First indoor grow, suggestions?

Things are looking good! I would suggest that you, make a light reflector for those cfl"s your losing some very valuable light, Just go to H/D and pick-up some aluminum roof flashing, it comes in 14" x 10' for arond 10 bucks, and you can easily make up a great reflector. and capture that light your losing now!

i could just use more mylar for the top flaps of the box to reflect the light back in, right? but im having the leave the box open for my fan to blow in it and i have another small fan at the bottom blowing into my carbon filter. how could i get better ventilation with the box closed cause as it is now it gets from 78-81 degrees but eventually ill have to keep the box closed because of the smell. Another thing, im still not sure how many hours of light i should be using with these purple strain seeds.

I'm not the person to give advise on light cycles for particular strains of plants, you might want to post that question in grow help forum. As for your problem of allowing heat out if you use a reflector, you wouldn't need to close the box.The other solution would be to put another pc fan exhausting the air out of the box.

ohh so you think i should just get the aluminum roof flashing to make a reflector, i thought you meant to like tape it on the flaps of the box. but yeah i need another fan in there towards the top to get the heat out cause mine is at the bottom just blowing the cold air into the carbon filter.

I'm going to be getting a pc fan soon thanks to gorillagrow and i checked my mids plant again today, its looking frosty on some of the buds already. I donno if its from the foxfarm nutes already but its getting more white hairs...

I really need to start using a better camera instead of my phone

lol yea I use my phone for pics too... Actually I'm on my phone right now... Gotta love technology... Keeps me up to date on everyones threads like urs!

True that, id check my updates on my phone but i dont have internet anymore. But last night I was getting creative and made a reflector for my light with a small cardboard box and some mylar, heres what I got...

I'm not sure how long it usually takes for it to start growing normally, but it didnt seem like it took this long last time. Before it was like a week and it was about 5 inches tall, am I doing something wrong?

ok so i did away with the clay pot, i can always use it later and went and bought the foxfarm soil, 2 new plactic pots, 2 plastic trays and rocks...

and after a few weeks what should i do with the lighting issue?

this box is a fire hazard, ship it out the door, trust me.

i kept my old shop lights up by books for my first grow...they barely even got hot...should be fine
+rep for being a risk taker:)

I would be concerned about having anything combustible near lights for a long durations of time. My wife had a fire growing pot plants many years ago she not only lost her crop she also had a lot of explaining to do to the authorities. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Yea def too much heat with a 400w in that box... Regardless of combustibles it wouldn't be good for ur plants in that small space
