First SWICK Grow: Rooftop Auto Grow With Supercool Subsoil

Aww shit that doesn’t even look right! Well, I tried- hope it’s half assed legible.
I can see what you were saying.
Normally I try to put a line break to change the background color but no biggie.
What's your theory on adding inches of top dressing (even with clear plastic wrap), rather than getting a bigger cloth bucket, and piling the extra inside the cloth bucket?

Defs worth mentioning but… I’m running what’s dubbed as organish, yep using organic inputs but don’t have the knowledge to do what Gee, Keffka and others do. They run true organics, hopefully I’ll get there one day

When plant in that photo was transplanted I had 2 inch gap between top of soil and grow bag. Have you ever seen 9 gallons of shit crammed in a 7 gallon bag?? Yep you just did. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hi I’m 013 and I’m serial top dresser!! That’s result of steady topping dressing- from transplant to harvest but top dress kept spilling over the rim plus I wasn’t able to till the crust away unless it fell into the res… hence plastic wrap to the rescue!

With the extra top dress I can get to harvest with no deficiencies using 7 gallon bags but since it’s swick and I’m old geezer with broken body not sure I could move 10 gallons of wet swick soil.

Well I am sorry to hear about your bent and beat up body and associated ailments. I have the same problem. CBD and THC and phenos have been a real blessing to me. It is a fix (not a cure), but I am glad to have been shown the fix! (And I suppose there are some things that it just plain does cure.)

Just speaking for myself, I think it is great that you experiment around with stuff. That stank water sounds super stanky, but yes, I will bet the plants love it. (Does it repel the deer 🦌 ?? Hahaha 😂 )

If you do not mind, I am curious about this last grow where you just set the cloth bucket directly in water. Did the roots invade the soil in the bottom of the bucket as thoroughly as they do in a bucket that is not sitting in water (meaning it has some kind of a wick [or perlite wick])?
I guess what I'm hoping to know is, does the bucket being partly sibmerged slow the roots down? Or not so much?
It is ok if you cannot remember, but if you can just set the bucket straight in water and the plant adapts on its own, then I am just guessing that that would be a real game changer for many. (I know it would for me.)

OK, updates.
The Haze CBD did not pop, so I also had a foil packet of Kush Van Stitch Autos. I planted 8 and 7 came up. Only, I cannot remember if they are regulars, or fems 😂
Haha, I guess we will find out.
They are tiny plants and not too much bud. I planted two each in a 5G SIP.

I am still looking for photos. I would like to find a Kush CBD mold-resistant photo. I have a lot of spinal injuries, and the Kush makes me want to do deep stretching (which is very helpful).
In the meantime, I had some three-year-old Kush Van Stitch autos in foil that I bought a few years back, for rooftop growing. I cannot find the page I read a few days ago that said it was cold resistant. No one else seems to say that, so I will probably try to see how long I can keep them in the grow room. They are supposed to be super-fast finishing (10 weeks), which means if I flip in another couple of weeks they might finish with the rest of the photos.

I cannot remember which sponsor I originally bought them from. It sounds like a lot of work for not very much yield. I would vastly prefer to find a photo CBD Kush, but this is CBD Kush I can grow on the roof if the grow room gets too crowded. And I should be able to grow them on the roof.

"Although compact in stature, Kush Van Stitch Auto doesn't come up short when it comes to flavor, power or pace - ready for harvest (from seed) within 55-65 days. Growers can expect to receive anywhere between 20-100g per plant of hard hitting cannabis.
If you are looking for a plant that can deliver a rich citrus lemon flavor, harbors an incredibly potent Indica stone and supports rapid growth, look no further because Kush Van Stitch seeds are the seeds for you.

Anyway, I had them. I figured I could put two per SIP and try to LST them away from the center.
Haha, I am not sure if I bought regulars or fems. If fems, I guess I can use the silver thiosulfate to make seeds, if I decide they are worth it.
I think 3.75 G of supersoil is excessive for that, so I thought I could try two in a 3G SWICK.
We will see how it goes.
Haha, it looks like one good bud and some twigs! 😂

Hi all.
The haze CBD beans did not pop.
They have some of these micro 60 day Flash Kush VanStitch seeds that were in foil, and all came up.
There is enough room to grow everything here in the bloom room. I just switched over to 12/12, and they should be able to finish up in that time. So I guess I will consolidate everything here in this room for now.
Good thing, because my landlady wants to put a covering over the roof to protect against water damage, so they would not have made it anyway.
When I finish this out we are transitioning to a greenhouse grow, I will close this thread out, and continue on my indoors LED thread.
And when it is time I will post a link to the greenhouse thread on the indoor LED thread.
Thank you to everyone for all of the help and advice, and "Happy growing!"

And here is my indoor SIP LED thread, for the bloom!

My landlady is putting a roof on my rental house, so I guess I will not be able to do a rooftop grow. :(
Please join me for my new organic outdoor greenhouse grow (which will be my new main thread).
:welcome: 👍
