Gabby987's Grow Journal: Round Two

Had a few ups and downs.
The seedlings seemed to have stunted a bit. I am not sure if it was due to the fluctuation in humidity.
They seem healthy now, but the leaves are small. I just transplanted them to 1 gal pots and started them on nutes at 400 ppm.
I bet you will see a new growth spurt w/ the up pot .
Especially if the root ball was white and covered the bottom and sides of the original container.
I notice lots of folks here will say a shock happens but I have always seen just the opposite .
Although I have limited experience w/ cannabis , my many years growing veggies & flowers from seed
convinced me the first few weeks are all about getting a strong healthy root ball in place.
Most of the positive growth initially is happening below ground . When the plant is up potted , it immediately gives fresh soil and room for roots to expand.
In turn the plant expands above the ground.
I up potted 3 plants Sunday morning to the final 5 gal pot.
Check out the difference in only 2 days.
What shock ?
Saturday I had topped one plant and prepped another to try quadlineing .
Even more stress but .......
Your plants will really take off now.
I would recommend you check out @Emilya ‘s tutorials on watering and feeding in soil.
It really made a big difference in my last grow.
Cheers.

Your plants look great. I see the difference. Only 2 days? Incredible.
The rootballs in mine were nice and compacted, white and healthy when I transplanted them. I will eventually move them to their final 5 gal pots when they are big enough.
Emilya's watering guide is my Bible. Lol
Do you also use LST? Should I wait until they are in the final pots to tie them down? I want to do a better job of training this time around. In my first grow I untied them during the flowering stretch and I think that was a mistake.

I did LST and topping on my last grow and was very pleased.
I am doing three training methods on these Gorilla Glue Auto’s just to see which produces the best.
I topped one and that’s all I will do .
Trying quadlining on another. Topped above 4th node and trimmed nodes #1 & #2.
The third I will do LST. I did the initial bend and secured it this morning.
I waited on LST till I was in the final pot , but it really wasn’t tall enough till now.
It appears most folks leave the plant tied down till harvest.

I like to follow your progress with the techniques. I'm liking the topping. I was too scared to top in my first grow, but by the time they got to flower I got up some courage and super cropped. I can't believe these plants put up with that.
I just noticed the names on your plants. I was using numbers, it's so impersonal. Hehe
By the way, you were right, my new girls are happier already.
Are you giving nutes yet?

I used letters and numbers last time.
I thought names of women who are very special to me would be appropriate for this grow.
I had one outside plant this year that grew taller than my 6’ privacy fence .
Super cropping did the trick.
I made up my pots a few days ago and watered and added some nutes to the soil.
Waited 4 or 5 days and transplanted.
I did my first feed in these pots this morning.
I am going to try and maximize nutes till I get a little tip burn.

Big happy girl. What strain?
Barney’s Farm Amnesia Lemon. Sativa.
She was a project. 4 harvests.
I still have some in the fridge drying.
The rest is in different stages of cure.
Probably end up with excess of 2 1/2 lbs of dried and cured.
Wonderful citrousy bouquet. Uplifting sativa buzz .
Her sister was grown in my grow room and was about 3’ tall.
Very different .

4 harvests. Amazing.

I am planning to do some outdoor growing next season. I would love to grow a Sativa. I found a couple of well hidden spots in the woods on my property. Start them indoors early get them in the ground already hardened at the beginning of May.

Exactly. I dropped 9 seeds on 4/20 :peace: and 7 germinated.
I didn’t have room for 7 inside so I moved her to one of my raised bed veggie gardens.
I never expected that she would get so big .

Wow.
The seedlings really took off since the upcan. They look so happy I took a group photo.
The clones are growing like crazy too. I'm thinking of flowering them soon due to space restrictions in the veg room.
The seedlings are due for a first feeding, I am afraid to mess things up, they don't seem to need anything at the moment.

Whatever you are doing , keep it up :thumb:
That is a healthy garden .
Most people will wait a couple weeks to start feeding seedlings.
You will need to feed them at some point , the question is when and how much .
I use Fox Farm nutrients and follow their schedule.
I figure they know a lot more than I do .
Their feeding schedule does start week 1.
I am convinced up potting results in very positive growth .
Especially for the root system and the plant.
See 8 days from transplant.
