First Grow - Next Generation Dynamite - 400W - Top Feed

Hey everyone, hope all is well. Sorry for the low quality pictures. I was running out of time while I took them.

Next round of clones

The two in the middle will be flushed for a week and then chopped :thumb:

Im trying to figure out why some of the upper fan leaves are starting to fold in half. My understanding is this is an indication of light or heat stress but temperatures have been ranging from 77-81 lights on and 65-70 lights off. Distance is about ten inches from the top of the canopy. I was also told that this could be an indication of wind stress which made sense because the two plants in the middle, with the worst case of folding leaves, were directly in front of fans. I have now moved the fans and have them pointing up towards the light to move around the hot air but Im still seeing this happen to a few leaves.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? My last guess is salt buildup in the hydroton. Any input would be appreciated! :thanks:

I had leaves curling like that and thought it was wind burn rearranged fans and it went away but I only had 1 plant going not a jungle. It looks more like it could be heat stress, what is your temps
Thanks for the reply Lupey. My temps are 77-82 lights on and 63-68 lights off. I feel like those are acceptable temperature ranges but I could be wrong lol

Try placing your hand under your light at the tops of your plants for a minute and if it's burning your hand I would raise it up a little. Temps in the tent could seem fine but the light could be too close. Just a suggestion.
I tried the hand test and I was very comfortable. Think I should move them up anyway? Maybe too intense of light?

How's your girls coming along?

Hey man. The ones with the folding leaves do not seem to be recovering. I really think this was salt toxicity because the two plants I have been flushing for a week have not really begun to yellow at all. I flushed all the plants that still have a couple of weeks left and have started feeding them 3 times a day and seeing how things will go. The plants in the rockwool grow cubes are looking very healthy and happy and I really think that the switch from hydroton to rockwool will prove to be very beneficial in terms of salt buildup and being able to flush. I will post pictures tomorrow. Sorry for the rambling: I am high hahahah.

Hey everyone, hope all is well.

For those that have been following, I am convinced that the folding of the leaves is a salt toxicity issue and not light/temperature. I came across an article from Jorge Cervantes that had an image of leaves that were folding EXACTLY like mine were and he stated that it was attributed to extreme salt build up. I flushed all the plants in flower with RO water and clearex (the ones in hydroton at least). Some plants look great while others are still displaying signs of toxicity. My reasoning for believing it to being salt toxicity (being furthered by Cervantes) was that the tray these plants were sitting on would not properly drain so the roots would sit in the puddle of nutrients sitting in the tray. I've adjusted the angle of the tray and drilled more holes to ensure that it drains entirely. I believe that hydroton is very difficult to remove salt from so that doesn't help the case at all. I'm hoping the switch to rockwool grow cubes will prove beneficial in the upcoming weeks. We'll see how the newest plants handle the change. Anyways, pics!

As you can see, the two that are being flushed for harvest do not look great at all. But, you live and you learn right? The perpetual set up really lets me future proof the set up and get it dialed in. Hopefully the latest clones in the rockwool do not find the same fate. I honestly won't even smoke these. Just harvest, dry, and examine.

Sorry to hear. So are you just going to keep this journal as a perpetual one?

I'll probably keep this journal until August 1st. 4 Cuttings went into the tent today and they will be cut on the 1st of August. The cuttings started on the 9th will be chopped July 11th. I'm hoping that my conclusion of salt toxicity is 100 percent correct and that the 5/9/16 and 5/30/16 cuttings meet a greater fate. After August 1st I will stop this journal and just keep doing what I'm doing. :thumb:

They are all in flower now right? Maybe some slight lst along the way to open them up a little unless ur going for budsickles aka lolliepopping.

The plan was definitely to lollipop these plants. I wasn't really sure how much to trim in order to get the plant to form a single cola but I think I figured it out. I trim the lower 1/3-1/2 on days 1, 7, 14, and 21 of flower.
