It depends on the plant really. I go at least 2/3 full for most but if it's a stretchy sativa you flip earlier to manage that longer stretch. Let them grow up through about 5-6" before pulling under to train. You'll cover more space with the branch and put internodes in more spaces. It also adds pressure from below which usually keeps the limb in place.
5-6"

By waiting I've covered 3 squares and exposed 5 bud sites to full light and pressure from below holds it in place. The tip will form another 6in trainer within days.

Do you over and under the stem through the holes or tie it down ?

it'll be fine. It's not a good idea to weave the plants over the net verses working them from below. Once your flipped and managing the stretch you can weave them anywhere and anyway you desire. Just easier to work from the bottom during the veg stage. Can't wait to see what you end up with here. I'm sure it will be epic.

Looking good, best of luck with your first scrog, I've been thinking for weeks about doing it in my next grow but Im a new bee and still on my first grow using soil, how would I water so many plants properly under a scrog net/mesh, would love to try it.
Scrogs are fun but do require more hands on. I try to set mine up so I can just throw water with nutes into the catch pans. Leave them for an hour or so and come back to drain off the excess. I use a turkey baster for that. After a while you get a feel for how much they will consume and draining becomes less of a job. This is my gh scrog. I left one without a catch pan to see how it would do. It dried out much faster than the rest mainly because water would flow out the bottom damn near as fast as it was poured in. It never got to soak the whole medium. I've installed a catch pan since this pic. Scrogs are typically used with low numbers of plants. I never used more than two in a indoor grow under a 4x4 screen. More is not always better with a scrog. The example I have below is way more than I'd planned on but I had more females show up this year than expected. So, I just couldn't compost a good female..lol. Sometimes you just gotta work with whats present. You'll try many methods along your way and you should. Its the only way to find out what you like.

I tried to find your journal but I guess you don't have one for the scrog your growing...or did I miss something? Journals are handy and keep all your info in one place. I followed you to keep track or stalk you around the boards...lol Tag me in if you start one. I'd like to see it grow.

How long you keep scrogging is person preference imo.
Hi all,
I used to grow four plants under a scrog in a 4x4. Now I grow just one large an happier with the process. Sucks I don’t have 4 different strains but I don’t miss the hassle.
@Jecedhi so I do 4 plant scrog in a 5x5. I usually veg 4 to 5 weeks and flower for 8 to 9 weeks. So let's say a maximum of 14 weeks per cycle. If I changed to doing just 1 plant would this effect my cycle time? I'm imagining that i would have to veg much longer and get a way bigger pot for the rootzone.
