I don't have one. I smoke because that's all I can do at the moment. I want to make edibles and capsules but I need to get ahead of the game first. I haven't been able to keep a big enough stash just for smoking yet!
I top once at the beginning. Then again later on about half way through veg. Not every top just the tallest ones. Then I'll top some during stretch depending on canopy evenness to slow em down. It's pretty effective. The more you top the more bud sites/branches pretty much.Hello growers.
These photos are interesting. My Tangerine Dreams are now 50 days old and getting some height to them. I topped them between nodes 3 and 4 when they were 28 days old and haven't done anything to them since.
Do photo growers typically top their plants more than once?

Now that I'm not too sure about. I think after the stretch, the plant stops growing. It focuses on the buds. So you'd cut, but never get any new growth. I always try and do it in veg, and during the stretch at the latest. But correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't grow much if at all that late in the game. Plus it adds stress you could be taking from the buds. I'd wait until next grow!
But as Havoc said, only top in veg.
You can top the main stem twice and LST (mainline) for great results. My journals show what a little top/bend/tie off will do for a plant.My understanding of multiple time topping is that you will get more bud sites, but the colas will not thicken up as much as if you’d only topped the once. Like a quality vs quantity type situation. Which one yields more? I don’t know! Helpful ain’t I?

Hmm, after Havoc's post I topped them both. Took the tops off of the tallest four nodes on each plant. So Chef, the deed has been done. I'll remember what you said about only topping once, but this time I'll just have to live with whatever happens.
@Pennywise , I thought veg was for as long or short a period that I wanted it to be? Am I waiting for the plants to show me something before the flip?
I am not convinced that it has to cause smaller buds... it just depends on what you do from this point on. Usually on one strongly topped plant (I top multiple times) one or maybe two branches take dominance and given proper light and nutrition, each plant produces at least one monster (main) kola. Yes, the rest of the buds are smaller, but there are so many of them that the overall yield goes way up. Maybe the overall quality is slightly less than if the plant was able to throw everything into one big bud, but most of us couldn't tell the difference. Never mind, @Pennywise, I think I know the answer to the question. They will continue in veg even after the flip and that period will be extended.
I just had to kick the brain into turbo. I've turned to turbocharger off now. Whew!
