here is a well overdue update.

I have scrapped all my clones...i still stand by kimmy's cloning method as the best I have ever tried, but they dont root for me nearly as fast as i would like. I will come back to clones when my finance and lifestyle are corrected.

My DWC plants are alive and healthy but not doing a lot at the moment. i abuse these for leaves to smoke so i dont upset my autos lol.

my mini germination is over, i have 2 sleetstackxskunk and 1 big bud (2) that are safely in seedling stage. i did have 3 ssxs but one 'fell over and died'. these will be going into hydroganic pots along side my autos, but will just have 24/0 as i didnt replace my broken timer when i went fully auto. i will keep theses from becoming monsters and will flower them after i have harvested pollen from my kc45s

im sorry these are all the pics i can muster...you have no idea what a carry on it was to get these....pictures of the kremlin interior would have been easier =D

this shows my fan blowing on the bulb and a reflective wall behind it. from my previous pics you will see my 'room' is much bigger but i have shrunk it with survival blankets to maximise light relfection. what it doesnt show is the 3 inch gap at the bottom of the blanket offering cold air in from all angles, nor does it show the 'hot air' area above the room carefully laid out to maximise hot air leakage upwards to control the thermodynamics passivly.

just a better view of the right hand plants. these pics dont show it very well but they are all getting super frosty and swelling up now. front middle plant is my NL...still a long way to go by the look of it..all that is on those fast autos now is bud and sweet leaves. no normal leaves exist anywhere (unless they were too hard to get at without risking a cut bud)

just a better look at the bulb...you can see my diy 180 watt t8 array at the back there. made from an old cot side and lights claimed free from a demolition job =D it only cost me the price of the wiring to get up and running. its a shame ive gone off these i have like 30 or 40 ballasts for the 30 watt tubes and nothing to do with them ( still in the banged up lights atm stashed around the house.) i dont fancy ebaying them. maybe one of you guys can give me an idea for them...or they go to a scrap metal collector =(

Hows this for efficient 4 DWC's and 3 seedlings all being fed by 1 23watt cfl =D

thats about it really...just killing time now waiting for these to finish so i can get on with my KC45s =)

yes i scrapped them all. they did have some root formations that look like warts so they were getting there, but im certain that they were dead and just didnt look it. they were in perlite in 90f conditions with as low as 20% RH and i left them for nearly a week once without water and i think they sorta died standing up (looked alive but zero liquid in them.)

The poor babies. No wonder they died.

... downside is they use old magnetic ballasts which use more overhead watts but they convert far more energy to light rather than heat so they are cooler and more efficient overall.

I am old school and prefer a magnetic ballast. They are so reliable and you see where people have had the same one(s) for over 20 years and still work fine. The digitals are getting better I guess, but I have heard soo many stories of failure and a few about fires that I would never chance it. I will never have a want or need to dim one either....

but i picture a particular grow style.
imagine a warehouse all nice and open. then picture a cool tube column every 3' apart with 3x vertical 50w CMH bulbs going up inside it. then at the top of each cool tube would be a 4" ducting pipe leading to a master extraction system. the overall gram to watt should be really high and the amount of wasted energy from heat is minimal.

I can see it now as I have a good imagination. I hope you make it a reality! I will stay subbed...

I have a vertical rack system with 2-600watt HPS cool tubes stuck in my head, but I want to experiment with aero/nft first. Once I get that dialed in I may make the jump to vertical.

I made a little more progress on my aerocloner today. It should be ready for next Mondays cuts. I can hardly wait!

I have read that minibook before. It is a good read. Actually I have it saved to my hard drive as I liked the part on breeding and thought I may need it again someday.

At this point I could root pencils, lol.

this post is dedicated to the owners and staff of 420 magazine.

