GlimmerGrass's Maiden Grow - Crop King Seeds' Early Miss Auto Fem in Coir - 2015

Leaves canoeing ever so slightly it appears. I love the trichomes.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Heat stress: lights were definitely too close. I have to get REALLY close to see the trichomes, but they are there! Thanks, Jim!

^^^ I am out of words ^^^

Aw, thank you, WS. I am so in awe of these plants. Vigorous, with a will to live and thrive that amazes me. They are growing and flowering IN MY SHOWER. Blows my mind. I just want to not screw them up.

They look so tender and feminine at this stage :welldone: They'll grow up before your eyes!

Yay, golfer! They do look super girly -- kind of ruffly :) And I can't take my eyes off them!

Now I need to figure out exactly when to back build them. Any advice gratefully received!

The jungle girls today:

I've been going in under the canopy (I use the term lightly) and removing leaves from under there. I'm not sure how many leaves to remove or how to proceed with a mild defoliation further. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!

The colas continue to develop.

Hi, lexort -- I like it a lot. Of course, I don't have any other grows to compare it with :) But it certainly seems to be doing the trick. I love the built in fan and the fact that's it's self contained. Very easy to use.

Before the end of this week I have to move my set up upstairs into a spare room, so the girls will have a little more room to spread out in. I'll probably add the CFLs up there -- there's just no room for them in the shower :) They will also help keep the girls warm -- it's getting really cold here at night now.

Ok cool im intrested to see the cfls in conjunction with the led. They really took off after you started using the led im pretty impressed by that led lol take it easy friend

Okay, a day late and a dollar short, but I'm here!

Two days ago we moved the girls into their final home: my office :)

7 weeks from sprouting above ground:

I think they like being able to stretch out a little. I certainly like being able to see what's going on under the canopy better. I cleaned up any yellowing leaves I found. It's not exactly what I'd call a nice even canopy, but I have a much better idea what to do next time :)

Here's a developing cola on Scylla:

Scylla was topped and seems to have liked it. Her flowers are coming in well, and yesterday, for the first time, I saw trichomes spreading from the baby calyxes to the sugar leaves. SO EXCITING! They also really smell like weed now :)

Here's another bloom on Scylla:

Charybdis's buds are much, much fluffier than Scylla's:

Should I leave the fluffy buds lower on the stalks alone or should I take them off?

I wonder sometimes about the path not taken - growing wise. I trimmed only fan leaves. I left most of the smaller buds in place. One line of thought is getting rid of the small stuff allows bigger colas by eliminating the feeding and energy by those smaller buds. In my last grow I didn't trim any buds at all. Mostly fan leaves. It's possible I could have gotten bigger buds if I trimmed all the little buds lower on the branches.

For me, it's tough seeing all those swirly little arms reaching out and cutting them off.:hmmmm:

I love those pictures too. Great job with the bokeh and you can see all the little buds stretching away in the background :high-five:

The trichomes are looking great! Mine seemed to take a bit longer to be as visible as yours.

I usually harvest the stuff that looks ready then remove the fan leaves that are blocking the light from the buds so i can let the mid and lower level bud catch up.

My 2c when it comes to cleaning up the undergrowth, Glimmer, which will be a little vague I think. I'm no expert. It's just my ideas.
I might-
- take out all the fan leaves, foliage and buds on roughly the bottom third or even bottom half of the plant.
OR - leave all the fan leaves as they usually don't cause any harm, but go through and remove all the small buds from roughly the bottom half. The last 8-10" or so of each limb will produce the most bud. The small internal ones on the lower/inner nodes don't produce much and usually take a lot longer to ripen so tend to be immature when the plant is harvested, as most people don't want to wait around for the lower part to ripen.

- the lower fan leaves won't get much light and may die off naturally. While probably not getting enough light to get much photosynthesis done, I assume they could still produce some energy, and could also still be useful as nutrient reserves for the plant.
- on the negative side- they impede airflow and make things a little more crowded and 'messy', and could possibly attract mold or disease- though I've never actually found that to be the case in normal indoor growing.
