The outside 5th Fuel D.OG is well on it's way to finishing this month. The flowers are showing their stickiness.

I'm really loving this strain. The hydro grow is well cured now and has a wonderful taste. I am getting earthy piney citrus taste. Smell is mostly earthy piney.:cheesygrinsmiley::bong:

This strain has a sedative effect on me. Good nausea and small pain medicine. :)

The outdoor 5th Fuel D.OG is getting fat. It's been raining a lot and I've been checking the hourly weather forecast and when I get a decent dry stretch, I use the leaf blower on the outside plants to shed some of the water.

The deck Wedding Cake is looking good but not as ripe as the Fuel D.OG.

Good luck on getting that chunky lady harvested, it'll be interesting to see what difference there is with the hydro buds.

Hydro Fuel D.OG harvest page 11.

The outside 5th Fuel D.OG is still moving towards ripening and harvest. The colas are huge! They are not as dense as the hydro buds, more fluffy looking. They are being watched closely for signs of disease. So far so good. We are having cooler nights but dry and a little windy. It's supposed to rain all day Sunday though.

The deck Wedding Cake is still flowering nicely. Totally different plant than the Fuel D.OG. More traditional Indica structure to the flowers.

The outside 5th Fuel D.OG will probably be harvested this coming weekend. :) Will be watching the weather. :hmmmm: It rained a lot the last couple of days and the nighttime temperatures have been cool. I took the leaf blower to the two outside plants, and blew a lot of the excess water off them before dark last night and it didn't rain again.:) There has been a slight breeze and things are drying out. No signs of disease at the moment and the weeks forecast is supposed to be sunny and mild. :) It's supposed to rain again this coming weekend, so if the FDOG looks ready, it'll be harvested before the next rains.:):bong:

The deck Wedding Cake still has more time to go. It's shedding most of it's fan leaves from the bottom up.

Outside 5th Fuel D.OG is still on schedule to be harvested in a couple of days. Right before the forcasted start of the rains. The leaves on the colas are quickly yellowing. These started flowing outside before the Solstice and they finished earlier than expected in the hydro grow too.

The Wedding Cake is still looking like a sometime in October harvest.

Outside 5th Fuel D.OG quickly ripening. The leaves on the colas are yellowing real fast. Harvest in a few days before an extended rainy weather forecast.

The outside 5th Fuel D.OG is continuing to ripen. Most of the leaves are dying and no signs of disease yet. I will check the hourly weather tomorrow and harvest before it rains. :)

It started storming last night and is still raining as I post.

I decided to try my hand at making COB using the outside 5th Fuel D.OG as it is dried but not cured. :) The flower is fluffier than my hydro buds so if it is not to my liking, oh well.

Using the Tangwena method mentioned in @SweetSue 's post

I cleaned up 147 grams and crammed as much as I could into my pre press rosin making cylinder mold. I made seven with the 147grams and they averaged 21 grams each.

I used parchment paper as wrapper as I had it on hand for rosin making;

They are currently in the sweating phase for 24hrs at 104F.

FDOG COB (2).JPG

1st attempt at making a COB. This one ended up being rejected but it told me this was not enough flower and more would be added , and pressed more firmly. I made seven and it worked perfectly.

1st attempt at making COBs 147 grams of dried but not cured outside 5th Fuel D.OG colas were used to make these seven COBs that averaged 21grams each. They are currently in the sweating phase of the process.

I have a question for you about your string. I was wondering what kind did you use? It looks like a nice diameter compared to what I tried. Very nice looking cobs btw. CL🍀. :thumb: :cheer:

whats a cob ?

my little out door plant ...

I wish I knew more about the string. :hmmmm: We've had it for years and I've used it for many things. :) It looks like the old cotton kite string of my youth. :hmmmm: It's no longer on the original spool. I know we've used it for making Panamanian style tamales to tie them up at the end. :cheesygrinsmiley: Used banana leaves as wrappers instead of corn husk.:) I'm planning on putting the sweated COB on the wireless router for fermenting. It's the only place I can think of that puts out heat 24/7. :hmmmm: I could take them to the grow and put them on the dehumidifier, it pretty much runs continuously.

Do we remove the wrapper too after sweating or fermenting? :hmmmm: Or just at cure or does it stay on then too?:)

whats a cob ?

my little out door plant ...

Good looking bud.:)

I was asking the same question not too long ago. :hmmmm: I've never tried them but have heard of them over time.
My idea of what COB is. It's fermented bud, that's been cured. A old way of preserving cannabis, that has the wonderful effect of making it stronger too. A lot of people eat it and use it for medicine.

Here is a link to the Tangwena's Method of making it by SweetSue. Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

I'm in the early stages. Sweating the COB.:)

The outside 5th Fuel D.OG colas are made into COBs and are now in the ferment stage for the next week. :)

The deck Wedding Cake is still chugging along, the buds are very pretty, if not too large at the moment.:) They have a strong skunky smell.:cheesygrinsmiley::bong:

The 5th Fuel D.OG COB will come out of the ferment stage tonight and will be inspected before going into the cure stage. :)

The deck Wedding Cake is quickly ripening. :) We are supposed to have cool nights so maybe a little more color before harvest. :) May get rain tonight also but the winds are supposed to pick up afterwards, so things should dry out.:hmmmm: just hope the winds don't break the now heavier branches.
