CDC Online Newsroom - Press Release - Opioids drive continued increase in drug overdose deaths

CDC’s analysis shows that 38,329 people died from a drug overdose in the United States in 2010, up from 37,004 deaths in 2009. This continues the steady rise in overdose deaths seen over the past 11 years, starting with 16,849 deaths in 1999. Overdose deaths involving opioid analgesics have shown a similar increase. Starting with 4,030 deaths in 1999, the number of deaths increased to 15,597 in 2009 and 16,651 in 2010.

In 2010, nearly 60 percent of the drug overdose deaths (22,134) involved pharmaceutical drugs. Opioid analgesics, such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone, were involved in about 3 of every 4 pharmaceutical overdose deaths (16,651), confirming the predominant role opioid analgesics play in drug overdose deaths.

And this is with medical marijuana REDUCING the opiate death toll in MMJ states!

Thank you for that link! I will go read that for sure.

There are a few things; one, I hate going out and I think most people with half a brain also hate it because the world basically sucks the big one these days. Everyone is in such a rush. A teenage girl almost knocked me on the floor in the store today as she was texting. She did not acknowledge me at all. Even after I yelled THANK YOU in her face. Did NOT look up. Wow.

The world is no longer for me. It never really was, truth be told. Only when I lived in New York was I a social being. Maybe it was my people there. Familiarity. Moving to where I am was major culture shock, and continues as the stupidity and utter ignorance continues to grow and manifest.

The other thing is the overdosing in this county. It is so easy to get oxy that I could easily get enough to support a really good habitual usage. Fortunately, I do have a bottles of codones and contins right in my bathroom closet. Why fortunate? Because I no longer take them and when I did, I took maybe two a week with major discomfort. Now, I light up a joint and the pain is one of two things.

1) Pain is gone
2) I no longer CARE about the pain.

Either way, it works to kill the pain. They can no longer deny it. At least not in the two legal states. Not until it is legal LEGAL, I do not consider MMJ states to be "legal." Not yet. Still too regulated. Regulate oil refinery, oil thieves, oil slobs, fracking pigs, go regulate that, not my pot.

Update: Still waiting to harvest. Looking pretty cloudy now. We forecast for rain pretty much for a week every day. Probably will be cloudy, so when that all starts I'll chop my last outdoor Lemon Kush down. Here's what it look like as of an hour ago.

Did anybody spot the spider on vicious watch on one of the colas?

They look so healthy ! Gonna be some good stuff.....that spider is scary ! Hate them...but nice nice bud !

I think it may be good! I don't want to jinx myself.

Wonder how high that spider is?

Heh. Well, spiders are carnivores, so no telling if he's there for the food or the goods! I hope he's really, really stoned and it's great pot!
:)

You silly wabbit! You had me going back & forth looking for that darn spider in post #764. After finally giving up I see post #765. Are you trying to play with my head BKLYN? You know I'm high right now so don't do that...

I know, I feel so guilty!

The only thing I did differently was to add a first bath with hydrogen peroxide. I used two quarts in 5 gallons of water at 3% peroxide. If it is stronger, you have to adjust and don't ask me how to do that because my head will definitely explode into chunks.

I add one cup of lemon juice and a shake of baking soda unmeasured. When I see the water start to foam, I stop. Then one very hot clear water and a cool clear water from the tap.

I cut the colas off and leave the stems for handles. I go up and down up and down swishing gently, making sure the solution really gets into the buds and around. I leave the sugar leaves on for this process. They should also be cleaned since we're going to eat them or some such.

Then they go into the rest of the washes as laid out in the bud washing thread. I forget what order as I sit here and type, but the last is the rinse in cool water. So probably the hot, then the lemon juice/baking soda, then rinse in the cool.

My water was disgustingly filthy. Yick.

My Babygirl would like everyone to drop by 2.0 and watch her first grow; Our Rumble in the Concrete Jungle. I'm not trying to divert traffic from my homegirl Brooklyn's journal or anyone eslse's for that matter but I know BKLYN doesn't mind.

I have already been watching this genesis! And no, I don't mind anyone posting any thing in my journal at any time if it is legal and in the guidelines set up by 420 Magazine.

Even I occasionally do something inadvertently, but of course I don't mind.

How tall is the plant, Babygirl? Got her three feet taller than pop? Oh yeah, this gonna be some fun.

Don't think she'll get there but grew a few inches while away on summer vacation...
