Gang's Second (Box) Grow: CFL + LST + Soil

Towards the end of the life cycle, as the plant rampages through its reserve nutes you will see interesting colors in the fan leaves sometimes. I just harvested last week, and 2 of my plants had red and purple leaves. Idk it jus happens, everything else was in check so I didn't sweat it much.

Cool, thanks! All three of Jetsam's fan leaves (LOL) eventually changed colors too and became crispy dry. I dunno if the dryness is normal or not.

Jetsam's Harvest, Day 76

I harvested a couple more nugs off of Gaia as well . . .

Stats:

Jetsam's wet weight after trimming: 67g

So far, I've harvested 43g wet from Gaia, for a total of 110g wet mass from both plants. I took two more mini-colas from Gaia from near the center of her canopy. I've noticed in both this grow and last that the largest, fullest buds grow around the periphery of the canopy for some reason. The buds in the center of the canopy are not as large it seems. Gaia has got 25 of her finest mini-colas still ripening. Exciting!

Day 77 Update, Part I:

Gaia is harvested! I took lots of pics, so I still need to sift through them, run some numbers, and then I'll post the good stuff.

Looks like I'm gonna yield about the same as last grow, probably around 2.4 oz, since Gaia didn't produce quite what I was hoping for. Still, I am happy with the outcome.

Gaia's wet harvested weight: 213g
Jetsam's wet harvest weight: 67g

So, it's 280g total wet mass after some serious trimming. Btw, trimming while listening to some reggae was a seriously good time. All the pungent aromas swirling around, some nice groove, sticky fingers . . . yeah! Gonna have to get me a sweet chalice tho.

Does this seem like a good estimate for dry yield?

280g X .24 = 67.2g

67.2g/28.35g/oz = 2.37 oz

I'll post some pics later today.

Gaia's Harvest:

Here you can see how the little leaves coming from the buds were turning crazy colors. Additionally, many were becoming dry and crispy and I was able to save some time trimming by just pulling the leaves off:

Here I arranged her newly harvested buds so that you can see how only the top 1.5 to 2 inches become really nice buds. The rest will become popcorn:

Here everyone is showing their best side:

And here I added Jetsam (already been drying for a day) and a couple of Gaia's buds that have been drying as well:

I am curious as to whether there will be a noticable difference between the ladies. I feel like I'm crazy but I notice differences in plants that were grown next to each other of the same strain. I say you're gonna come out like 3.10 oz altogether

I'm kinda wondering if the two plants are gonna smoke the same too. We'll know in two weeks or so. So far I've only smoked Gaia's popcorn buds. Very good, but a bit harsh, so I can't wait to tear into the colas. Yum.

420 Update!

Dry Weights:

Jetsam: 16g (0.56oz)
Gaia: 52g (1.8oz)

Total: 68g (2.4oz)

Almost exactly the same overall yield as last time. Jetsam was mostly an experiment and I was curious to see how well she could recover from her early problems. She was very fun to grow, but didn't yield much. Gaia, however, yielded 40% more buds than the largest plant from the last grow.

I sealed up Jetsam a few days ago once I was able to hear a nice crack in the middle of her stalk when I bent her. The cut end of her stalk snapped off a couple of days before that, but she was still pretty bendy in the middle. She's not so bendy anymore, but she's still in one piece, mostly.

Gaia's buds went into jars a couple of days after Jetsam. All the buds lost close to 76% of their original wet weight, whether from Gaia or Jetsam. I've been cracking open the jars every so often to redistribute the buds and let everything air out for a bit.

It's still early in the cure and Gaia's buds are a fairly harsh smoke still, but she's definitely a heavy hitter already. A couple more weeks and she's gonna be awesome.

Jetsam got pretty dry I guess and a little chunk of bud cracked off near her top when I was putting her back into the jar the other day. That little thang was an amazing smoke!
