Getting started and requirements: assistance please

I think the my conclusion for now will be, the tent you buy doesn’t matter as much as the lighting. Buy a tent that’s got enough space for you, then decide how much lighting you want from there. A good rule of thumb for LED is 35 watts per square foot. So a 3x3 tent is 9 square feet, I would suggest a panel that draws ~315 watts of power from the wall. Don’t trust the lights that say 600w 1000w etc, they are only talking about maximum output for the LED chips they use. They are never really run at maximum output, so look closely for actual draw
And if the panel has fans, actual draw includes the power to run them. So shoot a little high.

Oh ya I see that now.... 1000w light has a draw of 408W.... noted!

Really appreciate your help chefgreen and all the others...

Great support, thanks!

That’s crucial when buying lights and knowing how much light to buy

So I’m a little torn ona couple choices on tent and lights....all on Amazon.ca
Lights
1. Phlizon newest 1200w (~252w draw) 199$
2. Aglex 2000w full spectrum (408w draw) 299$

Would going to the 2000w make that much difference for the 100$

Tent
1. Vivosen 36x20x62 95.99$
2. Vivosen 36x36x72 139.99$

Will the 16” make a difference on a couple plants?

Thanks in advance!

For 199 or 299 id grab the mars hydro Ts 1000 or the reflector series they have. And the 16 extra inches would make a big difference as it won't be so narrow

I’d love to see your setup once you’ve got everything

Highly suggest the Mars hydro Tsw, I’ve never heard of the other two companies. And that is the Mars quantum board, you can light up quite a lot of space with it.

Starting with something easy to use... by advanced nutrients... grow, micro and bloom... hope they do the trick!
Read some decent reviews on them and can grab them locally!

If you have a spare bathroom and bathtub use it, perfect for growing.
If not the Mars hydro tent is as good as any.
Unless you are only going to grow two autoflowers from here on out then you may want a larger tent.
IMO 3x3 tent is flat minimum if you ever want to do even one photo-period plant.

Bare minimum lighting for 9 square feet is at least 300 actual watts.
Ideally two TS 1000 lights at about $120 each is what you need.
Would be perfect for two autoflowers.

Unless you've already bought the Promix, you might be better served with Coco coir with about 35% pumice mixed in and use 1/4 strength nutrients. Still a soilless medium but I think might give a bit more oxygen to the roots and be easier to flush any excess salts from.
5 gallon fabric pots is fine for coco and bottle feeding.
Water the coco daily, keep the entire pot moist at all times.
Make sure you got good airflow, use two small fans.
Make sure your fabric pots are on some sort of pot elevator to get air and better drainage on the bottom of the pot.
This Nectar for the Gods sample pack for about $25 can not be beat.
