pollen. I just let it flower for 3 weeks longer than usual, until seeds were finished.
Both ways produced good seeds with good end results.
Already nice and frosty. I am please so far with Kosher Kush. I wish I hadn't added the acidic mushroom compost to some of the outdoor plants. Bad idea.
I am also pleased with God Bud thus far. It looks like she might produce nerf football like buds.
So, I topped the tall wwxbb to let the other regulars catch up in height. I decided to do a test with it to see if it roots. It is in RO water with one drop of full nutrient and dipped in liquid clonex. Inside the glass is a air stone.
This auto is going to produce nicely at 5.5 feet tall.
I HAD my last batch of auto Critical 47 tested. Results are 19% thc and 3% cbd. The cbd amazed me.
love the outdoor night time pics, makes the plant look OG haha. how do u force the fem to pollinate? iv some bubba kush auto and northeren autro whitch i would mind afew seeds off and nice going on the 3% CBD how did u get the weed tested? Indo
Indo, I used a product called Tiresias Mist. I spray it on one branch, from right when hairs poke out to show sex, every day for about 3 weeks or until balls start to show, which you can see with a loop.
It works great. However, you cannot smoke the plant you sprayed, even if you only sprayed one branch, so you might as well let it seed itself.
The autos are already larger than in this photo. The 5 gallon one is 32 inches, and the solo cup is 26 inches. I did not expect a solo cup auto to get so tall. Now let's see how thick her buds get.
Think Different needs lots of nutes, even when you feed nutes daily like I am. I am using the 6-9 ratio of micro and bloom by GH. I add a little over 4.5 gallons of water to my five gallon bucket, then I add 6-9 ratio multiplied by 5. Before this, though, I add 5mL of botanicare's calmag plus because I am growing in pure coco and R/O water.
I tried without calmag plus at first, and they started to purple in the leaf stems, so I added calmag plus to keep them green.
Anyway, that ratio times 5, so 30mL mirco and 45mL bloom to 4.5 gallons of water plus the 5mL of calmag plus in r/o water gives about 800ppm. Some of the regulars started to get lighter green, and some of the autos did once they started to flower, so I am now multiplying by 6, so 36mL and 54mL.
They got much greener. This is about 950 980ppm. I think they might need more, if so, I will multiply by 7.
Here is a friend that has been going from plant to plant.
Now for outdoor.
The regular ak47 is so dense already. Denser than many strains finish. Sad news, though. Harsh winds came while I was at the casino. Most of her branches broke off, but at least it will make some good hash or wax.
I spent a few hours staking the rest of the branches for all the plants just in case.
Out door update. I need to get some more pics of indoor because the autos blew up like crazy. All of them are so much larger.
What is crazy about the outdoor ak47, which is not an auto. Most all the plants outdoors are regulars unless stated on the Photo that it is an auto. Anyway, the AK47 feels ready, which is nuts. It is super dense. Unfortunately, hard winds and rain broke off most of her branches earlier. I checked her trichomes and they are mostly cloudy with a good amount of amber. I'm not going to cut her down yet, because there is no way she should be finished. She has only been in flower maybe 40 days.
Kosher Kush is the next fastest developing strain. Both of these would be great for indoor quick flower times and good weight.
Headband is a slow strain as is Godbud so far.
There is some yellowing, but this is mostly do to cold nights, which make it hard for the plants to uptake phosphorus. Also, This is my first time feeding with mostly powder Organic nutes. These plants go through way more than what is said on the box. I fed them really good the last few days, so they should green up. I fed them with 980ppm of Dr Earth 4-4-4, which has probiotics, yucca extract, bacterias, blackstrap molases, etc, all organic juice. Great stuff, but a little pricey.
<< this cola is super fat.
<< this strain produces some great purple leaves, but it doesn't really make it's way to the buds. It does a little as you can see from my previous grow. However, it taste good but is harsh. Also, I don't like the bud formations and density, so this strain is not one I will grow anymore. Kinda sucks because I still have like 800 seeds.
<< Although Headband is developing slower than I want, it is producing fat buds so far.
<< Super pretty hairs.
<< I love this strain. Fast, huge producer for an auto, super frosty. Flavor is very good, sweet. Very stoney. Last crop tested at 19% THC and 3% CBD.
I set the room to 12/12. I couldn't let the regulars get any larger.
I now have only the 1000w Gavita DE, which is on a 6' light mover. It is working great so far. Leaf temps at the top are only going up to 78 degrees before the light mover moves, allowing those plants on that side to cool off. Before the light makes it back, the leaf temps drop to 74 degrees. I check this with an IR laser thermometer.
The autos stopped growing and have nice little ball nugs on them, so I doubt 12/12 will decrease yeilds.
I miss labeled this photo. In the solo cup is actually Critical Blue, a half sister to c47. After this, I will not being grower that strain anymore because sometimes the nugs come out too fluffy. Also, it is a tad harsh, although tasty. Think Different, which I call C47, is tasty and smooth, nice big buds which are dense.