I know im a controversial member of this forum. i have been known to incite little rebellions here and there if i feel an injustice(my perspective) is happening. im also aware that i lack a lot of social grace sometimes and will bang that last nail in the coffin if i think its warranted. i would also like to believe however that im still valuable and i add a certain twist to everything we think about.

anyways i just wanted to give a large and genuine thank you. even though i often rant against the strict rules we have in place here i see clearly how it helps us to be a cut above the rest (even if i think you could be a little more flexible every now and then=p )
quite often i visit other forums to read articles that are easier to find elswhere (yes you can read that as a complaint...when i have to use google to get at an article on THIS site that our internal search wont find) and i can see the difference in general level of knowledge and behaviour starkly. i even went so far as to register on one of them, simply to rant about the disinformation and to hint they could find a far superior forum by googling my alias ( i only write in this forum).

so. point being.. in no uncertain terms, even tho i make a clear distinction between the members and the paid staff as far as where my loyalties lie i am immensly grateful for the quality and volume of work you guys do for us and this site.

i am counting the days until im able to become a sponsor financially. ok i dont have any products to sell so i dont even need advert space but its something i feel almost obligated to do. both 420 and its members have changed my life for the better forever.

I like this post and I agree. Some of the other sites are atrocious. The arguing and bad info on other sites is a sharp contrast to the vibe here !

day 63 mini update.

ok peeps somehow my camera worked a bit today (its a general imaging 8mpxl model A835 if anyone can tell me if i can manually focus)
so i grabbed what pics i can.

this is an update to journal 3 and part of the prologue of grow 4 so i shall link this in there.

My dealer let me down for my weekend treat, so in a fit of nihilism, i snipped the main cola from one of my autos to smoke (barely dry and not ready but its already the strongest thing ive ever made for myself..herb aroma is hints of lemon, but like less of the 'lemon part and more the zing part' cant give a real smoke report as its unripe. mostly tastes of cloro and nutes, lol. very swift and sharp high that fades as quickly as it comes....it needs longer to add depth.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

To me this is the sexiest picture on the whole planet...im litterally smoking this thing right now...ok its under ripe and its wet and it tastes like chlorophyl. but I made this! its cheap, its clean. it takes co2 from the air and sinks it into the earth (when i compost the waste). the only pain, sorrow or discomfort this innocent little plant ever caused was my own at having to harvest it. show me the victim Mr law maker!? this act of defiance i have commited has harmed no one. indeed its pain killing properties are now beyond repute, i could sell this to a construction labourer to help ease his back troubles, pay some tax and go from unemployed to cottage industry herbalist...everyone wins.

Here you can see the bud stuck on top of a yellow pole beneath my light. this is in the sweet spot, between 90 and 95f there and just beneath the wind flow of my fan.
lol the cd is where i had it till i found the pole. it was only there for half hour before i brought it downstairs. its now in one of those lil plastic cups we all use and stuffed behind the radiator so a can grab and trim the outer to smoke

The bottom right plant was its donor.

For thos of you reading from the aspect of my pending 4th grow...as you can see im not stalling when i say i have lots of tidying up to do, this is about 1/3 of my junk. im trying my best to get everything done.....im afraid my grow room only gets a fraction of my time. my kids are little budding megalomaniacs just like daddy and we cant take our eyes off them for a second. hats off to the missus, she does most of the house work while i do most of the glaring at the kids..they still manage to grafiti the entire house, regularly inspect the inside of my pc repairs for themselves, remove chunks of plaster from the wall 'to see what its made from' and so on...lol

bb2 and ssxs seedlings went into hydroganics. the ssxs isnt going to survive its accidental perlite drought but the bb2 appears to be bounceing back...ah well i have two spare ssxs....love you fluffy =D
and of course my bonsai clone,soil-perlite-dwc-soil-defo-rootsnip delahaze thats been with me in many forms since day 1 of this journal....man if anyone is after a sativa and are afraid of killing them...try delahaze =D

Nice pics and story line! I pulled some early too I think many of us do! I hadn't realized until the past week or so that you actually like autos. For most folks they seem to be a try it once thing. I can completely appreciate a regular I just like the flexibility that auto's offer me.
