GDB's Express Grow

Hello growers.

The Grape Ape had dried. I took her down, cut the buds free and ran her through my bowl trimmer.

While she did firm up a bit during the dry her buds remain airy. There were a lot of them though and I was curious about how much she weighed.

She ending up being 180 grams on the button and filled 6 Mason jars.

She is sticky and now she really smells! Can't wait to try some.

Thanks for looking in.

Peace.

Looks great, GDB! Congrats on the harvest.

how do you like the trimmer ?
I find it invaluable at times, a real time-saver and labor reducer!

I have no one to help me trim and someone around here keeps growing more and more plants. Oft times it's just not practical to trim them all by hand so bowl trimmer to the rescue! :Rasta:

i think i better invest. the end of my last grow turned in to a nightmare of bad timing with my work life destroying the related personal time needed.

my long retired parents wound up trimming out half of the last run while i dealt with coping. i think that's the last time i let that shit happen. work can fuck up but i can at least control or mitigate the trimming as a forward improvement.

do you have a recommend on a trimmer at all ? and what is after trim cleaning like ? sorry to pester :cheesygrinsmiley:

Not a problem Bluter. I'm happy to answer!

The one I have is made by Vivosun and is 18 inches in diameter. You can put quite a bit of weed on it. It handled the 180 grams in 2 loads.

After use, there's not much to cleaning it. All of the shake (and many tiny buds) are captured in the bottom bowl ready for use in topicals and/or edibles.

Just remove the big black gasket-looking thingy to get access to what's in the bowl. And handle with care because that's a sharp blade underneath the grid.

Just get your stuff out and wash the bowl (a step I often skip). :) Note, there's a rubber mat in the bottom of the bowl. Not sure why.

It didn't trim as tightly with these light, airy buds as it does with heavier, dense buds.

In this pic, the one of the left is the light airy bud. The one of the right is a dense bud that was also put through the trimmer.

While I won't "recommend" this model (mostly because it's the only one I've ever worked with and have nothing to compare it to), I will say that if you're pressed for time (or just lazy like me), it's a wonderful alternative to hand-trimming!

The rubber mat goes under the bowl to keep it from sliding around while you're cranking it.

thanks gdb ! :)

i'm guessing it works with stuff a touch drier. i strip the big stuff before hang and do a final trim after.. i like the final trim wet enough to work the last bit out on the jars. i have trouble jarring under 60%.

do you think i could keep it about there with the trimmer ?

The trimmer has no effect on RH. That's all on the drying process.

The one's I just did are now in jars reading around 59-60 RH. I may need to rehydrate a little if they don't inch up to about 63 where I like for them to be.

Congrats on a great harvest, GDB!
Even the airy ones add up, eh?
Judging by the look of those nugs, that bowl trimmer is a lot better at it than I am ... :thedoubletake:

Hello growers.

So my newly jarred Grape Ape, after sitting in the jars for a few days were still reading around 59-60RH. A little too dry.

But I recently saw where @LKABudMan said he keeps fresh stems in his freezer in case he needed to rehydrate something.

I didn't have any stems in my freezer, but I had yet to throw away the fresh stems from taking down the plant. So I cut those down to size and stuck a few in each jar.

About 24 hours afterward, my 6 jars now sit at 63RH, 65, 69, 64, 64 and 68. Cool beans! Out with the stems and in with the burping. Now I'll try to get them all down to around 63.

What a neat hack! Thanks Budman!