I can't believe this 33" auto, though in a solo cup. Imagine what they can do in a 2L bottle?
Here is a pic of the crystals of the outdoor Ak-47. We just had some crazy rain, but it looks like clear skies and decent hot weather until at least the 19th, so yay. These should be done by then.
These should all finish in 31 days, all but the super tall one as it got a late start in flowering. Not complaining there as she is like 4 feet tall and I am sure will give a good yield.
YIELD for outdoor autos.
So, the outdoor autos. Just between two Think Different's, I got 10oz. I got 6oz between two CB, which stayed rather short. So a pound from four autos. BTW, you can easily get two outdoor crops with autos.
I can't wait to see what Think Different can do in a 2L soda bottle. BTW, 2L of liquid holds much more soil. To give an idea, a 3 gallon growing pot only holds 1.6 gallons of water. So for every .5333334 gallons of water is 1 gallon of medium.
2L soda bottle = 1 gallon pot
1gallon container of water = 2 gallon pot
1.6 gallons of water = 3 gallon pot
2.6 gallons of water = 5 gallon pot
5 gallons of water = 10 gallon pot
10.6 gallons of water = 20 gallon pot
Basically, any container per gallon of water holds twice as much medium as a grow pot. So if you get a 5 gallon grow pot, just know it is equal to about half that in a container rated for 2.6 gallons of water. This is why you can grow a much larger plant in a five gallon bucket for DWC than in a 5 gallon medium pot.
A better comparison would be a plant grown in a 10 gallon medium pot vs a 5 gallon bucket.
I finally finishing harvesting and trimming all the outdoor. Used a trimmer this year. Much easier. Got tons of sugar cuttings and small buds to turn into bubble hash and shader.
Here are some pics.
I got a little over a pound from the Headband, largest plant. Dry.
Autos are coming along nicely. This is a smaller once. The largest is up to my eyes now. It is so huge. I can't wait to show you pics of her by herself.
This is what my regulars look like after I lollipop. I don't do this to autos. I cause the least stress possible with them to maximize yields.
I can really see headbands potential. This bud I cut from the very bottom of the tree. In fact, it was touching the ground partly. If only indoor lights could penetrate like that.
This was the top of the plant.
My very first attempt at making shadder. It was almost hard. It has a slight taffy texture, but is not sticky. You can handle it no problem. Very smooth. If you snap it quickly, it breaks right off and looks like glass broke.
I didn't do a water bath. Instead I placed the bho I shot from the tube into the pyrex onto a grow heat mat. According to my laser thermometer, the product got to 98 degrees.
I also did the same for when it was in the vag chamber at 29hg. I think i didn't vac it long enough. I did do it over night, though. This one guy from the dispensary does his for 3 days. I am not sure if he holds the pressure that long or actually runs his pump none stop that long.
I fill it up to 29hg, then close the valve and let it sit. I breath it now and again and repressurise.
Maybe my second run will turn out better. I have loads of small buds and trimming to experiment with.
Update. I ended up almost getting three pounds from outdoor plants. Not too bad for a late start.
Autos are now 60 days old. Yes, they will start to fatten up big now.
This bud should thicken up really nice.
This is the huge auto Think Different. It's so big that it is hard to see any of the shorter plants. It takes up a huge amount of space. it is the largest indoor auto I have grown. it is even larger than the huge 5.5 foot tall Think Different. It's not as tall, but it is much wider.
Autos are now 75 days old. I might have not put the right starting date for when these popped because they don't seem 75 days old. This strain is dense by day 75. These buds aren't that dense yet. Most of the hairs are still white. I say they have a good 10 days left. Maybe the gavita bulb prolonged their veg life, because they did get super huge this time.
Picture update of the autos. They just have to dense up now.
Switches autos to 12/12 was a bad idea, which I thought it would be. One of them reverted to veg. Weird, huh? Like the opposite of a regular. Started with 18/18, then switched to 12/12 after the buds buffed up. This caused one of them to half reveg.
Anyway, the others are not as dense as they should be.
Sometimes weird happened. Same thing happened to my friend. Luckily for me, this was the only auto that did it. So, my auto reveged.
You know how if you put a normal plant into 12/12 get it to have nice big buds on it, then go to 18-6 it reveges and all the buds separate into branches.
Well, remember I started my autos in 18/18 and usually run them in 18/18 the whole time. However, the regulars got too big, so I had to finish the autos in 12/12. One of them complete reveged in 12/12? WTF? I didn't expect that. I knew I wouldn't get as big of yields, but damn.
Here is a pic.
I chopped her up and put her in the hash pile. I will get pics up of the rest of the autos before I harvest them, hopefully tonight. They are way overdue. They didn't get nearly as big as when they spend their whole life under 18/18, so 12/12 for autos at anytime of their life sucks.
