And so it begins...
You've seen me lurking in your journals, posting here and there, listening to stories of success, of bountiful harvests, of fragrant drying rooms, of solid nugs and packed bowls. I've been taking notes on what seems to work, on what seems easy to do, and on (primarily) what's cheap to get started.
A rundown on the grow, hopefully not leaving out too many important details.
But first, our title sponsor
BLUE PLANET NUTRIENTS!!!!
Thanks Corey, by the time you read this, you'll have my shipping info. You're the best, thanks for actively being a part of this site and with your growers!
*ahem*
The strains: Trainwreck and Lavender Trainwreck (Or Lavender Wreck, there seems to be some flexibility in the naming convention.
These were chosen primarily as they were the best of the available selection at the collective nearby. Some internet research reveals a bit of the strains' background, a strong sativa that is described as follows:
TrainWreck delivers a incredible, clear and pyscodelic high. Its special ''without ceiling'' properties make it one of the most potent Sativa's for the indoor grower. Combined with a unique high Train Wreck has wonderful deep flavours of mint, pine, lemons and citrus fruits, which delight the pallete and stimulate the senses. Trainwreck is a clone that has been passed around in northern california for about the last twenty years or more.
Lavender Wreck (lets' call it that for short) seems similar, but harder to find information on. My relentless search continues.
I've never tried either. It apparently yields fairly well, up to 500g/sq/m, with an 8-9 week flowering time. This is general information from a couple of seed sites, I'd be delighted with any feedback anybody may have on these strains.
This grow will be conducted 420fied style, in 2l bottles, filled with a 75/25% Perlite/vermiculite mixture. At least, it will once we get the clone moms underway. They're a little scrawny at the moment, not quite ready to start pumping out babies. Lights are, at the moment, a trio of 4' shoplights, each running a pair of Daylight 6500k 32w T5 bulbs. Expansion to the full grow, over the next month or so, will hopefully include some Advanced LED's. However, if Santa is a little more withdrawn this year, it'll be a 600W HPS on a mover.
If I'm really broke, it'll be a shitload of CFL's.
The Growroom is going to have a couple of environmental challenges, but rather than keep cool and humid, I'll be fighting my way back from ambient conditions of 40 degree and 85% humidity. My initial setup seems, however, to be maintaining suitable conditions at the moment. My water source at this stage are the big 2.5gal distilled water containers at the local grocery. One of them has nutes mixed in, and is clearly labeled DO NOT DRINK.
And now, since I promised everybody pictures, here we go.
Trainwreck 1 and 2. Couple of scraggly little pups, unfortunately the best of the litter. The guy at the place said these came from a good mom, and I hope they grow tall and fat.
The Lavender sisters. These looked a lot healthier than the Trainwreck at the shop, but they're supposed to be very closely related.
I get my media mixed, my tools and everything cleaned and ready, my plants labeled and lined up and ready to have their little rockwool bases snuggled into the hempy mixture, and I notice...
I've only got four plastic cups.
And so, the last two plants, Lavender 3 and Lavender 4, are in Crown Royal glasses until tomorrow. All six were each watered with 6-8oz of (OTHER BRAND NUTES) veg mix at about 1/4 strength, to get their little roost started out into the medium.

The plan from here is to let these six take root, straighten up and get a little healthier, and then transplant into 6 larger containers, namely the 2-liter hempys. They will each be groomed as moms, likely with some manner of LST technique, and vegged heavily. 18/6 vs GLR seems to be under debate here, and I'd love to hear opinions. Once the moms are ready, I'll start pulling clones, hopefully 20-30 per round, and setting them up in the cloner I built over a Sunday afternoon. They root there, and are planted into a sea of green, run in a continuous 12-12 style with no veg (I don't yet know anything about this strains' stretching) and be ready for harvest in 8-9 weeks. I'll continue pulling clones off the moms every two to three weeks, and backfill the garden, and within 6 months plan to have it on a continuous schedule of rotating harvests, perhaps 25 plants at a time.
Huge thanks in advance, all. This site has been invaluable to me already. I've learned so much in the last couple of months here that I couldn't imagine trying to do this without a roadmap. Thank you for patient responses to newbie questions, and for a couple of encouragements to get my own grow and journal started already. You guys are the best.
Welcome aboard!
