Gimik's Quantum Grow: GG#4 x Cheese x White Widow

Here's some close up shots of the GG#4! It might be kinda hard to tell but the bud sites are stacking very nicely and might shape up to be a nice yield.

The only problem I'm seeing is the fact that it is still yellowing and I'm unsure why... Temp and Humidity are in desirable ranges, the lights are too close so I don't see it being light burn, I've been feeding nutes every watering but they are all natural except the Advanced Nutrients but when I add those I use 1/4 strength so I don't think it's nute burn/nutrient lockout. Every watering the pH is between 6.3-6.8 with it varying each watering. I don't see any bugs/pests on the plants. I've been adding calmag to each watering for the last 5 waterings so IDK. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

I also noticed the leaves on the other two plants (GG#4 x White Widow // GG#4 x Cheese) are all pointing up to the sky as if they're praying. What causes this? Is this a sign of something being wrong? Stress of some sort? Refer to the above post to see my environmental conditions.

Praying up towards the lights is what you want to see. They are just enjoying the lights. Hopefully the chart will shed some light on the color issues. Good luck

@420BudzFreak
Hey thanks for the information I'm pretty sure I've seen that chart around. It could possibly be nitrogen deficiency -- they really stretched and thickened up the last couple weeks, could've been sucking up that N. I switched to bloom nutes which don't have as much N. Might have to go 1/2 veg and 1/2 bloom nutes next feeding.

Sweet! After seeing the yellowing of the GG#4 I was worried the praying leaves were another issue that required attention. They don't seem to be suffering from shock too badly, they should bounce back from the lollipopping next time the lights turn on.

Yup, pointing up praying to the sun, all good.

I'd be inclined to give it more N to see if you can get the color back in the leaves.

Yeah I think that is my next diagnostic test. Gunna add more N + full dose calmag and see what happens. I gotta get this under control so it can focus on packing on weight. Will post back with update after next feeding.

Good Afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Today marks the start of Week 4 Flower and the girls are starting to look frosty!! Pics at the bottom

A couple of things:
- I lowered my Quantum Boards to ~14" from the canopy, down from 18". According to the PAR map posted on their website the boards give pretty good numbers at 12" in an open space. Because I'm in a tent the rating will be slightly higher. Will adjust as I see fit.

- I started noticing that the GGxWW was showing sign of nutrient burn, which at first didn't make sense because I've been feeding 1/4 - 1/2 strength dosages each feeding, I realize the pot was sitting in the run off water absorbing the excess nutes. To combat this I sat the pots on top of an upside down tray to suspend them above the runoff.

Lastly, I adjusted the scrog to try and tame these wild women, they grew up past the original position like it was nothing. I managed to open up all the plants and get some nice light exposure to the mid carriage area.

Thanks @Scrogdawg

Ya I was confused at first because now that I'm using more water each feeding I'm getting more runoff so it's pooling up in the back corner. It wasn't an issue when I was giving them lighter waterings. Now, once I get the yellowing on the GG#4 plant under control I'll be 100%.

Hi everybody!

Today marks the start of week 5 flower and the ladies are looking good! They are starting to pack on weight and are becoming more frosty each passing day its very exciting. Half way through flower they already look 100x better than my first grow at harvest which tells me I got screwed on genetics last time.

Everything has been on cruise control since the last update. Unfortunately the GG#4 is still showing signs that something is wrong b/c the yellowing hasn't improved but hasn't gotten worse... I stepped up the dosage of nutrients to full strength the last several feedings but still nothing. I think it's effecting the development of the bud b/c all the hairs are still bright white while the other two plants have already started to darken. Here are some pics let me know what you think?

Alright everybody I need some assistance...

I wake up this morning and discover my GG#4 x White Widow plant is looking like this... What is going on? I've been feeding full strength nutes the last two feedings...the tips are burnt but it looks like its deficient? All three plants have been getting the same stuff but only the smallest of the three plants doesn't have burnt tips or is yellowing. Maybe my nutrients are expired?

Ya the chart is very helpful and tbh I didn't even see the Late Stage Potassium image but that's exactly what it looks like is going on. Majority of the time spent on this website I'm stoned to the bone so I sometimes overlook things :smokin2:

To give a small update -- I just watered them again.
  • Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Part A (Full Strength)
  • Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Part B (Full Strength)
  • Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy (Full Strength)
+
  • 4 Tbs Molasses
  • Full Strength Liquid Seaweed
  • Full Strength URB Natural
  • Full Strength Calmag
The waterings are coming every two days now these girls are drinking up everything I give them -- about 1.75 - 2gal each. I'm worried the GG#4 has completely used up all the available space in the 5gal pot because if you knock on the pot it sounds dense and full of roots + I can see roots sticking out of the bottom of the pot. Does this mean I will need to up-pot to a 7gal?? Or is it okay to leave in it's current home?

I also added some extra light to my setup. I finally got around to hanging up two additional 150w HPS lights. I strategically placed these lights to fill in some of the gaps in light produced by the quantum boards and give some extra energy to some of the smaller buds. Unfortunately with these quantum boards there is little to no spread b/c there are no lenses on the diodes so most of the energy is concentrated directly under the plant which is fine if each plant has at least their own lamp. There were two spaces that were getting little to no light because of the spread of the QB, or lack there of, so I figured it couldn't hurt to add the hps lights. The orange light in addition to the white light really makes the buds look frosty. I'll post a separate update with bud shots when I have time to do a proper photo shoot haha.

@Kismet Welcome to the Journal!

I've been away due to personal reasons and haven't been updating much. I took a pretty nasty fall snowboarding yesterday and I'm pretty sure I tore my MCL so there's that lol.

As for as the grow, things are going alright... The GG#4 is entering week 7 and all the pistils are pale white and it's development seems completely stalled. There's been some signs of flowering like darkening of a pistil here and there but visibly behind the other two plants. I'm worried because I'm leaving to New York for a week at the end of the month and there's no way it's going to be ready for harvest and there's no one I can ask to take care of it while I'm gone. I think it's going to be RIP for the GG =(

The GGxWhite Widow is almost ready for harvest. About 15-20% of the trichome heads are amber so we're going to start the flushing process starting next watering. Pure 2.5gal RO water Ph'd @ 6.8. The aromas this plant has are unreal plus the buds are so dense and sticky I can't even touch them with my bare hands.

The GGxCheese is coming along nicely, has great aromas and very sticky buds. The trichome heads are still mostly clear but I've identified several that have already turned amber so I'll have to keep a close eye on it.

Here are some pics for you guys. First up is the GG#4

GG#4 (Day 44 Flower)
As you can probably see, the pistils on this plant are still completely white and translucent. I'm really worried the flowering process has stalled or has becoming greatly slowed. What could cause this? Or am I over-reacting and it's okay that the hairs are still super white at this stage of flower?
