First Time Grower

Ok so I've been looking and reading ALOT on these forums and wanna say thanks to everyone who has helped a fellow grower. Ok so i got a 600w hps/mh for a closet around 3x3 . I plan on doing a soil grow (every hydro bud i smoke doesnt have that earthy taste which is one of the many reasons i fell in love with this plant). Keeping in mind this is my first grow I'm gonna use mexi seeds. No point in buying those high pricetag seed if i dont learn how to treat them. I plan on keeping a grow journal to record my learning experience. I'm gonna do some more research on here before i ask any questions that have already been answered.

My advice to you as a first time grower is this,

First, if you are starting from seed, then use seeds from buds that you
enjoyed smoking. The truth of the matter is this, seeds grown from
potent bud, will grow into potent plants

now you said that your closet is only about 3x3 and you are using a 600
light, your gonna want to make sure to have a good circulation of airflow
so as to not have too much heat build-up.
