Hey gang! How things going?
Ween is right. LW is applied very heavy, on top and under all leaves, stems, like the plant just endured a rain storm. Shake off the excess. Like Doc says, you are also trying to physically knock off any critters, eggs, or whatever could be there, with the spray.
I don’t see many critters other than occasional thrips, but it’s good insurance and it also feeds the plant, so I always use it. 2 time in veg, 2nd at the flip.
I don’t remove any leaves when they’re young like that, unless I’m topping and training, leaves are in the soil, or the leaves are burnt/ yellow. Those big sun leaves are doing an important job. Those spouting tops underneath will grow past those leaves soon enough. When you flip them, then you can cut a lot of the undergrowth away that won’t get light anyway, unless you like trimming popcorn buds.
After a few grows you’ll develop you own way of pruning to maximize your space. I don’t maximize my at all, but like the ease of the tomato cages, and dollies to roll them around.
