First Time Grow - Advice Welcome

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Yeah that one, which is the one who had the broke leaf at the beginning, is drooping pretty hard. I changed the soil and now it can grow some more. Hopefully the soil was the problem and not anything else. Im just waiting on this light and once i have that then its going down! Truth is, i dont know what the temp is inside my closet. Its not hot but its not cold. If anything its not hot enough sometimes. But i think its stays around 69 F +.

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Must i soak the soil when watering it or should i just water until i see good drainage?

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Thinking about letting my plants get 24hr light, what do you guys think?

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Plants need a dark period to use that energy to grow and rest. 24hr light periods would only be good if your keeping them as mother plants. And some growers would still give mother plants a dark period. Why do you want to switch the lighting?

I was thinking about other peoples seedlings and how they are bigger than mines at the same age. Ive been growing for about 2 /12 weeks and others seedlings are 3 times as big. I will say that i used a crappy used up Miracle Grow when i potted them the first. Now that i have the correct dirt and in need of a better light, i figured i could prolong the light cycle but i guess not. Patience is what i need. lol

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Yea patience, even if you did 24hrs, you would still need a better light source. Those round CFLs you have I wouldnt think they work. I would suggest for now just go pick up the spiral CFLs. Get a 4 pack of 23w make sure its around 5000-6500k. Those should do better until you get your 125w. And then you can just use all of them at once. More light the better

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Just as wizhigh is saying noob, patience is the key. mine were growing slow for a while then it turned out that the problem was the PH of the water and also the nutes currently used. Make sure the PH of the water you use is around 6 at least. Other than that it looks good also there are ways of getting a CO2 generator very easy to make and maintain. Just check youtube for DIY CO2 generator really perks them up sometimes. However as said before patience is key. Try to make one change at a time and give at least 3-4 days before to make sure that you know what the problem was.

Edit: PH checking stuff can be found in pet stores and also growshops as well as garden centers.

Happy growing!

Here's the update layout. The last image is how they look now. I think i might alternate the positions every day or 2.

The leaves seem a little dry, should i spray with a water bottle?

You have a fan blowing and a heater going so the humidity may be really low. Leaves will stay moist around 40-50% humidity level

Ok so no fan and heater at the same time. Truthfully I don't even plan on using the heater it was just cool in here now it's warm. What's a good cheap way to maintain humidity?

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Sweet, you should be a moderator here lol

Thanks, I just go off of what I already know and what I learn as I go on. Youll do well. Just dont stress your self out or try to rush things. Just chill and let it flow. Plants will go threw some things but if you just let it go they will also fix them selves.

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Also you can buy pretty cheap humidifiers online but just as wizhigh said just need water vapor. A good cheap investment would also be those thermometers with humidity included. Usually they are less than 20 bucks
Looks like you are on the right track.

Happy growing

Re: First Time Grow. Am i in the right direction?

Looking good noob, if you can try and completely box in the plants as that will keep humidity up, also stop u losing light and will also keep temps up, just box it in like you have done with the other 2 sides and keep an eye on it.

Awe man you guys should see it now. I rearranged it some more and now I do have 3 sides closed in with a outlet for air at the top. It's pretty legit. And also what bothers me more than anything maybe is the wind coming off he fan. It makes the air a little cooler than I think it's supposed to be. When I get the temp/humidity gauge ill sort that out. I'll upload some pictures when I get back home tonight.
