First Time Grow Journal - Outside - Kaya Gold & Freebies

Hey, I've been checking out Oregon Green Seed out of Portland, OR. They specialize is seeds of strains to grow outside in 45 degrees N. and above. Is anyone familiar with them? They seem to have a good rep, or at least I haven't seen much negative.

Not familiar with them KK. Take a look at Stoney Girl Gardens. NCW lives up your way & has grown some amazing plants from SGG.:Namaste:

Looking good pal!! The girls are really coming along nicely!!
:bravo::high-five:

I want to take this moment to thank everyone here for making this forum possible. As a new grower, I, of course, sought out support. But at the same time, an even more importantly, this is an amazing site like minded folks to form and participate in a true community. And I appreciate all the amazing help and support I've received so far. But way beyond that, I love the fact that, I hope, that this forum has helped me bond new friendships that will endure. With that said, I think it is going to frigging rain for a few days beginning the end of the week....

Oh, and this. I'm wondering how I can wait all those months to start this over again. Hmm. Some of my friends here remember that some weeks ago I as pondering finishing this thing inside. Then I started thinking indoors. Shoot. No budget for this....but let's think on this. Any thoughts from my friends on how I might promote this thought going forward would be greatly appreciated.

A few days rain needn't worry you too much. If it rains day after day and gets cold and rainy and wet and rainy and cold (you'll know it when you see it) then it's time to worry more. I've heard it can get this way in Oregon :).

"Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain, sun, rain
Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain, rain, sun
I must be, I must be in Oregon."

Greg Brown - lyrics from 'I must be in Oregon'

I'm sure you'll have an increasing insatiable appetite to grow cannabis now and will only be satisfied by setting up something during winter. You could do a cfl grow, or get an Led or Hid setup. The latter can probably be found pretty cheap especially if you want to really go cheap and look second hand/Ebay,etc. Lots of things to discuss for all the different growing situations- but lots of the basics are the same too. You'll need a room- or two if you do a perpetual veg/flowering room setup. A flowering room must be sealed up against any light leaks. You may need a venting/cooling system.
There's lots of work to do so if you think this is a direction you want to go in....
well... You may as well get started!!

We're all rooting for you pal. Things are really looking good but the road may get a bit bumpy if those rains and high humidity continue.
If you're able to do so it would help to go and give them a good shake after the rains stop to help the buds dry off faster. It will also help a bit with preventing branches from breaking.

Looking great KK! The only downside is, it looks like you have about another month to go.

As far as local strains, I grew Pitbull from Stoney Girl. They are supposed to finish in 5-6 weeks. That's about as good as it gets and they are bred in the Salem area. They also breed down by me at Stoney Mac, so their stuff is fully acclimated to the area. I'll check out Oregon Green.

Thanks Major. I'm hoping we can survive a month. It looks doable. The weather has been good so far, but we're facing a few days of rain at the end of the week. As long as it doesn't really set in, I think we'll be OK.

Thanks Uncle. We'll give them a shake. Rain hasn't come yet, though. Coming in a couple days. But then it should be nice again.

Been worrying about the PM coming back with the rain. Lately I I have been trimming of any bug eaten, yellowing or weak looking leaves with an eye toward air movement through the plants. Today I started that process and stopped. The PM attacks the weakest leaves first. So I decided to leave all the weak leaves as "traps" during the moist period we'll start tomorrow.

KK...take a look at UVC lights. Prices vary. Serious Seeds even sells one on its website. :Namaste:

You'll need to keep a lookout for bud rot once the rains begin. If you notice any dark areas on any of the buds it would likely be bud rot which will spread pretty rapidly. If you notice any affected buds it would be best to trim them off to prevent from spreading.

The weather forecast really couldn't be better. Just a day of rain today. They are already dry by mid day tomorrow. Then a day and a half of moisture in the next ten days on the forecast, which always have to be qualified. But I won't be undone by a day or two of rain here and there. We're looking good. I don't think we will see a big change in weather for the next month unless it is in the last few days.
